Well played Timo you nearly piped me at the end, wasn't expecting it to be that close.

Let us know the final tally and who the qualifiers are for next year.

The 2023/24 Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League has come to an end and I am delighted to confirm that the winner of this season's competition is @DLL's Pain In Diaz! The first place prize of £100 will be awarded to Michael Simms and it's another prize placing for the fantasy football veteran who picked up 3rd place in last season's Head-to-Head League.
Second place and a £50 cash prize goes to Timo Fernandez and their Undisputed XI side. Their 85-point total fell just 4 points short of taking top spot from Simms in the final round but was still enough to leapfrog his close rival for the 2nd place in the table.
In third place, is that very man @StevenKing who guided his Lucky Pierre side to a top three finish and a £25 cash prize. It also ensured that he enjoyed a four position improvement on his last campaign. Will next year be the year that he goes all the way?
@MPM's Bayern Side caused a shock in the Cup Final with a 73-67 win over @chillymonster's Chillymonsters side. Mark Pitts-Murray, you will now be the recipient of a Punters Lounge branded mug. There is the option to take up your place in Europe but we should warn you that you will need to cover all expenses for such a trip. You also get to choose the destination, of course!
For one final time, let's check out who was Manager of the Week. It was @Redno2009's Loredonville FC who scraped together a whopping 99 points for the final round of games. An unfashionable front line of Chris Wood, Alexander Isak, and Jean-Philippe Mateta brought in 47 points off their own backs. The midfield duo of Cole Palmer and Phil Foden further helped them along. It was enough to pip long-time league leader Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging who earned 98 points. Falling at the final hurdle again there, Durrant!
It wasn't a spectacular week for a lot of teams so the worst score of the week was interestingly competitive. A few teams struggled to reach the 20-point mark but it was Graham Avery's 12 Strikers who could only get 16 points. Carlton Morris and Kevin De Bruyne getting 9 of those on their own prevented it from being a humiliating final total.
So that is it for another year! Thank you all for being involved this season. We can expect the new season to go up online for initial squad selections in the first week of July so keep your eyes peeled for that. I hope you all have a fantastic summer and please do stick around to post on this forum because it's an amazing place to be involved in throughout the year across all sports!

This is a bet against the 37+ years old Andy Murray. He has never play well on clay!
@1.67, I think it is good value on Hanfmann especially on altitude dirt. He may just make it in straight sets.

I think a lot of the stuff around how best to use free bets is more psychological than mathematical. I get the logic around why it feels better to back something you wouldn't otherwise have backed but I'm not sure it confers any advantage in terms of long term expected profit/loss. If you make more money using your freebie on your 4th choice selection than you would have done using it on your 3rd choice then you should start backing your 4th choice every day! I'm also wary of the notion of an optimum price range as I doubt that would be one size fits all. I think it's a lot easier to decide what feels like the best way to play them rather than work out what is the most advantageous mathematically.
There's an argument for just using them on the next bet you were going to place anyway with the firm in question. Mainly, from my perspective, that's based on how many I manage to forget to use before they expire!
For me I need to focus more on making sure they all get used. That would have a more positive impact on the bottom line than fretting too much about the optimum way of using them.
