I think I'll take the -1.5 handicap and so basically saying he'll win without a deciding frame. Ofcourse, at some point, Robertson will turn up and start performing again. He is too talented not too, assuming he still has some sort of motivation. However, as @Torque said, Hawkins would have a chance even without that. 2pts Hawkins (-1.5 frames) to beat Robertson 5/4 Betfair

Hawkins at odds against would have been an automatic play for me. As it is, he's the favourite but I still think he should be shorter. Robertson seems to be in the midst of a kind of 'snooker mid-life crisis' right now and hasn't played well for some time. Hawkins has been playing well enough anyway to win this without the issues that Robertson has been experiencing. Maybe take the frame cap to boost the price.

  5. Natalija Stevanovic to beat Maya Joint at 2.02 with Unibet Maya Joint put in a couple of very good performances in Canberra, where she upset Errani and Seidel before losing to Tauson. That's impressive, but I don't think we should start putting her as the favourite against players like Stevanovic just yet. Most importantly, Stevanovic has this very annoying playing style that's all about slices and low-bouncing shots, which is something that inexperienced players often struggle to deal with. At odds against, I'm happy to back Stevanovic here.

    Asian Cup 2023

The 2023 edition of the Asian Cup kicks off in the Qatar this Friday. Current Odds Tournament Averages since 2011 Asian Cup Quarter Finalists since 2000 Competitive Records v (current) Top 100 FIFA Ranked Nations since International football resumed during the pandemic Outright Projections Name the Finalists/ Straight Forecast Group and Knockout Projections Bets 1pt Iran to win Outright @ 7/1 (Various) 0.25pts Oman to win Outright @ 50/1 (Various) Japan are the rightful favourites for me but I can let them win at 5/2. The 4 time champions have a straight forward looking group and are projected a kind route to the Semi-Final. I'll be focusing my attention on the bottom half of the draw which brings me to Iran. The Iranians are favourites to top their group which will land them a L16 tie with a 3rd placed side, they're projected to face South Korea in QF and I would fancy the winner of this tie to make the final, I wouldn't put anybody off backing the Koreans but I prefer Iran as there are a couple of (albeit unlikely) scenarios which could see South Korea run into Japan or Saudi Arabia in the L16. The last section of the draw looks particularly weak, however my pick for an Outsider would be Oman who should back up Saudi Arabia in Group F leading to a L16 tie with fellow group runners up Uzbekistan (the market favors the Uzbeks FYI). Hosts Qatar or 3rd place team await in QF before potentially Iran/ South Korea in a semi.

  7. The 2024 edition of the African Cup of Nations kicks off in the Ivory Coast this Saturday evening. Current Odds Tournament Averages since 2002 (corners since 2013) AFCON Quarter Finalists since 2002 Competitive Records v (current) Top 100 FIFA Ranked Nations since International football resumed during the pandemic Outright Projections Name the Finalists/ Straight Forecast Group and Knockout Projections Bets 1pt Ivory Coast to win Outright @ 7/1 (Various) The last 7 renewals have produced 7 different winners shows just how open this tournament is I'm in agreement with the market and don't have much at all between the top 7/8 teams in the betting. Looking at how the projected draw shapes up I like the path the winner of Group A has; 3rd place team in the L16 then likely Ghana/ DR Congo in the QF, which ever if those sides progresses will likely be the lowest rated side in the Quarters (pending any upsets) before a Semi-Final showdown with the reigning Champions Senegal. It's the Ivory Coast with their home advantage who get the nod to top Group A over Nigeria. I usually like to have an outsider on side but looking at the projected draw any outsider is likely going to have to beat 4 of the top sides in the knockouts and i just can't see any of them doing so. I will of course be keeping a close eye on things and if the draw opens up along the way

  9. Somewhat of a strange results day today. Linette really should have won. Served for thematch twice, and had a couple of match points. Burel was all over Navarro but just couldn't seal the deal. Got annoyed at the end of the match and lost 9 straight points at the end. Is the Kooyong Classic just too risky to bet on. Nobody cares?

  14. Two for tonight for me. Adelaide, Linette to beat Alexandrova, 2.33 with Unibet. Alexandrova hasn't played for a long time and I would make this a 50/50 match. Hobart, Yuan to beat Stephens 2.70 with Unibet. Sloane can't be trusted at the best of times and Yuan likes playing on the hard court and has come through qualifying here.

  15. Welcome back to another update for the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League. Apologies for the lack of updates for the past couple of weeks but I have been on holiday and then got struck down by the old covid. Fear not, I am back and fighting fit now so here is the latest look at the table. There is a new leader at the top of the tree in Steve Durrant's EsteSakaMinging. They are being hotly pursued by @skyblues88's Show me the Mane who are just 16 points behind after gaining 6 points on the league leaders in the last round. The previous leader, @Gray306, is still in the hunt back in 3rd place but there will be concerns in their camp over the drop in form recently. Last round's total of 59 points could prove hugely damaging. It was a high-scoring week last week which can largely be attributed to some big-name players scoring well. Notably, Mohamed Salah, who was captained by a lot of people. This led to several teams breaching the 100-point mark. ET vd Watt's DXB_Juggernauts, @DLL's Pain In Diaz, Dave Owens' Flying Without Ings, and @akarsioti's Τσούχτρα all managed to hit three figures for their totals but it was @jjallan993 and their Allan's Allstars side that sneaked the Manager of the Week accolade with 102 points. Their decision to captain Salah whilst also including high scorers in Alphonse Areola, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden helped. Now, I know you've all missed this over the festive period. Yes, it was lovely to be kind and merry but Christmas is over people. It's time to get vitriolic again! In a week when high scores were aplenty (I mean, come on, even I hit 88 points and I'm actively trying to make you all feel better by being rubbish! ) you'd think that the lowest scores would be a little higher as well. Wrong! One of the wishes that Nicholas Smyth's 17 Wishes side wished for must've been to avoid finishing last in the scores this week because despite getting just 19 points they didn't pick up the worst score. That unwanted achievement went to Stephen Sullivan's Steps to Victory team who only earned 15 points. In the village stocks with you young man! The deadline for transfers this week is 6:15pm UK time on Friday 12th January. Please bear in mind that the Africa Cup of Nations begins this week so take that into account when preparing your teams for this weekend's action!

  18. Irina Bara (+5.5) to beat Eva Lys at 1.81 with Pinnacle I had a chance to watch Eva Lys in the previous round, and I wasn't particularly impressed. Her serve was very attackable and Erjavec made it quite easy for her. I still think she's the favourite against Bara and that she'll probably come through, but the +5.5 line looks a touch big to me.

  21. You lost 2 and a half quid a week. Most people lose that on playing a lottery that is almost impossible to win on. This year i will be reasonably happy losing £2 quid a week given i have scaled all my research right back to ~30 mins a day from 4+ hours.
