It's the Europa League Semi-Finals next week and we have two fascinating matches to look at heading into this stage of the competition. Premier League side Arsenal face La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid in a game that many feel is essentially the final. Dangerous thinking! Ligue 1 club Marseille then take on the underdogs of RB Salzburg in the other tie. Let us know your thoughts and any tips you have in mind for these two games. :ok

Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid

The first Europa League Semi-Final is a humdinger tomorrow night with Premier League club Arsenal taking on La Liga side Atletico Madrid in an 8:05pm kick-off at the Emirates Stadium. This game is seen by many as the match that will essentially decide the winners of this competition. A little disrespectful to Marseille and RB Salzburg but you can see the argument behind the thinking.

This week has been all about the talk surrounding Arsene Wenger's successor at Arsenal. Diego Simeone's name has been mentioned. It's unlikely his style of management will fit with what the Gunners board want but he's still a worthy candidate. In the Atletico camp, there's been persistent speculation on the futures of Simeone and his players such as Jan Oblak, Antoine Griezmann, and Diego Godin.

The 4-1 win for Wenger's side against a defensively-minded West Ham side showed not only that the Gunners can penetrate sturdy back-lines but it also showed a more united home crowd. The #WengerOut brigade have now got what they wanted so the discontent has disappeared. That will make for a more vibrant atmosphere.

However, Atletico are a far more competent side than the Hammers. Even so, it will take a mammoth defensive effort to keep Arsenal at bay. Particularly an Arsenal side with their attacking players currently brimming with confidence. The Gunners have scored in 12 of their last 14 competitive games. Atletico might have conceded in their previous 8 matches on the road but they have also scored in 9 of their 12 away matches in all competitions.

It's hard to call a winner here. It's finely balanced. We all know how erratic Arsenal can be against the elite teams. Their record against the top six in the Premier League isn't very impressive but their complete destruction of AC Milan in this competition already shows they have it in their locker to dismantle even the best teams in Europe. Back the goals to fly in and it might also be worth backing Arsenal for a draw no bet with their home record this season.

Marseille vs RB Salzburg

The second Europa League Semi-Final match kicks off at 8:05pm tomorrow night between Ligue 1 side Marseille and Austrian Bundesliga club RB Salzburg at the Orange Velodrome. These two sides were never up there with the favourites to win this competition for punters but it's a massive opportunity for both to make history for their supporters.

Marseille will feel this is a game they can win. Their home record is superb this season with Rudi Garcia's team only suffering 2 defeats in the league at home and remaining undefeated at home in the Europa League. That said, RB Salzburg have only lost 3 competitive matches away all season.

These two sides have met twice in this competition already having been drawn in Group I together. RB Salzburg won the home tie 1-0 and held Marseille to a 0-0 draw in France. It will be interesting to see how much failing to score against their opponents this season so far will impact Marseille psychologically. On the plus side, Marseille have already disposed of one Red Bull branded team after beating RB Leipzig 5-3 on aggregate in the previous round. A victory against modern football you could say!

The French side are a much stronger attacking threat now than they were earlier in the season so these two legs might not be as dull on the goals front as before Christmas. Marseille have scored 11 goals in their last 3 Europa League games at home and 28 goals in their last 10 competitive home games. RB Salzburg showed they can score when they need to having come back from 4-2 down in the first leg against Lazio in the previous round to win 6-5 on aggregate.

My feeling is that Marseille could sneak this one based on current form. They are a team full of confidence right now. RB Salzburg displayed signs of weakness away against Lazio. If Marseille can exploit those vulnerabilities again then RB Salzburg might be in trouble. Still, this is a massive occasion for both sides. Marseille haven't won a major European title since 1993. RB Salzburg's best European finish was as runners-up in the UEFA Cup back in 1994 as SV Austria Salzburg. Nerves will be jangling. Mistakes will be made. I think Marseille might sneak this one though.

It will be a beautiful battle between two traditional teams with a lot of experience in European competitions. I'm expecting Atletico Madrid to be in line with her defensive tactics, so I expect a closed match with few goals and terms
ARSENAL FC vs ATLETICO MADRID @@ +2.50 Under, odds 1.75

A big match for the two teams is a strong motivation to play in the Europa League final and to claim the title, the two teams are naive defensive, while aggressively are better and score with ease, I expect open goal match
