First post in punters lounge. I have been reading this forum back in 2000 and was too busy for a while. Lost my previous account and joined again today. I would think Newcastle should have a close match against West Ham. I have taken Newcastle win and over 2 goals @ 1.86. Good luck boys.3 points
-
Yeah they would meet in a semi assuming they both get there. As such my staking plan will focus mainly on the other side of the draw. There's great potential for one of the Pro Tour guys to have a deep run if they fall into that bottom half, I'll be looking up the prices of people like Nijmann, Wattimena etc if they do end up in the "Luke-less" side of the draw.3 points

The draw is at 4:30 pm. I think because of the rankings and Littler NOT being number 2 that they cannot meet in the finals but we will see, I'm not sure on that.2 points -
Boyles are offering 8/13 on over 3.5 170 finishes. Considering there was at least 3 in the Players Championship, I think this has a good chance of coming in, albeit it's a fairly short price. I seem to remember there being a few 170s in last year's tournament too. EDIT: I've just checked, there were 8 170s last year! Needless to say I'm having some of that 8/13 before it disappears!2 points

Connor Scutt at 200s on Novibet is a big price for someone who's been playing very well lately. Haven't looked as to what quarter he's in though, if he's in the top half then that number makes more sense.2 points -
just typical that Van Veen is in that half. De Decker too, Bunting too, ugh that bottom half is so open. Anderson should really make the final but for me Dobey, Nijman, Ross Smith & maybe even the likes of Clemens look a bet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_PDC_World_Darts_Championship2 points

Now we are sitting pretty in the National League with Barnet, York and Forest Green all covered. I do think one of those 3 teams are likely to win the title, but Oldham are the only other team I think who are capable of doing so. They are still drawing a lot of games which might hinder them from winning the league, but they have lost just twice so it wouldn't take much improvement to see them go close and they do have a good squad. I honestly don't think any other team can win the title other than those 4 clubs so given Oldham can be backed e/w to 3 places at 14/1 it makes sense to get them onside. I don't think Gateshead have the squad to finish in the top 3 and Rochdale don't look good enough and then after that you are getting to the teams hoping to sneak into the play-offs. Given its Oldham I am actually surprised they are still such a big price as they really ought to be in single figures and I had been mulling it over putting something on them for a few weeks now, but I think now is the time to get involved. After this if we aren't on the National League winner then I will be amazed. Oldham 0.5pts e/w @ 14/1 with Bet365 and William Hill (both firms are e/w 1/5 1-2-3 some bookies are only going 1/3 1-2 but I think it is better to go with the 3rd places going for us as well)2 points -

DAILY LUCKY 15
MCLARKE reacted to The Equaliser for a topic
1. I like a challenge, and 2. I quite enjoyed watching the races and didn't sit around being grumpy all day. I had just 1 winner today at 15/2, Another Day Out in the 1.15 at Ludlow. The horse refused to race last time but had the hood put back on, so I thought it was well worth the risk of including it. It was also tremendous fun to watch Leave Of Absence chase Iberico Lord home at my price of 16/1 against the favourite. My total stakes today were 3 points and my return on the winner was 1.10. Hence a loss of 1.90. My C/Fwd balance on the L15's is -142.95 and my C/Fwd balance on the RC P/L incl L15's is -208.52. My Accas balance on RC (included in results) is -10.89. I can live with a loss of 1.90 whilst enjoying watching eight races when I have nothing better to do. I hope you find this explanation satisfactory.1 point -

it's a good warm up I suppose but there is quite a good chance that Luke and Luke will meet in a semi-final at the Worlds and NOT the final. With that being said, the other half of the draw (4.30pm) will give us some very nice outsider picks.1 point

Unfortunately, my Lukeman bet was win only... I think he would have had a decent chance against Anderson, he was just brutalized and demoralized in the finals... He still delivered me some profit with the group win, and his wins against Smith and Cross as an underdog. Next weekend, it's the PC Finals, with some cracking pairings even in the first round!1 point -
I can see the logic (the bigger the gap between what you’re getting and the best available elsewhere the better). Does 7 really boost to 8.75? I’d have expected 8.5 based on what happens elsewhere as the boost is usually applied to the winnings so I’d have expected the 6 in 6/1 to be boosted to 7.5/1. I’m going to play the Jeremiah again here and say you’re still getting less than fair odds about this bet, even if you get 8.75. The 1-0 win for Turkey is backable at 8 on the exchange and your chosen cards line is around 1.2 or 1.25. Sticking a finger in the air I’d say that 9.6 is a ballpark fair price for the bet. if you’ve got the combination of a bookmaker that prices football markets fairly conservatively and applies high margin in their bet builders then you’re probably going to beat fair odds rarely even with the aid of a 25% boost. 365 and Hills would be a different matter (better prices and better BB margin). If you’re enjoying the fun angle of these bets and the interest in the games then fair enough, but on the evidence so far I’m sceptical about it showing a long term profit.1 point
-
That’s the potential problem with the anytime angle in bet builders, some firms rarely offer close to best available price. SBK May well be one of them. Prices can vary hugely and, because there’s no “not to score” price, the firms don’t need to worry about creating an arb. I did create a calculator where you enter the best and worst available prices, it calculates the implied “not to score” prices and works out what the over or under round would be. The theory being that you might have a bet worth looking at where an “imaginary” arb exists. It could, of course, just mean that the firm who are shortest are taking the proverbial!1 point

Hello, I am seeking help to bring me up-to-date with the pools in 2024. I used to do fixed odds years ago, and as a professional economist who plays with figures, I did quite well even with 4 home wins and one away each Saturday. Now that I live on a meagre pension I think its time I revived my old pastime and did the fixed odds again. But fixed odds coupons no longer seem to exist, the staff at my local William Hill just say do my best on the regular coupon and when they put it in their machine it will be understood. They did one as an example and the machine didn't understand ! But I am sure some of you reading this might be able to help. Thanks. m1 point -
