Racing Chat - Saturday 10th February
Brahmin and 5 others reacted to The Brigadier for a topic
With Warwick now abandoned we have just the four ITV races on Saturday with the best betting heat easily the Betfair Handicap Hurdle with a maximum field of 24. Here are my thoughts on the day’s action with a further update later with any other races that ITV show. Newbury 1.30 The days ITV coverage kicks off with a 3M class 3 handicap hurdle which has attracted a dozen runners. The ground will be very testing at the Berkshire track today and that won’t bother Melanie Rowley’s eight year old Kyntara who looked an unlucky loser last time out at Warwick when hitting the last when seemingly having the race won allowing J’Ai Froid to pick him off on the run in. He’s 4lb higher here but with form figures on soft ground or worse of 1122712 he can bounce back to winning ways under Charlie Deutsch. November course and distance 1-2 Young Butler and Emitom look likely threats. KYNTARA 1 point each way @ 6/1 bet365 1/5th 1234 Newbury 2.05 The last three favourites of this 2M 7F 86 yard Grade 2 Denman Chase have been beaten and we have a skinny favourite today in the shape of Nicky Henderson’s Shishkin. I’m not sure very soft ground is what the classy ten-year-old wants and with his well documented issues at the start is maybe worth taking on here at around the 4/7 mark. Second best on official ratings (10lb inferior to Shishkin) and the one to be with is the Dan Skelton trained Protektorat who ran well behind L’Homme Presse at Lingfiled last time. He’s a three time winner on soft ground so shouldn’t be inconvenienced by soft ground and may be the value play. PROTEKTORAT 1 point win @ 5/2 bet365 Newbury 2.40 Six two mile chasers line up for the Grade 2 Game Spirit Chase run over 2M 92 yard with only 3lb officially covering the front four in the betting with one of them, Amarillo Sky, coming back from a 378 day absence. The pick is Harry Fry’s Boothill who has to carry a 4lb penalty for his Ascot win last November. He followed up at the same track three weeks later and wasn’t done with in Desert Orchid Handicap Chase at Kempton over Christmas when falling five from home. He can take this from Edwardstone who may not have stayed 2M 4F last time out and may not be suited by testing conditions. BOOTHILL 1 point win @ 9/4 bet365 Newbury 3.15 The feature race of the day and the big betting race is the Betfair Hurdle, a handicap hurdle run over just over 2M and has a maximum field of twenty four facing the judge. Many have chances but the one who may have crept under the radar is the Victor Dartnell runner Aurigny Mill. He’s looked an improving hurdler on his last two starts winning at Wincanton ad Kempton, rising 16lb with his win at the latter track’s time not that far off the time that Constitution Hill clocked the previous day over course and distance. His Devon based trainer has stipulated that he is one of the best he’s ever trained and with winning form already in heavy ground looks a value each way bet in a race where you can get as many as seven places with a couple of bookmakers. AURIGNY MILL 1 point each way @ 14/1 bet365 1/5th 1234566 points -

Cristian @1.80 bf Unimpressed by Sevastova that struggled vs. an injured Avanesyan, she was slow on the ball and out of shape imo, Cristian on the other hand is showing great confidence and a very good ball striking, plus she plays in her home country so she will be 100% focused.3 points -
We're not talking about life-changing money here, and this isn't the WSOP. For the record, had I finished first, I would have transferred payments to the other three within the hour. The PL isn't just some random online poker club full of strangers, we're all friends here3 points

I was under the impression we all agreed to 3 places paid and whilst some didn’t respond in the chat I would be surprised if this wasn’t honoured as nobody expressed an issue with this. Nearly everyone would have registered to this tournament expecting for it to pay out that way too….2 points -

Sara Errani to beat Tatjana Maria at 2.75 with Coolbet 4-0 h2h here, Errani even crushed Maria last season and she's playing so good since 2 seasons back Errani.2 points -
I've had a look at the dates ahead and if we start weekend of 17th February that should finish us up nicely at the end of April. Had a busy week last week so I'm only just starting to go through the results for season 2 plus I'm not free this coming weekend so it would be awkward to keep an eye on accepting new entrants then, so looks like a better option to push back a week.2 points

The Punters Lounge £150 added Poker League continues straight on for February and I look forward to keeping up the momentum of our great start this year. We run for the next 4 weeks on Wednesday nights. The £150 added by Punters Lounge is shared between the top 3 in the league at the end of the month. Games start at 8.10pm, with a 20min late registration period on top of this. All games are played in the PokerStars Home Games PL Poker Club. The format is a NLHE 3000 chip tourney in Legs 1 & 2 and a 5000 chip NLHE for final leg. Leg 3 is our PLO Leg with 5000 chips. > Leg 1 : Wednesday 7th February at 20.10 GMT in the PL Poker Club Home Game - NLHE 3000 chips > Leg 2 : Wednesday 14th February - NLHE 3000 chips > Leg 3 : Wednesday 21st February - PLO 5000 chips > Leg 4 : Wednesday 28th February - NLHE 5000 chips - (double entrants in points formula)** Buy in is $5.50 per leg. Your top 3 scores of the 4 legs will count towards your league total. We will be using the usual PL poker league format, which will be updated in this thread. (The PokerStars own league scores will not be used.) Formula is -Log(position/Entrants)x100 To help boost numbers overall and in particular in the final leg we are continuing the system of doubling the number of entries used in the calculation in leg 4 (**so if 10 entries the formula will use 20 entrants). This will increase the number of points available in the final leg to make it more competitive. All members are welcome, however you must post in this thread if asked to let us know your forum username, otherwise your placings and scores cannot be included in the league. New players are always welcome to join in, so please spread the word and invite your friends to the forum so we can keep the weekly numbers up and remain viable. £150 Added Value & Punters Lounge Merchandise The £150 added will be split between the top 3 players of the league end, with £75 to the league champion, £45 to 2nd and £30 to 3rd. This will be payable via PayPal at the end of the league. Big thank you to Punters Lounge for the added funds. The league winner will also get Punters Lounge merchandise, which consists of our logo mug and pack of 10 pens. Unfortunately due to supplier shipping restrictions we may be unable to provide these to members who live outside of the UK. To join the PokerStars PL Home Games Club: club id = 744199 password = PLPokerClub We also have a PL Poker Club Facebook group where regular reminders are also posted. I'm going to put something on Siegemund in the Doha qualis @ around 3.15... Collins has played yesterday in Abu Dhabi 2:20 hours vs. Rybakina and today struggled a lot in the first round vs. Birrell, a player that normally would have trashed, prevailing in a 3 hours 3setter. It was also the last match of the day. Siegemund too played 2:30 hours but even if older no doubt that she is better athlete here. Of course if Collins isn't running on fumes she's going to win. But it's worth a try imo.1 point -

Sara Errani to beat Karolina Pliskova at 3.90 with Mrgreen I belive in Sara again, Pliskova is struggling.1 point -
Opening salvo is 23/10 McCaffrey brace and small bet on 9/1 the hat trick. Tougher ask this week than the last 2 weeks where the brace has landed but not by enough of a margin to justify such a bigger price. (I think I got 13/8 and 17/10 in those games.)1 point

Abdullah Shelbayh to beat Alexander Blockx at 1.70 with Mrgreen I once again have to fancy Shelbayh to get another win here. None of them has been particularly good so far but Shelbayh has the bigger game and the odds look right so I'll have a go on Shelbayh again after his nice win over Goffin. Blockx still has some work to do to get to the same level as Shelbayh.1 point -

When there were 6 players left only 3 responded to my request to pay top 3. I don't think you can assume that if someone didn't object then they must have agreed.1 point

Oh heck, so sorry. I didn't get home til 9pm so didn't even load it up to watch. I agree with what Andy says, all regulars playing so you would be expecting a normal payout. (With 16 in I think it should have technically have paid 4 places.) I have means of contacting Jason @Rivrd if necessary but he should be able to do a PokerStars transfer. Just checked, Leg 2 last month had 16 and paid $36/$24/$12/$8.1 point

The game was set up as winner takes all. A few of us were prepared to do the normal 3 way split, but not everyone in the chat responded, so I assume it stayed that way. Helen, could you check to see if the rest of the month's games are set up with a normal payout structure?1 point

Got a feeling the Chiefs will win. Unfortunately thought was getting an extra go at epic odds from hills, but whilst the promotion is available, their is no BB option yet, so can't use it. Don't need to bet on result but will do so on epic odds. Already win either way, preference would be for 49ers. I'll see what's on offer, but will use up various free bets. The 2 names for first td are mccaffrey and kelce, bit obvious but fancy them. Will probably be my epic odds use, as already went with both on a couple of freebies for bet builders with both scoring first but being on the losing team, I'll reverse result for epic odds. Can then look at others with freebies and any others I fancy, sometimes ladbrokes and coral give big boosts for 1st tds especially on wr and te positions.1 point
