Serie A Predictions > May 18th - 20th

Recommended Posts

Beginning of a run-down run from Serie B in Serie A, with Specia being the host of the Città. Clearly the big name for the pair here is the home team, but they have to show in the field. In front of their audience they are always more efficient and they certainly would like a good scoring against the repeat at the Citadella headquarters in a few days. The match hides difficulties, but the head factor can tilt the balance to the left

Lazio vs Bologna

Serie A carries on into Monday night this week when Lazio host Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico in a 7:30pm kick-off and there are very good reasons for both of these teams to give everything to try and win this fixture. Lazio can stay in touch with the Europa League qualifications places with a win and Bologna can secure their survival with a victory.

Lazio come into this game in 8th place with a win would move them to just 2 points behind 6th placed Roma heading into the last round of matches. Simone Inzaghi's side won the Coppa Italia in midweek with a 2-0 win over Atalanta so European qualification is secured but it would give the squad confidence to know they would have reached Europe through the league too.

Bologna haven't had the best of campaigns with the club currently in 14th position. Sinisa Mihajlovic has overseen a huge transformation in the side since he took over in January. A run of 7 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses in their last 10 league games has saved their Serie A status... well, almost. The team is 3 points clear of the drop with a 9 goal advantage on goal difference compared to 18th placed Genoa so safety is all but guaranteed but a draw or win in this game would confirm it.

The home team haven't been in the best of form lately but that could be blamed on the Coppa Italia Final being a distraction. Fortunately for them, they're up against a Bologna side that have only won 2 of their 18 league games on the road. I think the cup win will have boosted the confidence of Lazio and even though Bologna are on a decent run I think the home team should sneak a victory.
