Good morning (afternoon) punters. I haven't been around in a few years, but hope to add some value to the forum this season if possible. I am on ManUnited -170 tomorrow vs Fulham. Yes, I'm a supporter, but there are many factors in their favor here. First, they're at home. Seemingly every year they start at home and EtH needs to get off to a decent starts. He survived last season by the short hairs, and new ownership group is going to expect results as United had their worst season ever in the premier league, and the first time ever with a negative goal differential, yet, remarkably won a trophy. And whilst its true that they will not have their best starting 11 in this match, they simply have too much quality all over the field for Fulham. Fulham lost their best player and will take a few games to acclimate their new signings (mainly Smith-Rowe and Sessengon). And United certainly have some injury concerns, and they have some new singings as well who will not feature, so it may be a month or two before you see their strongest side, you still will see a team featuring a team of Rashford, Garnacho, Fernandes, Maino, Casemiro, Amad, et al. Rashford needs to prove it this year or else he'll find himself behind the likes of Zirzkee and Hojlund when fit. The odds have drifted better than 11/20 and unwarranted in my opinion. United should win this one 2 or 3 to nil. Plenty of soccer on tap today as well, and give me two punts in Spain. Girona +200 to win and o2.5 -105. Girona was surprise team last year and although they shipped off a few key players, they've brought in a few veterans in Romeu and Gil. Girona play a very pleasing brand of soccer to watch, free flowing, open attacking, only Madrid scored more goals in La Liga last year. And whilst they do have Champions League matches this year and not necessarily the depth of the larger sides, this is the opening match, so I expect a strong side and an open match. Betis generally very good at home, only losing 3 times last year, thus the reason for the big price, but without Isco today. Girona can snipe an early victory here, say 3-1.4 points -

Yeah, I'm on board with that @Fader. I've out Bruno Fernandes in my fantasy team for the opening weekend of action. I can certainly see him getting a dodgy pen by falling over his own face at some point. I agree with your view on Fulham too. I think they've lost a couple of key players in Palhinha and Tosin Adarabioyo from last season. Both positions are very tricky to replace at this level too. I'm not sure they'll go down but I can't see them out-performing last season or winning matches like this.2 points -

Yeh, so it's no problem if said selection is the only EPL outright bet you're planning to make, but if you've got several EPL ante-post selections yet to make; the boost will be applied to the first bet after the offer is made available. So waiting a few weeks is problematic if you've got other selections in mind because you would have to defer those aswell.2 points -

Premier League 2024/25 Top Goalscorer: Jean-Philippe Mateta, E/W 1/4, 4 Places @ 51.00 (Bet365) I've decided to pull the trigger on this since Bet365 are offering a 25% boost on EPL outrights at the time of writing, so I've effectively gotten on at 63.75 as an additional bonus. Suffice to say 51.00 is still very juicy imo. It should be noted that the main risk is the transfer window still being open for 2 weeks but with the 25% boost I'm willing to roll the dice now. I don't really have much to add to what's already been discussed other than Mateta has been a transformed CF under Oliver Glasner and I expect that to continue this season. Centre-forwards can be like fine wines and often reach the peak of their powers in their late 20's / early 30's. Mateta's form seems to be a case of right age / right manager. He only started 25 EPL games in 23/24 but that's because Edouard was the preferred CF under Hodgson early doors. Mateta is first choice now and if he can start more games this campaign he will have a good chance of breaking into the top 4 scorers. Mateta's EPL goals in 23/24: 16 EPL top 4 scorer threshold in 23/24: 19 So if Mateta scores his way into the top 4, we should make over 11X on our investment @ 51.00 and over 14X with the 25% boost. In terms of winning top scorer outright, I do think Mateta has a realistic, albeit smaller chance due to Haaland's continuing 'niggles'. The Norwegian does have a touch of the Andy Carrolls about him due to his physical size and intense style causing extra inflammation and wear and tear on his body. Haaland is very professional and looks after himself well but is vulnerable to flare-ups in his system. He had a troubled season in 21/22 for Dortmund where he only started 21 games in the Bundesliga. A repeat of that this year would create opportunities for others to take the golden boot. Hopes of the full payout could be viewed as hubristic straw-clutching by some but Haaland's fitness situation is an interesting footnote nonetheless.2 points -

Glad to see the Premier League finally back! Premier League Draws The below games are priced up with draws as the outsiders in all three outcomes. I'm happy taking on the draws for matchday 1 and splitting even stakes across all draws Everton/Brighton draw - 3.55 Notts Forest/Bournemouth - 3.6 West Ham/Aston Villa - 3.75 Brentford/Crystal Palace - 3.6 1 draw from 4 yields a small loss with 2 or more draws showing a profit Laying the favs 3 short priced favorites are playing on Saturday - Liverpool away to newly promoted Ipswich, Arsenal at home to Wolves and Newcastle at home to Southampton. The favourites treble is 2.3 which feels shorter than the risk of 2 home and 1 away teams playing their 1st game of the season should be. I see value in spreading equal stakes laying all 3 of the favourites (Arsenal and Newcastle play at the same time which limits laying an effective treble on the exchanges) Odds to lay on the exchanges at the time of placing bets were Liverpool 1.41 Arsenal 1.23 Newcastle 1.4 1 fav not winning yields a small profit 2 favs not winning fields a bigger profit and 3 favs failing to win yields the max profit. 4/5/6/7 folds Will also place a small set of 4/5/6/7 folds of the above Everton/Brighton draw - 3.55 Notts Forest/Bournemouth - 3.6 West Ham/Aston Villa - 3.75 Brentford/Crystal Palace - 3.6 Ipswich double chance - 3.25 Wolves double chance - 4.5 Southampton double chance - 3.25 The outlay for the small set for the above is 64 bets when combining 4/5/6/7 folds with the shortest priced 4 fold yielding 134/1 *bets were placed earlier in the week and stated odds above may have shifted since Championship/League 1 3 games where the odds for the outright wins look big, I've backed the draw no bet siding with the draw as a saver West Brom draw no bet at home to Leeds 3/2 Sheff Wed draw no bet away to Sunderland 1.6/1 Stockport draw no bet away to Blackpool 1.6/1 Good luck everyone on your bets this week!2 points -

Ok, this is it, we're in the brief honeymoon period between bemoaning the lack of decent quality football and complaining that there's just too much of it! Here are the opening Premier League fixtures with Man U and Fulham getting things underway on Friday night in what is likely to be a defining season for ten Hag in terms of his reputation. Chelsea v Man City is perhaps the tie of the round with some tricky games for the promoted teams. West Brom v Leeds and Norwich v Blackburn are two of several interesting games in the Championship, we've got full programmes in Leagues 1 and 2 and in the National Leagues along with FA Cup preliminary round ties. In Scotland there's League Cup action so only a solitary Championship game in the top two tiers but games as usual in Leagues 1 and 2. There are plenty of games in Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland but something tells me this isn't going to be the week when we see a flurry of bets posted on those competitions! La Liga cheekily gets underway on Thursday (that's midweek mate!), Ligue 1 in France on Friday and Serie A on Saturday. Germany has cup action this weekend before the Bundesliga returns next weekend. All of the other leagues that have been keeping us going continue as well so there's no shortage of games to go at. I look forward to seeing plenty of winners flying in from all angles from you lot, augmented by one or two from me with a bit of luck.1 point

From a quick look at SX's total goals prices, these are the top contenders. Haaland 27 goals Salah 18 Isak 17 Saka 17 Watkins 17 Toney 15 Palmer 15 Foden 15 Son 15 Havertz 14 (Mateta in for around 11) Saka at 100 makes the most appeal if you wanted a decent price with a reasonable potential to lay off, but that's from a cursory glance at the market. I don't mind antepost bets on a World Cup or Euros but I'm not keen on season long bets unless I think the value is clear and obvious.1 point
