Group 3 Chantilly 2.40 - GOT TO LOVE A GREY . 1 of 2 for K.Burke in race & rated 100 , has won 2 Listed races on fast & testing surfaces & won here a month a go , now the bad bit , was 4/1 with bet365 yesterday early evening , now 10/11 . 6th , drifted from odds on to 11/4 but best of the other UK raiders who finished 8th & 10th , glad I didn't back it , the price 4-1 to 10/11 put me off .4 points -
Gracious Leader 4:05 Newmarket (10/1 Bet365). Taken some of the early price as probably won't get much bigger. 5/2 fav on debut back in October, promising run and should appreciate the better ground. Each way as there are some possibly decent rivals. 0.5 pts e/w 10/1 (bet365). Tailed off š¬ P/L: -1.7pts.3 points

did have a little e/w on Schindler to be honest. After I found out he was local to the event and he was playing so well in his first match, I tried to get the 50/1 on him but it skipped to 33/1 annoyingly. Still, 33/1 was a great price.3 points

Barring the most ridiculous end, Scheffler donning the Green Jacket again. Thank god for the boost from mgm, as wouldn't have went for him at those odds, even though I fancied him. Barring DeChambeau really think those Liv players motivation to be at their best is going to be a problem because of the money they earn. Look at the top of that leaderboard and it's all the non Liv. Got a bad feeling Rory ain't gonna get that jacket, here's hoping it comes though.3 points -
š picked wrong one again for Daily Nap competition! ......Windsor 3.50 backed Champagne Sarah 20/1 ( daily nap) & Under the Twilight 14/1 to WIN as both like Good ground! hey ho, however in 'real money' we well up with the 14/1 Winner š š· ......... ps.... the 3 day Craven meeting starts tomorrow at Newmarket and if our friends hear / back anything of note, then will post it on here like last year with some nice big priced winners from them during the flat season š pps.... mite be worth having a small flutter on 2 in 4.20 Windsor.... Alcazan 9/1 ran in G1/2/3 last summer and Bishops Crown 4/1 WON as always in the frame š¤2 points

Alnilam 2:00 Kelso (8/11). Maybe slightly disappointing in a hot race last time but this is way easier and should win barring accidents. The 2nd fav looked a plodder when winning Hexham on heavy. 1pt win 8/11 Almost threw it away at the last but hung on. 2nd fav did better than I thought she would. P/L: -0.7pts2 points

Newmarket 1.50 Day Two of the Craven meeting starts with a maximum field of twenty for this class 2 6F handicap. The race was won last year by Charlie Hillsās Orazio and heāll be tough to beat back to defend his title even though he will be 11lb higher than last year. He prepped for this by running a fine third in the listed Cammidge Trophy (beaten 1 1/2L by Montassib) at Doncaster (his first since being gelded) and the ground should be ideal for him today with William Buick back on board from a similar stall as last year. Heās the bet here with the likes of Significantly and Chipstead the types who could also run well. ORAZIO 1 point each way @ 9/2 William Hill 1/5th 12345 Cheltenham 2.05 A maximum field of eighteen line up for the first of two races aired live by ITV in the shape of this 2M 4F 56 yard class 2 handicap hurdle. The race has an open look with amongst the front of the betting being the hat trick seeking Spring Note of Nicky Hendersonās and Chris Gordonās easy Plumpton winner Sea Invasion. Both hold solid chances but I prefer the in form Robbie Llewelyn trained Titan Discovery who has been a revelation since going handicapping winning at Ascot and Sandown and going down by half a length to Boombawn at Kempton on the Saturday after Cheltenham. That form has already been boosted by the win of the fourth Dan Skeltonās Kateira at Aintree. Heās risen 20lb since going handicapping and is up another 3lb for that latest second. Llewelyn has won with 3 of his last 4 runners and he looks a good each way bet. TITAN DISCOVERY 1 point each way @ 8/1 Coral 1/5th 12345 Newmarket 2.25 Ten promising three year olds go to post for this listed 9F Feilden Stakes which can throw up a nice type (Golden Horn won this in 2015). Andre Fabre is a rare visitor to these shores nowadays and anything he sends over has to be respected so the fact that Narkez is here, having won already in France 22 days ago, is highly significant. His two wins however have come on very soft ground so Iāll look elsewhere for the winner. Charlie Applebyās El CĆ³rdobes who cost 2,000,000 guineas as a yearling being by Frankel out of a Sea The Stars mare improved to take a Kempton novice stakes over a mile on his second start at the turn of the year and looks a horse to follow. This represents a step up in class for him but he looks sure to be thereabouts and can run a big race. Aidan OāBrien also sends one over from Ireland in the shape of Group 2 Zetland Stakes runner up Gasper De Lemos and must also be given plenty of respect. EL CORDOBES 1 point each way @ 5/1 bet365 1/5th 123 Cheltenham 2.40 The valuable 2M 4F 127 yard Silver Trophy Handicap Chase has attracted a dozen chasers and has an open feel about it with Cheltenhamās Grand Annual Handicap Chase fifth In Excelsis Deo high on the shortlist. The ground will be better here now mind and that may play into course specialist Il Ridotoās hands. Trained in Somerset by Paul Nicholls his course figures here read 844163238 and although theres just one victory there heās been placed in many of the better 2M 4F handicap chases here over the past three years. He wasnāt disgraced when 8th in the Plate Handicap Chase at the Festival here in March and surprisingly the handicapper has dropped him 3lb putting him onto a mark that he was a short head second to Fugitif over course and distance in the December Gold Cup. He looks sure to run his race with Harry Cobden taking over from conditional Freddie Gingell. IL RIDOTO 1 point each way @ 11/2 bet365 1/5th 1234 Newmarket 3.00 Ten have declared for the Group 3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes in which last yearās winner Ottoman Fleet, trained by Charlie Appleby, looks sure to go well and enhance his excellent course record of three wins from four starts. He may bump into one here mind in the shape of the Roger Varian trained Embesto who had a good first season last year as a three year old winning three of his five starts ending the season with 2 1/2L fourth in a Group 2 at Longchamp. The vibes are strong from Newmarket about this Roaring Lion colt and he looks the value bet in the contest. Royal Rhyme is a progressive horse of Karl Burkeās but seems best on very soft ground and is overlooked on that reason alone. EMBESTO 1 point each way @ 5/1 bet365 1/5th 123 Newmarket 3.35 A 1000 Guineas trial, the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes has attracted a field of eleven this year including representatives from Aidan OāBrien and Charlie Appleby. The warm favourite trained by the latter is Dance Sequence, who is only a 5/1 chance for the 1000 Guineas itself. She has looked a smart performer winning bath her starts as a juvenile, a maiden on the July course here and the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes over course and distance last October by a neck from Skellet. She has the highest official rating in the field and will be hard to beat although is no value at her current price. The Aidan OāBrien runner is Matrika who was last seen winning a Group 2 at the Curragh over 6F in July. Only rated 3lb behind Dance Sequence she maybe the value bet at the prices to beat the favourite. Best of the rest may well be the Roger Varian filly True Cyan who, like the two aforementioned fillies, holds a 1000 Guineas entry as well (currently a 66-1 chance). No reason if you get four in a day not to pop them on to a lucky 15 to small stakes, or even a patent if three for that matter.1 point

A little bonus in speed figures is it is very easy to produce a list/become aware of bad/poor horses which are a very good measure of the strength of a race especially if the said horse is fav or second fav. Great for deciding what stake to invest if you have one at a decent price.1 point

Neil Robertson could be a real threat. He has looked back to best or close to it, recently. You can still get him at 14/1. I get the feeling that once he beats Jamie Jones or Burden that he'll come into single figures.1 point

Well in my opinion and they way i formulate speed figures, i go off all its wins and places, horses move up and down the handicap over the years so they are relevant certainly for 4 years and i would suggest beyond, didn't Documenting win the other day at a decent price 22/1? That horse is 11 years old, Boom the Groom won 3 times last year at decent prices and that one is 13, the older horses tend to run at their own level all be it lack consistency steadily dropping down in grade until they are retired. That's why i am very weary of handicaps and only use speed seriously in Pattern races or in the heritage handicaps "worth winning". That's not to say they should be discarded because i use this type of horse in Lucky 15 etc for a bit of fun and have done reasonably well out of them. One thing to bear in mind about distances and goings in pattern races the top trainers have a pretty good idea of whether a horse can do the trip or ground particularly as they age from 2yo-3yo-4yo that's why we have so many horses pulled out if the conditions don't suit Trueshan is a good example of that. I do disregard or downgrade horses at distances that they haven't won over once they reach 4 year old and beyond especially in sprints but there are always exceptions to the rules.1 point
