    ANNUAL REVIEW

As for me... Well big difference from last year i made about £300 quid (mainly L15's & Forecasts) which i can't grumble about. I cut back on most of my betting/grind as i said i would do. I then had a personal tragedy in May when i lost my oldest son thereafter i calculated speed figures just to keep me occupied but i didn't really apply them seriously. This year i will casually bet mainly small stakes L15's and the odd decent sized bet if i spot something good rather than return to the grind. I was pleased to see @MCLARKE do well with his speed figures and it is testament to him that even at our advanced age 😁 he is open to new ways and methods. This year i am also working on a Forecast system thanks to data i have collected and some Michael was kind enough to send me its slow going at the moment but hope to get that running by the new flat season. Thanks also to @harry_rag who is always helpful when prodded. I hope we who participated had a good bit of fun with the various little challenges we had like the December L15 challenge. One more mention. @tonythepaint who unknown to him gave me a little boost when i was going to pack it all in.

  3. Morning all. Unfortunately on a day of very little action Spasiba ran right up to it's quoted odds of 50/1 yesterday (never involved, pulled up) and the proven class horse in the race The Yellow Clay hosed up comfortably. Can always handle my horses getting whacked at big prices (especially when only small stakes) but it's the ones at 5/2 or less that lose can sting sometimes. Only Ayr left for jumps fans today and try as I may to find a bet for today, regretfully the money will have to stay in the wallet for another day until the action picks up. It is very frustrating but whenever I put up a selection I like to feel it has some sort of chance, at least in my eyes anyway. Not sure Hereford (if it survives, currently flooded!) will provide a bet tomorrow either so will be looking at reserve meeting Cagnes Sur Mer in France for any possible wager. Just to say really looking forward to next weekend's racing (providing weather plays ball) which will feature one of my favourite races the Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle at Kempton. Will look at entries today and may be posting an ante post selection or two once I have analysed the allotted weights tomorrow. The very best of luck to anyone who plays today, you are braver men than me.

  4. Tricky day, a few look in with decent chances but odds not so good to put up on here. I have eventually found todays bets. Daily NAP 8.30 Wolv - High Court Judge - 2/1 with 365 - Trainer has an excellent course record, decent jockey, coming down the weights, and there doesn't look to be many who will get involved. Daily EW 1.00 Ayr - Boolamore Classic - 5/1 with 365 (1/5th 3 places) - Trainer does quite well at his local course, top rated and wears a visor first time, 3 places in a 7 runner race sways it.

    ANNUAL REVIEW

When I get a bit of time I'll try and work out my P/L for the year. Don't think it's particularly good. Definitely lost on the golf but going to give it one more year. I'm more inclined to stick to the lucky 15's Anyway I'm recording my bets a lot better now so I should be a bit more accurate.

    ANNUAL REVIEW

I could just replicate my post from this time last year ....... much the same About £20 down over 12 months which, let's face it, pretty much counts as 'breaking even' I keep meaning to get back into racing in a more serious way but it's always 'next month' never 'now'........ truth is I'm fairly happy just doing the PL comps and not spending much time on it, so I've lost my way a bit on the racing side. I'm still interested though and still watch all the big races ..... happily I can watch without needing to bet on them !

    ANNUAL REVIEW

Time for my annual review Overall a good year with a profit making it 10 years in a row. It was my second most profitable year. My ROI (excluding free bets) was 6% which I am more than happy with. An excellent start to the year but a poor ending. Profits in 7 of the first 8 months and losses in 3 of the last 4 months. July was my best month, September was my worst. September is one of the 3 months that overall I have lost money in over the last 10 years. November is the worst month. April is the best. The revelation for me last year was my introduction to speed figures (thanks to @Zilzalian and @Trotter for pointing me in this direction). The flat speed figures generated my biggest proft this year. I am certainly looking forward to see if they continue to be as successful this summer. Second was the use of free bets, the majority with BETMGM (sadly that account is now closed). Third was my AW selections anf fourth were my player goal minute spread bets (courtest of @harry_rag, again sadly that account is now closed). My biggest investment was on my AW selections which generated a ROI of 9%. My second biggest investment was on price boosts but these only generated a return of £47 from an investment of almost £7k. My biggest loss was on "mug" bets which I placed in attempt to keep my accounts open. These bets only represented a small amount of the profits that I have generated from these accounts. My biggest profits came from racing 90%. I'm glad to see I made a profit from football but this was all down to the spread bets. All my other football bets made a profit of £1.54 ! I made a small loss on all other sports with tennis and golf being the main culprits, maybe I should leave them alone, even with price boosts. So my aim for this year is :- 1. Concentrate on my turf speed figures and AW systems. 2. Continue to utilise accounts where free bets are available. 3. Find an optimum stategy for bet builders. 4. Ignore all "minor" sports unless there is an obvious advantage.

    ANNUAL REVIEW

Good to revisit this . My big changes for 2024 was that both of my online accounts restricted me ( thank you ) so £4 is my max bet with bet365 down from £6 whilst Cheltenham was on & with Sky Bet now only £2 max & no b.o.g. & no " free bets " £ back bets etc.... I kind of understand this albeit despite being only a small stakes punter I've only once I probably a dozen years put £ into my bet365 account & I've never put anything into my Sky Bet account . I now don't bet on UK Jumps racing ( I'll do lucky 15 when Cheltenham is on ) it's not jumps racing anymore , it's run around the obstacles if the sun's shining racing & flat racing is slowly turning into sand racing with more & more meetings going this way even throughout the turf season there's no need for it ( May - August ) so I've just looked at my last 12 months on both of my accounts & amount staked has dramatically dropped . Staked £1578.82 Lost £25.86 in total + 11 outstanding ante post football bets although I did manage to win at Newmarket & Yarmouth ( lost at Doncaster ) in the 3 times I went racing in 2024 something I plan on doing moreso in 2025 . Good luck to fellow PL members 🤞

  14. I would not bet a toothbrush on Korda in his next match.. I watched most of the Agut - Fokina match.. Early in the day i was considering betting Agut, but after some thought decided to just watch it, and see what happens.. I was suspicious of Fokina's form because he had some tough injuries last year. I have always been of the mindset that Fokina is an underrated player, and he's going to have his time in the sun at some point. There was some shanks from his racquet that I think are foolish of him to be doing, but maybe he can't help it. Regardless of that.. he was playing dangerously well, and close to 100% from what I saw. The match vs Agut was like a practice session that he was never worried about losing. Now you can say that he could dump for the Aussie Open, and I wouldn't disagree, but I would also say the same thing could be said for Korda. So, if those cancel each other out.. I am assuming Korda needs a few matches under his belt to find his stride, and don't trust him to win. Korda also dropped his first match of the year last season in Brisbane straight sets to Hanfmann.

  17. Gotta say that Blinkova worries me. I find her super inconsistent. Unbackable, but quite able to play well if she feels like it. I would like to be on the side of super consistent (good or bad) players. The ones that are up and down like yo-yos scare me. Blinkova and Pera are both really inconsistent imo. Maybe it's because they serve so badly...

Just two winners from nine so not great (Swift and Carter). Could’ve been worse as I only saw the latter had scored just now. Still, a profitable weekend thanks to Saturday’s winners and just about finished up on the regular season. See what post season brings.

    ANNUAL REVIEW

Can't grumble. Finished with a profit that was about 72% of the highpoint that I seemed to reach several times during the year then fall back from. Given how far down I was early in the year and the fact that, in June, I fell from peak profit back into the red for a while, I'm happy it's a decent year. Best I can do if they won't let me spread bet! On the scorer system year it's been decent: Football a modest profit again which will hopefully improve with the tweaks made for this year (less and better bets being the idea) NFL just about in front as the regular season draws to a close. Enjoyed the experiment and will go again next year. Rugby League the best performance of all. Won't be changing much for the new season and see if it was a flash in the pan. Bet Builders worked well so carrying on with the same approach to those (anchored around goalscorers). Some big negative ROI but nothing that cost me much or there were too many bets on. Rugby Union not on my radar so much, can't seem to make 2+ goalscorers pay, more or less broke even on first goalscorers but lost as much on win bets as I won on each way. Bets placed in error (should've gone to Vision Express) and an abandoned attempt at trading anytimes in play were two of the worst offenders.

  33. AS Roma - Lazio Roma I don't understand the odds, AS is favorite at 2,50 , this is NOT a home game since both clubs use the same stadium, Lazio is 4th while AS is 10th, and Lazio has +8 goal differential while AS is 0 goal differential , Lazio should be favorite for sure not underdog at 3.00

  34. Wood at 2.78 is a "follow the money" bet. Big chunk up requesting 2.78, best bookies price is 2.75, would've been a system bet on last year's rules and was decent to follow last year. Might've taken it as a study bet anyway.

  41. At its simplest you just need to list your bets, the stake, the return and the profit/loss (return - stake). Sum them all and divide the total p/l by the stake and that’s your ROI.
