Gets going this evening. "The Luke's" have found themselves in the top half of the draw together, so if you're looking for value in the outright market it will probably be found in the bottom half of the draw. Anderson at 12/1 appeals, the form he was in last week was that of the Gary Anderson who was the only player who could go toe to toe with MVG when he was at the height of his powers. It's a shame Bunting has found himself up against Luke Humphries in R1, as he's obviously in great form having made all 3 PC finals last week. Chizzy is playing well and has fallen on the right side of the draw, but if history has taught us anything, it's that backing Chizzy in majors is a quick route to the poor house. Will have another look later today and lock my bets in this afternoon.4 points

I reckon Littler could be tough to beat this week, and the draw has been relatively kind to him, certainly in the early rounds. He faces Rob Cross in the first round, and although Cross is the fourth seed, he has only won two matches in his seven Grand Prix appearances. Next up it would be Dolan or Schindler, and I wouldn’t expect either of them to cause him too many problems. Could be Aspinall, Searle or Rock in the quarter-finals and potentially Humphries in the semi-finals, tough match-ups but his effectiveness on double 10 means that there shouldn’t be many legs where he is slow to get going. I just think he is the one they all have to beat this week, although the odds of 7/2 aren’t particularly appealing, so for my outright bets I’m concentrating on the ‘name the finalists’ market. And the players I’m going for in the bottom half have both already been mentioned, Chris Dobey and Dave Chisnall. Both come here in decent form and have fairly good records at the tournament. Chisnall is a two-time finalist and Dobey has only failed to make the quarters in one of his four visits. Littler - Chisnall final 40/1 Sky Littler - Dobey final 50/1 Sky First round acca on Schindler / Barney / Littler / Noppert / Dobey 2-0, about 16/1 Sky Good luck with whatever you go with this week.3 points

I took the 12/1 on Anderson as I think that might come in even more. 9/1 in some places. I need to do bit of research but I'm tempted with Dobey, Anderson and one other. Possibly Chizzy but ultimately this event is very unique and you need to be able to double well. If memory serves me well, Chizzy does well in this but I need to look further.3 points

Not much to add, nice analysis, guys. I also went with Chisnall and Dobey. Let the best man win that half. (I remember last year, when I also picked Chizzy... he was eliminated in the very first round by Woodhouse... now there is a potential Chizzy-Woodhouse tie in the 2nd round, lol.) Wade would have been a nice pick, he made the SF in the World Matchplay, and he's known for his steady doubling, but his draw is kind of harsh... The other outsider I have considered was Searle, but maybe that lost ET final might be in his head, AND he is in the Luke-half of the bracket.2 points -
another I liked is Cross to hit a 100+ checkout in each set (vs Littler) 28/1 Let's face it, he's going to be out-powered with the scoring and so he will need the checkouts. He could be whitewashed in sets and it still comes in. He's got a good checkout rate on majors. It's 4/1 any 100+ checkout each set so I've gone with the bigger price2 points

Matteo Berrettini to beat Holger Rune at 1.80 with Bet365 I don't even know when Rune has last beaten someone this good, and his last week's performance didn't exactly inspire much confidence. Berretini ran Rune close in Cincinnati, and the situation is better for him this time around.2 points -

Gentleman Jim Review | "An independent bookmaker not afraid of taking on big bets"
Kingdom for reacted to Fader for a topic
Hello all, As I mentioned in the HighBet review we want punters to be able to come to Punters Lounge, and quickly be able to see how good, or bad, a bookie is. It's good to have these in a review format, on the forum, as well as on our website. Being on the forum could be more advantageous. I've created a poll above for you to give your general ratings of each aspect of the site. If you want to go into more detail, then feel free to post it, within this thread, though. It would be very helpful to both us and fellow bettors. In this case, It's Independent bookie Gentleman Jim. We haven't got an offer for this one as of yet but early signs look good with a very nice-looking site and lots of solid markets. I've been using them over the weekend so I will give my review here, too. any comments or reviews for Gentleman Jim in here 🚀 https://go.punts.pl/GentlemanJim1 point -

Chisnall to beat Menzies 8/11 Bet365 Accy - Chisnall, Heta, Dolan, Aspinall 15/1 Bet365 I've seen some bonkers doubling from Menzies and although he is getting better, I wouldn't fancy him having to double-start each leg. I think Chizzy wins that one. It's much the same with De Decker. Much better now but has had doubling issues and went out with an 80 average to Cullen last year. Heta has also had issues in this event but he has looked solid in recent months, so I'm trusting him. I'll take Dolan to beat Schindler next. I think it's more of a closer one than the odds suggest purely because of the Double-In. If it were a normal match then it might be different. I've highlighted the checkout % above and Schindler has been frail on doubles in the past. Searle is a worry for me in this event as his doubling can go missing, too. Aspinall might be a bit of a dark horse. I just want to see him first after all his dartitis fears. I was also tempted by outsiders Joyce and Bunting. Any love for those?1 point -

How to enter fixed odds selection on a 'standard' bookie's coupon
harry_rag reacted to missionary for a topic
Thanks for your warm welcome and help Harry. I always used to use a perm, and would still do so if I could, but the familiar 'lines' are no longer on paper or on a screen. I would normally do at most 6 selections but not an accumulator. Betfred have suggested I use their online 'lucky 15' entry. I can easily go to a shop as I have two very close to home, and I always found counter staff to be very helpful, although they appear to employ young lady cashiers rather than even one old school individual who could quickly produce figures. But I guess onlone business has now killed that sort of service off. m1 point -

CLASS IN HORSE RACING
Wildgarden reacted to richard-westwood for a topic
The higher you go ...the gaps in class seem to appear so it could be that listed or above races would be a good hunting ground ......but the more races I do I've realised class alone isn't enough .....you can have a really high class horse that's miles in front ..... but if it's badly hccaped ....wrong conditions ....or completely out of form then class alone won't make it win .....frustratingly makes sense when you think about it ..... If a horse is 10 PTS clear on class but all wins on g/f and today is soft then not necessarily a good bet .....likewise ....if the horse is 20 PTS clear on class but hadn't done a thing for 6 months and has been finishing average ...10th. Last six months ......doesn't mean impossible but ....unlikely to win despite class rating ...I've seen quite a few of these .......but when the stars align .....now your talking1 point -

CLASS IN HORSE RACING
The Equaliser reacted to richard-westwood for a topic
Ive pondered the problem and maybe a highest place last three runs rating Wen compared to the overall rating could solve the problem ..... It would give you a comparison where the horse is now compared to it's best .... For instance .... Horse a won 25000 last year ....recently won a 6000 ....if you divide 6000 by 25000 it gives you a recent class rating of 0.24 Horse b won 16000 last year .....recently won a 12000 giving you a class rating ..0.75 So now you have a way to compare old to recent and the closer you are to 1.0 ....the closer you are to your maximum class rating ever 🤔🤔1 point -

CLASS IN HORSE RACING
The Equaliser reacted to bymatrix for a topic
Not sure how this may work but will give it some thought In your example of £25,000 Richard the only way i could see that scenario working would be to decrease the amount for each sub standard performance but then the horse will always have the hidden rating to win , so he'd need something like a Timeform asterisk to signify he was capable of winning at best. Needs lots of thought this so more time required1 point -
CLASS IN HORSE RACING
The Equaliser reacted to MCLARKE for a topic
Richards initial comments Class is without doubt the hardest thing I have struggled with over my years of rating.....like space/time for instance ...without one the other doesn't work ....it's very similar in horse racing with class ....and yet I'd say 8/10 punters completely ignore it despite the fact you see it in action every single day and none of it makes any sense for all intense purposes it's an unseen entity1 point
