For the benefit of transparency, I should add that the yeast infection I had was when my immune system was really low due to glandular fever and not contracted through any means of sexual intercourse... I think my position here has just become untenable after that sentence...
Aaaaaaanyway! @waynecoyne how are the early days under Monk going? As smug as I find him I can still appreciate he's more of a positive manager to have than a negative one.
i'm undecided-i can't get the whiff of dodgy agents from my nostrils. Winnall seems to be getting more game time (even though he's shite). Btw his agent is apparently the same as monk's.

Cardiff vs Sheffield Wednesday
This Friday night will see the Championship return to action after the international break and, surprisingly, once again it's my hometown team of Cardiff being shown on TV. On this occasion, it's against Sheffield Wednesday in a 7:45pm BST kick-off from the Cardiff City Stadium. Can the home side bounce back after their defeat in their last game or will the visitors make it back-to-back wins in the league?
Cardiff had started to build some momentum before the 4-2 loss away to West Brom. An unbeaten run came to an abrupt end but even away to the Baggies at 3-0 down the Bluebirds did well to come back to 3-2 and almost snatched a draw at the death before conceding a fourth. The one thing we always get with this Neil Warnock side is a fight to the death and a good old-fashioned ability to bounce back. The club currently sits in 11th place and just 4 points off the play-offs.
Sheffield Wednesday have been doing well under Garry Monk. The Owls have only lost 1 of his 5 league games in charge and are positioned in 8th place just 1 point outside the top six. The 1-0 win at home to Wigan just before the international break was just the reply needed to the previous 1-0 loss away to Hull. It's still 2 wins from 3 on the road for Monk's side since he took over.
I'm expecting a tough encounter in this one. Monk is like the nasty yeast infection that you can't get rid of. Not sure there are many more smug men in football. Warnock will relish the dust-up though. I'll have to back us to maintain our solid record at home in the Championship and I think if we don't when this game then I'll be very disappointed if we don't at least take a point. As always, under Warnock, I have to back us at home.

I also expect Cardiff to win and extend their good home record. Wednesday have had a fairly easy start in terms of opposition and I think we are in a false position. I hope i'm wrong though. I'll take Cardiff 2-0 at 10/1 betfred.

Czechs v england
mason mount has 4 in 8 for Chelsea and is likely to be the attacking option in a midfield with rice and henderson
at 7/2 anytime scorer with paddy power I think he is worth a bet

Mens 1500m (semis tonight)
Cheruiyot is odds on for this but sometimes finals become tactical and this brings in the fast finishers.
Taofik Makhloufi won olympic gold in london in 2012, but has run a decent time this year and looked ok in the heats.
The 40/1 has now gone but at 20/1 with bet 365 i will try a small bet in the hope that it is a tactical race.
If this is so i would expect him to go for home from around 300m (assuming he gets through the semi tonight).

shelly ann fraser pryce
was the fastest qualifier in the heats at 10.80 and looked like she had more to give. Elaine Thompson is the only runner who has run as fast this season but didn't look in
form running 11.14. Ta lou ran 10.85 but looked like she was running hard. I don't like backing short prices but hills 4/5 looks too big. Barring a false start I can't see her losing.

Derby have lost richard keogh and maybe bennett and lawrence will be rested after their midweek drink driving capers and crash.
I wouldn't want to be with them at around 6/5.

Of the options that are worth playing are the win of overring Bournemouth at Burton's headquarters, two categories below, given the quality difference
BURTON ALBION vs AFC BOURNEMOUTH @@ AFC BOURNEMOUTH, odds 1.70Burton have a history of upsets in this competition and bournemouth usually change alot of players so i would leave alone at the prices, despite the quality difference.

preston v man city
i have backed preston at 35/1 with ladbrokes (boosted) and sold the time of the 2nd preston goal at 87(sporting index) as i think the odds are too big.

Aston Villa vs West Ham
The Premier League offers us one more match this week with struggling new boys Aston Villa hosting an improving West Ham for this Monday Night Football clash at Villa Park that's scheduled to kick-off at 8pm BST tonight. Both sides could do with a victory here but there's a strong feeling that the home team need this more with wins at home crucial for any side looking to stay up.
Aston Villa were criticised for following Fulham's failed approach of spending big on new players after earning promotion from the Championship last season. Granted, there were differences that there seemed to be more of a plan around Dean Smith's transfer activity but it was still over £100 million spent on signings. Three defeats from their first four league games suggests they are at risk of a similar fate to Fulham unless results improve.
West Ham are a side that still excite me. Manuel Pellegrini is a top class manager and his signings during the summer really added quality to the squad. It was a slow start with the 5-0 loss at home to Manchester City in the opening game of the league season but results have improved since. A 1-1 draw away to Brighton has been followed up by two wins against Watford and Norwich. Before the season started I predicted them to finish top 7 at least. I think that's very much still on.
A big problem so far for Aston Villa is the amount of chances teams are being allowed on their goal. The Villains average conceding 19.3 attempts on their goal per league game. If they allow the Hammers to have that many efforts tonight then they could be in for a tough evening. Luckily for Villa, West Ham have only kept one clean sheet on the road in their last 13 trips away in the league. I can see goals coming in this game but I think West Ham will be bitterly disappointed if they don't sneak a win here.

napoli v liverpool
napoli scores so far: 4-3 (A) 3-4 (A) 2-0 (H)
liverpool every game had at least 3 goals (ignoring community shield) and they usually start quickly
i will try a buy of 1st half goals at 1.35 (sporting index)

Huddersfield v wednesday
Iorfa plays cb in place of the injured lees. He is a full back and whilst tall I think Wednesday could be vulnerable at set pieces.
Apart from Hutchinson borner iorfa and fletcher there is a lack of height in the team.
I will try a buy of Christopher schindler goal minutes at 2 for Huddersfield (spreadex)
-
Mateo kovacic seems to be getting forward more this season.
I will try a buy of his goal minutes at 4 for Chelsea v wolves.
I have also had a very speculative buy of caglar soyuncu goal minutes at 2.5 for Leicester.
Both sporting index.

england v kosovo
kosovo are unbeaten in 15 games and recent results include wins v czech republic 2-1 (H) and 3-2 v bulgaria (A).
They also drew at home to Denmark 2-2 in a friendly.
My bets are in the hope that they can score a goal:
sell time of 1st kosovo goal at 72 and 2nd at 87 (spreadex)
Incidentally these prices were 76 and 88.5 with sporting index yesterday who now go 70.5 and 87 so that's a fairly big change

Not giving it to Bullen or keeping the status quo of him as interim for the time being? He's doing a cracking job isn't he? Worried the Cowley appointment might be the same as when Burnley snapped up Eddie Howe.
We have not been playing well @StevieDay1983 and Bullen appears to have run out of ideas like he did last time he was caretaker manager.
I'm quite excited by this and hope Chansiri doesn't mess it up.

might as well move this to the right place:-
I have taken an early price on Leicester to win at man utd at 17/4 with hills on sept 14
not convinced by man utd and think this could be close and the value does not lie with the home team

i wouldn't be surprised to see wednesday lose to rotherham. One player who i think will start is massimo luongo who has only had cameos as substitute so far.
He does however look like he has an eye for a goal going close on a couple of occasions. Sporting Index have his goal minutes at 6 to buy which looks cheap to me.
-
Huddersfield's miserable form continues and they look short at 6/5 against an improving reading team. Huddersfield are joint bottom on 1 point with a draw and three losses so far. Reading after 2 losses and the introduction of George puscas and lucas joao have beaten Cardiff 3-0 at home and drawn 1-1 away to west brom.
selection: reading at 5/2 b365

Wednesday usually perform badly at preston so I'm expecting a defeat.
The managerial situation has not yet been decided upon, it seems as if Chansiri is waiting for a couple of defeats before he brings a new manager in.
The reason I say this is when Bruce left he took 2 coaches with him, so 2 coaches and one cabbage head down and none replaced.
This shows poor leadership imo but making quick decisions is not his strong point.

Preston v Leeds
Preston are around 5/2 which looks big to me as they have won 5 drawn 1 lost 0 in 6 home league games this season.
Leeds after a good start away from home have lost the last 2.
