Morning all. Selections already up from last night and this is an update on their prices with brief comments: Musselburgh 2.50 BEAT THE RETREAT advised 13/2 now 5/1 Musselburgh 4.25 UOKHUN advised 8/1 now 10/3 Musselburgh 4.25 BE THE DIFFERENCE advised 20/1 now 28/1 (with Bet365 / 4 places) Summary: Shocked by the amount of support for Uokhun in such a tough competitive race, have topped up on the Be The Difference who may possibly outrun his current best odds of 28/1 (certainly from an each way angle). Beat The Retreat has a solid enough shout and his slightly shorter odds this morning probably reflect that. After losing focus my eye is now back on the JUMPS ball and McCLARKE is right, keeping an eye on your profit/loss is the BEST way to keep disciplined so I am now again looking at that aspect of my betting. Best of luck today all, whatever you play.8 points -

A disappointing effort from all the Friday selections but I'll take it on the chin and look to bounce back. Getting this one in early as think price will be shorter tomorrow: Newbury 3.15 CRAZIERTHANDAISY e/w @ 11/1 (hills/pp) ** non runner ** Will analyse prices further in the morning and there will likely be more selections to add to this one.7 points -

Hello All I am new here, although I have been looking in from the gallery for quite some time. I just thought I'd give my own contribution today as a way as testing the waters. Mboko vs Badosa Beginning the season, Victoria Mboko won 22 matches straight before Serban brought an end to that streak which clearly was fatigue related. She begun a new streak now @ 6/0 with her latest victory accomplished in deep waters against Osorio . I strongly feel that similar to the signals that Mirra Andreeva gave on arrival, Victoria has given similar. She is the real McCoy and has the tools to unlock Badosa who has kind of cooled down on current form. I believe Victoria can win this to officially announce her arrival on the professional tour. Betting advice will be Mboko to win a set at the very good odds of around 4/6 or better in most bookmakers.4 points -
Interesting tracking the prices of Hovland and Zalatoris after a steady first round, players are Hovland 55/1 early yesterday out to 90/1 before he started and now half that at 45/1. 1 under par. Zalatoris 40/1 yesterday and now still 40/1. at par. lets see where we are at the end of play today. Bets placed so far £1 Hovland at 90/1 £2 Hovland at 45/1. not had a bet on Zalatoris, not worth the risk imho even though there are some big names missing in this tourney whereas i know Hovland is well capable if he is anywhere near his standard game.4 points

4.30 Navan , Canal End 9/2 Still a maiden over fences but I think being upped in distance will see the necessary improvement to get his first win in this sphere . Ran a career best when upped to 2.4m last time out to finish second staying on and well clear of third. Nice patient ride from mark Walsh and powers home comfortably. 2.40 Newbury , Matterhorn 11/1 Tricky race to nail but I think Matterhorn is overpriced and is a better horse than the price is letting on. Still unexposed . Came last I thought Cobden may have tried to race him on the pace and not off the pace but what do I know. 5.35 Newbury , Some Scope 4/1 Pulled up the last twice but had excuses in both I feel ( Too short a distance/ bad mistake) is used to racing well in grade 3 and class 2 races. Drops down to class 3 and I fancy him here . Goes from 5/1 to 14/1 just before the off so didn’t look promising. Was running a good race then just emptied and pulled up I think.3 points -

RACING CHAT Thursday 20 March
MCLARKE and 2 others reacted to WEIGHTWATCHER for a topic
A good late evening all. Bit disappointing to lose a follower today but totally justified when not banging in any winners of late so a big thank you to those who are still keeping the faith. Have taken an early look at the jumps action tomorrow and will put these bets up early but the prices may well be better in the morning when BOG also comes into play so it would be optional to wait until then for some who may want to wait. I will probably have a small tinkle tonight and then top up tomorrow if prices much better. These are my plays for tomorrow with brief summaries: Musselburgh 2.50 BEAT THE RETREAT e/w @ 13/2 (hills/b365) 3 places Musselburgh 4.25 UOKHUN e/w @ 8/1 (b365) 4 places (rev. f/cst with Be The Difference) Musselburgh 4.25 BE THE DIFFERENCE e/w @ 20/1 (betfair/pp) 4 places Summary: 2.50 Race does not look great deal harder than selection's last time out success and conditional's claim should again be helpful. 4.25 Race of the day without a doubt for me. Uokhun was well suited by step up in trip when winning latest and Be The Difference is back on a handicap mark to me that could be quite decent. Loads of other dangers in the race though that include Prince Of Perth, Hostile Hotelier and Edgewell with even then the winner not named. Be interesting to see prices tomorrow.3 points -

That’s better, 3 out of 4 in the England game enough for a profitable evening. Jude covered the SoT line in the 1st half. @bymatrix I think my take on that boost was vindicated. The bet landed but with corner tallies of 3-1 in the 1st half and 1-0 in the 2nd it was a fairly close call. Well done if you were on.2 points

Might be useful if one of you admin type chappies or chappess's chucked a list of the current comps run across the platform on this or a separate thread then we could have a shuftie at them in order to rank them into what the members feel are the most most engaging/important/entertaining/playable. Are we to assume there is a comps budget and if so, how to get the best out of that budget is one question i would pose. I know i had a discussion with @MCLARKE once about his suggestion about having a yearly naps comp and i remember suggesting the 4th placed tenner (120 quid) could be diverted to this end. Credit to Mike he made the decision to do that pretty quickly and that good idea seems to be working out well without any complaint so there may be a good idea or two out there.2 points

Let's say I have differing feelings about those two bets! Last time I mention the "bad price" angle but San Marino are 27 on the exchange and I wouldn't touch them at that price. For the fun of it in terms of the risk of ending up with egg on my face I'll say "no way they win this game". I do like the Pittas bet though, but the price is coming up as just too short on all my usual metrics and the stats aren't quite persuasive enough to make up the gap. I'd want about 7/5 compared to 6/5 best. 2 bets for me. Pittas to score and Cyprus to score the 1st goal at 6/4 - just teases out enough value for me but I look a mug if he nets after San Marino have scored the 1st goal! Pittas hat trick, Cyprus -1 and Cyprus 1st goal at 28/1 - just to use up a small freebie that's starting to "go off" as it were.2 points

Wasthatok 4:15 Ffos Las (9/2 Bet365). Third run back after a year off so should be fit now. Very well handicapped on old ability off just 103 (5l behind one now rated 135 at M.Rasen giving 7lbs). Better ground and a more galloping track could suit. Guess work as to how good he is now or if they are even trying today but price suggests they might be. 1pt win 9/2 P/L: +5.8pts Fair 3rd, seemed to be traveling well but didn't really pick up. A couple of thoughts just to throw into the mix. Badosa is playing Mboko, who as you say is a younger player. But... She is something like 18-1 on the season and although that's against inferior opponents it counts for something in my book - winning breeds confidence regardless of the opposition. Also, Badosa has a body - or more specifically a back - that seems to be made of glass having retired the last time she played and presumably causing her to skip Indian Wells. That could mean another retirement or if not then a hindered performance. About Bencic, I can't see her winning easily if at all - at least if her performance in the last round has anything to do with it. She was mighty lucky that Yastremska reverted to type and handed the match to her in a flurry of unforced errors that started when she served for the match. I'm not sure about your assertion that Bencic has a solid serve either - she's another one who loves a double-fault and I don't equate solid serve with numerous double-faults.2 points

Future Competitions Poll
Zilzalian and one other reacted to MinellaWorksop for a topic
After reading plenty of knowledgeable points on this subject here are some of my viewpoints on this topic: 1) I'm not against more competitions though surely Michael has enough to calculate and number crunch as we already have a decent variety of horse racing competitions and prizes. So I would only feel comfortable with more competitions if Michael is happy to take on the extra workload. 2) The only way I see the separate jumps/flat competitions working if brought in would be to link them to the ITV races as their TV scheduling kind of tries to link in with the traditional winter jumps/summer flat racing pattern. Other than that as previous poster's have correctly pointed out both codes of racing run pretty much continuously throughout the year. 3) If more competitions were brought in, I personally prefer the idea @Alastair mentioned and having competitions linked to specific meeting types. These shorter sharper competitions do seem to have higher entry rates than the monthly competitions etc. But again I do go back to point 1. where I feel there is enough variety of competitions in the horse racing for us all to get our competitive juices flowing.2 points -

Miami Navarro vs. Raducanu 1.57 2.35 I did grab the following from chatGBT Nigel Sears (2021): Andrew Richardson (2021): Torben Beltz (2021–2022): Dmitry Tursunov (2022): Sebastian Sachs (2022–2023): Vladimir Platenik (2025): Seriously ... is there any other in tennis who is swapping out coaches like Raducanu? It kind of shows what type of mindset she has ... definitely knows everything and probably quite difficult to work with (though nobody will say it). And you have to have someone you trust on your side, who really understands the game (tactics, analysis etc). So in a sport where you need a strong support team around, she doesn't have it ... and there is only 1 way she can go, and it is not up. Miami Mertens vs. Stearns 1.7 2.1 Miami Muchova vs. Azarenka 1.4 2.9 Miami Bencic vs. Svitolina 1.67 2.18 Miami Moutet C. vs. Tabilo A. 1.6 2.3 Miami Badosa vs. Mboko 1.45 2.7 Badosa at 1.45 against a junior coming from ITF level looks like a generous price to me. IMO Bencic wins comfortably against Svitolina. Just too good, with a solid serve and excellent ground strokes. I don't think Svitolina matches up well here against a similar opponent who is just a better player. For me Svitolina is an excellent retriever, but that game fails against solid players who have power. I like Uchijima to beat Kalinskaya. Kalinskaya is beating the players you would expect her to beat, but is losing to almost every good player she is playing. 1st round losses in Indian Wells, Dubai, Doha does not help the confidence or the prep.2 points

Kane to score or assist at 6/4 - a no brainer (in terms of being value) "Uniboost" Kane to score at evens - saw this boost first, a lot more marginal but still ok Bellingham to score at 11/4 - a system bet Bellingham 2+ SoT at 4/1 - "feels" ok, fancy him to put on a decent shown in Tuchel's 1st game and the "impact sub" offer applies.1 point -
Probably, I can find 4/7 from a quick look at the BB options. Albania will do well to get more than 2 corners. I think it's better than fair but I don't have a lot of enthusiasm for it. I've seen teams rack up high corner totals with an unlikely high/low split across the 2 halves. The sort of scenario I can envisage that puts me off is that England blow Albania away in one half, everything goes in the net, they're cutting them to ribbons through the middle rather than going out wide. So you end up with say, 2 corners each then England get 8 in the other half. I suppose it's weird to say it's probably value but I don't like it much but hopefully my take makes sense!1 point

I went 0 from 11 in the later games which would take some doing if you were laying rather than backing! All grist to the mill of the discussion that took place in the tennis forum with @Torque and others. Place enough bets and you will see "unbelievable" good and bad runs. 0 from 11 is nothing really but it will test your faith early on in the life of a system. What I will say about those bets though is that most of them were "chase" bets where the bookies price was too short and I put up a request for my target price on the exchange. (Luckily I was only part matched on a lot of last night's losers.) The jury is still out on whether such bets are likely to be profitable in the long run. If there is "smart money" in the exchange market that can be followed when backing then it seems safe to assume that there will be smart money laying bets as well. I've long wondered if it's really viable to make money with these chasing bets or if you're just going to get picked off and beaten by the smart money that matches more of your bad prices than good ones. My hypothesis is that it's (relatively) easy to beat the bookies in this market but it's a hell of a lot harder to beat the exchange layers.1 point
