Good morning all. Early posting today as off out for a little bit and back later so didn't want to keep anyone hanging on if at all they were waiting for any jump selections today. Only the two UK jump meetings and again unfortunately for today there are NO MAIN JUMPS SELECTIONS, but there will be some tomorrow. Did half consider SHUTUPSHIRLEY in the Newbury 5.05 but a combination of ground concern and performing dreadfully last time out in this grade of company was more than enough to put me off today. Will post up some "flatties for fun" though shortly.8 points -

Following yesterday's 11/2 advised winner with CASTAN "flatties for fun" log is currently +19.5 points profit. These are mine today with some ultra competitive flat racing so getting any winner would probably be going some: Lingfield 1.55 SOLANNA @ 11/2 (b365/unibet) Lingfield 3.00 COUL ANGEL @ 7/1 (hills) Southwell 4.40 MUMAYAZ @ 13/2 (hills) Lingfield 5.20 KALAMUNDA @ 9/1 (b365) (2 x straight f/csts with Destructive and Tails Evolvere) Best of luck with your bets today all.8 points -

Sportwetten and 6 others reacted to neilovan for a topic
Should be a quiet weekend of tennis, with Indian Wells qualifying on Monday and Tuesday. Main tourn runs from 5th to 16th Court surface, Plexipave's Plexi Hardcourt System, which is slow and gritty. Eats balls quickly, which will not help the big servers. They will use use Penn balls, which will fluff quickly on the grainy surface, and be slow through the air. If you are betting on game outcomes in match, then remember balls changed after first 7, and then every 9 games. So games 6 7 8 9 after the ball change will throw up a higher % of serve breaks, than 1 to 5 (WTA). These tournament conditions definitely favor the fitter, physically stronger players in the WTA. Groundstrokes, and physical prowess, and not serving ... will win the day here (in the WTA). So you need to look at exceptional athletes Sabalenka, Kostyk, Zheng, Gauff, Swiatek, Muchova (if fit), possibly Paolini. and Power hitters that can hit through baseliners. Sabalenka, Keys, Rybakina, Kostyk, Ostapenko, Anisimova, Yastremska, Swiatek, Gauff, Tauson, Noskova ------------------------------------- My feeling is that retrievers will struggle with the slow conditions. Getting the ball back won't cut it. IMO they are the low hanging fruit here because they are neither exceptionally athletic or powerful. Frech, Linette, Haddad Maia, Bouzkova, Tomova, Sherif, Zarazua, Lamens, Volynets, Wang (Xinyu), Rakhimova, Gracheva, Bronzetti, Cristian, Begu (ProtectedRanking), Davis (PR), McNally (PR), Grabher and prob at least another 8 qualifiers. I would add Vekic, Sun, Pliskova, Kvitova to this group as well. These 4 are not great athletes and are over reliant on their serve (which should be nullified). Vekic has no confidence, Sun had a great start but is being figured out and the last 2 are not match fit, and battle hardened. Just gotta see the draw, because there will be the odd Q v Q, and Q v WC matchup, and the low hanging fruit could play each other.7 points -

We have 10 races coming to us from ITV from three meetings and considering Cheltenham is just around the corner is pretty decent fayre. The day's nap for me is Alan King's CASTLE CARROCK (2.55 Kelso). He impressed me on his hurdling debut at Sandown when turning over the heavily punted Ben Pauling favourite Diva Luna who has been a mid week gamble for the Mares Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham this week from 33-1 into 12-1 following some positive words from her handler. This is a step up in grade for the pick but I will be surprised were he not to go close. King can also be on the scoresheet with his HELNWEIN (1.10 Kelso) who will appreciate the drying ground up there and has had his wind tinkered with since flopping last time out. GREY DAWNING is the best in at the weights in the 1.45 and although no price should be beating Iroko. ACE OF SPADES (2.20) makes his handicap debut for the Skelton's and although my first impression was to take him on when you start to look at his opposition it's hard to find too many dangers. The feature race at Kelso is the Moorebattle Handicap Hurdle at 3.30 which has an open look about it. A big careful for me is the Neil Mulholland runner Petrol Head who was a bit of a plot horse when trained in Ireland so should be watched carefully in the market (at time of writing he's friendless in the market). I think there's a big handicap win in the Jonjo & AJ O'Neill trained TELLHERTHENAME who is making his handicap debut but has some decent novice form to his name and will love the drying and fresh ground. At Doncaster I will be backing Oliver Greenall & Josh Guierriero's HOMME PUBLIC who is two from three at the track including this very race a year ago and he can race off of the same handicap mark here today having been running over hurdles for his last three starts. Trainer Ben Pauling and jockey Ben Jones are in irresistible form currently and the combo team up with the top weight TWIG in the feature race, the Grimthorpe Handicap Chase at 3.15. He's been racing over hurdles this season but if back to anywhere near his career best second in last season's Ultima Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival should go close here. He can be backed each way. The first race from Newbury on terrestrial TV is the veterans chase at 1.20 in which Anthony Honeyball has the front three in the betting and it maybe top weight SAM BROWN who can come out on top with the stable's conditional jockey (seen winning the opener at Newbury on Friday) Chad Bament looking excellent value for his 10lb claim. The feature race at the Berkshire track is the Greatwood Gold Cup at 3.45 in which I like the Oliver Greenall & Josh Guierriero novice BILLYTHEREALBIGRED that catches the eye. He may still be ahead of his mark and looks likely to give us a big run for our money. He can be backed each way. I can't resist a saver mind on the 11 year old PAINT THE DREAM who's record at the track reads 5111 including this race three years ago from a 12lb higher mark. He's joined David Brace this season and has dropped 15lb for three poor runs so may have gone but is so well handicapped if he does come back to somewhere like his old form can outrun his big odds. Plenty to get stuck into and the bet I suggest is a 1/4 point each way super yankee on the following: - Castle Carrock 2.55 Kelso Tellherthename 3.30 Kelso Homme Public 2.40 Doncaster Sam Brown 1.20 Newbury Billytherealbigred 3.45 Newbury6 points -
Here are the overall results for Season 2. It's been a tough season! Only 154 winning bets overall, our high point was 24 wins in week 4 and we managed to avoid slipping into single figures in any week. We did however wipe around £3000 off our combined starting bank. Division 5 turned out to be the star performers, they ended up with an overall profit, with 7 individual players in profit who finished in the top 10 places overall. We had 93 finishers, including those who had played all in and lost, from the original 112 who started, so a big thank you to all those who put their bets on through the highs and lows of the football results, whether you ended with a profit or zero. 65 of us managed to find at least 1 winning bet over the season but only 22 finished with a profit on their starting bank. Top of the league is @tl53 with over 6 times starting bank and @Mitchell Hart in 2nd just short of 5 times bank. Both came up on the rails in the last couple of weeks to overtake long time leader @Paperclip who wins Best Odds Winner with his 41.3 treble in week 3. @Alley Cat Glover and @Kingdom for finish 4th and 5th both with over 3 times bank. It was a close competion for highest number of wins looking like several may share it, but in the end @u1905068 pulled clear to take the prize with 8 wins over the 10 weeks. Well done also to @akarsioti and @daisychain who both had 7 wins. I've posted Divisional results in your week 10 selection threads but I will add the tables in here too. I'll collate the winners confirmation post later on today, bear with me Here is the final overall, which determines your Division for the new season starting up this weekend.5 points

Good card at Lingfield today , not quite Santa Anita but I'll have a small dabble on a couple . 3.00 CARBINE HARVESTER 9/2 bet365 - has won last 3 & despite narrow CD win lto seemed to do it well . 2nd 9/1 , if I'd have known it'd drifted that far I'd have done it each way for a small return . 3.35 ROHAAN - 4/1 bet365 - 👎out of stalls poorly & was nearer last than first , think stall 1 was a big negative for horse that's a closer . improved form figures & runs over last 3 & albeit this isn't the turf of Ascot the veteran looks like he's enjoying his racing once again .5 points -
Welcome to the forum. I've moved this into here as it rung a bell that we had an outright betting thread lurking somewhere! They're 1.08 for promotion on the exchange which makes the 1/100 look a bit stingy. They can be laid at 1.1 or you could put up 1.09 and see if that gets matched. You could trawl the bookies to see if any have "yes/no" markets but probably not worth the bother as the exchange would probably remain the better option.4 points

Greetings all, back from my travels today and have already seen two of the four flat picks bite the dust. Do think anyone who nails a flat winner today at Lingfield will be doing well as ultra tough IMO. Can see as my friend Mclarke alerted me to the money appears to have come for WILFUL tomorrow (see ANTE POST SELECTIONS,) so that should be an interesting watch if it holds current best price 17/2 or goes even shorter. Still means nothing unless they win eh. Looking forward to putting up some selections tomorrow for my beloved jumps.4 points -

I'd have thought 'Win Singles' were the most likely bet for long term profit I'm sure there's been research done on this but I don't know the results As a general rule I think that the more selections in a bet exponentially increasing the chance of losing (stands to reason) ....... and of course the bookies promote Yankees, Accas, Betbuilders etc for a reason4 points

Slim pickings always at the end of the week. Odd to see two 250 WTA tournaments with such different prize money. Austin winner $36K | Merida winner $164K (with a softer draw). That is a lot of money for a 250 event. Joint and Avanesyan, nothing to choose between them. For me Avanesyan has more pedigree and should win a tight match here. Joint beat Vekic 6-1 6-2, but Vekic is having a bad start to the season, playing poorly with no confidence. Neither player has faced a very good, in form opponent in this tournament. In Austin I like Shibahara to beat Tomljanovic. Tomljanovic has had 2 wins against average opponents, while Shibahara ( a doubles specialist) is having a great week (4 wins). Shibahara playing at her highest level (in the last 2 years) and that swings me to go for her to win. Just a small bet as a double on Shibahara and Avanesyan to win Quite irritated by Berrettini who threw his match against Tsitsipas away yesterday. 4-4 3rd set Tsitsipas serving and facing double break point 15:40, Tsitsipas probably hit his best shot of the year (a half court pickup approach shot) winner. He could try that 10 times and make it once. Berrettini then dropped the next 3 points, and dumped his next serve game. The Griekspoor v Tsitsipas match looks to be vvery close. Last meeting in Rotterdam super tight match. I think Griekspoor wins this one.4 points

Love to see dedicated backers with blank days... says a lot about the picks on the good days! . Worst thing possible is to have picks the sake of it, wasted much money on this in the past, never works out... always chasing losses on bets you knew you shouldn't have taken in the first place, it's the worst.3 points -

I thought about a few but I can't have some of these guys at odds of 20/1 odd. Not when they have no proven record of actually winning stuff. I'll go with : Heta 40/1 Noppert 66/1 ----------------------------- Scutt e/w 80/1 Lukeman e/w 150/1 S.Williams e/w 175/1 O'Connor e/w 200/13 points -
Humphries manages to squeak through but that was a lot closer than the prices suggested it would be. Greaves set off like a train and it was only Humphries doing well on the doubles that kept him close to her, then his doubles started to fall off and she got ahead again before she seemed to just run out of steam towards the end which saw her average drop. Greaves certainly the winner for me, even though she lost.2 points

Away in Lugano we have a match between Vilius Gaubas and Dino Prizmic where I think we'll see some of the underdog taking advantage so I'm on Gaubas +1.5 sets at 2.11 with Coolbet Reason for why I belive Gaubas takes at least a set would be that I don't understand why Gaubas who's relatively good on his own serve and Prizmic isn't yet where the odds expect him to be. He's not even close to top 100 so why Gaubas is such a big dog tonight beats me.2 points

Hi all. Have had a very quick look at the big handicap hurdle this Saturday at Kelso, and though an OTB suggestion I will put this one out there early for whoever wishes to consider it. (Saturday 1 March) (Morebattle Handicap Hurdle) Kelso 3.30 WILFUL e/w @ 18/1 (ladbrokes price boost) (16/1. generally) 5 places. Bottom line is though no good recent form which makes the horse an OTB bet for me, it is on a very nice mark for Saturday's contest. Since running in fair quality handicap hurdle contests there is a chance that this fella would fare a lot better dropped down in trip as he is this Saturday. Ground seems to come alike to him so that should not be too much of a worry for anyone who wishes to back him now. Opened at 20/1 with a few firms and already down in price it will be interesting to me to see if the price crashes or indeed get's bigger before Saturday. I have invested a small few quid already in case the money does come for it, and will FINALISE my thoughts for the race on the day. Anyone who is able to I would suggest price boosting it as I have with Ladbrokes for a fair enough at this point price of 18/1. Be interesting to see if that is value or not come Saturday?2 points -
