Semi-Finals Predictions > Dec 13th & 14th
harry_rag and one other reacted to StevieDay1983 for a topic
OK, so this World Cup is tearing a new one in quite a few of us! Croatia knocking out Brazil was a shock in its own right but Morocco eliminating Portugal was arguably one of the biggest shocks in the history of the competition. Two semi-final matches coming up now. Argentina and France are the clear favourites to progress and what a final that would be but who will go through? Anything has happened and anything could happen in this tournament! Give us your predictions!2 points -

Charlie Appleby's PHRENIKOS is a half brother to Corebus and looks a bit of a monkey.Very short price and one to leave alone win or lose. Played hard both runs and James Doyle couldn't put him right last time. Will Buick is back on from Yarmouth debut where he jumped a path and couldn't get home. This is an ordinary run of the mill maiden which he might well win. But with nothing to lose. RAY OF COLOURS Travels from Yorkshire on an awful night and led early on debut before falling away A couple of quid each way will do no harm here. The other bet here possibly is the winning distance ( any runner) to be over 1.25 which is worth going for in a small field @ 13/82 points -

Three runners from from five in the first four home in the opener but no cigar for going along with the main choice who was last. 1.45 lingfield due off later, The top weight may be able to defy a penalty for winning last time out. If he cannot, then the runner below him, may take advantage. OWER STARLIGHT Win CHAGALL Each way. Small reverse forecast OWER STARLIGHT has been running well recently and only won four runs back. Chagall won off two pounds higher at Dundalk. Dundalk 2.45 Den of Iniquity Win Joseph O'Brien runner who was touched off by Shangrilama, who then stepped up to a mile and won readily on Friday. Den attempts the same in this maiden and should benefit from the extra furlong. Shangrilama had run several times on turf previously, so was putting that experience to good effect, which puts Den of iniquity's performance in an even better light.2 points -

Strange old day with Lingfield running about half hour late and another inspection at Wolves 2 pm 112 Lin Pop's Dancer 1 pt win at 6.2 ( a drifter in the market but is an @The Brigadier selection plus an @MCLARKE 5yo selection. Looks like Sergeant Tibbs is favourite, probably because Robyn Brisland won the first race, though the horse doesn't look like one to bank on. Mick's Spirit looks interesting slagged off by Timeform but has 6 experts recommend it. I will have 0.50 ins bet on this one at 7/2 2.20 Lin Dark Kris 1 pt win at 4.1 2.50 Lin Gold Standard 1 pt win at 7.2 with 0.50save bet on Uther Pendragon at 7/2 3.20 Lin Laurentia 1 pt ew at 11.0 Total = 6 pts May look at Wolves later if I make tome to do so. Good luck everyone Just one saver winner so far that returned 2.25 I will have a little go with @richard-westwood's selections in the 5.30 at Wolves. 0.50 Reverse forecast the top two = poss return of 38 -40 pts. + 0.50 win his top 4 at 10/1, 15/2, 4/1 and 7/1 = a total of 3 pts staked should have had an ins bet on the favourite esp as @The Brigadiertipped it 6.30 Blue Hero 1 pt ew at 6.2 8.30 Stranger Things 1 pt ew at 10.5 (matched) Total stakes = 13 pts today ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just my luck to get 4th when I back each way. Welll done to @The Brigadierwho tipped Starfighter when 9/1 could be obtained 8.00 Letetr Of the Law 1 pt ew at 17.67 Makes 15 pt staked today --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All the horses I backed each way finished just out of the place money. Marvelous. Officially no points today but I backed Punxsutawny Phil for just place money and it went on to win. Doesn't count for results purposes so a -15 pts loss recorded on the day. My MTD is now -39.51 and this pushes my YTD loss over 300.00 points at -302.95 Two all weather meetings tomorrow with a precautionary inspection at Southwell. No real class racing so we'll just have to take it or leave it.2 points -

1142 Goes off around midday. Lingfield Alexander selection PRAISE OF SHADOWS Each way Finished second and close behind two runners who fought out an even closer finish at the weekend, so form is very strong.... Also runs off career low mark The top weights CALONNE, MUMAYAZ and KATHS TOYBOY , are added to CAPPATTY CON and PRAISE OF SHADOWS for the combination tricast. four of these runners are drawn together on the even side with the exception being kaths toyboy low draw and Joanna mason's only ride today.2 points -

Having finally managed to win a PL prize I feel a little embarassed taking the winnings so I have decided to donate them to the player who shows the highest annual profit this calendar year. This is currently @kenisbusywith Β£122 followed by @internetmailswith Β£112. Attached is a list of all those who have commendably achieved a profit so far this year. Personally I think this is a truer test of ability than the monthly competitions.1 point

Wolverhampton 5.30 ACONCAGUA MOUNTAIN Win Zero form in Ireland lit up by magic visor in England. Slammed opposition including four of these latest. Seven pound hike may be harsh but it isnβt a penalty. won coming over the top after tardy start at redcar. DUKE OF FIRENZE Each way a qualifier and last win off about thirty pounds higher this year. Running on behind this winner last time. Long losing runs, but one of the best class six runners in training...1 point -

ADDITIONAL ANNUAL PRIZE
Xtc12 reacted to justanotherpunter for a topic
Could be a very good idea - However some thought could be made to make it more of a challenge - Any dumpling could enter the lowest price of the day and claim to have the best strike rate??? as now happens in the main comp. Maybe consider no odds on shots allowed and also restrict odds to under 20/1 at time of bet placement to rule out wild 250/1 ew shots Also no ew bets allowed as this would then give meaning to most winners Only my thoughts of course - feel free to ignore π1 point -

Once again I strike, Rams can't buy a win, pip Raiders with seconds to go, had win, Jacobs first td and raiders 15 pts +, another moneyback but still annoying. Did get saved by WH SOTD offer had done their special of akers and Jacobs and 2 fgs at 9s, so was a profit but could've been better. Been great at ending runs on either side in NFL, same with football oh and I may have just backed Honeysuckle last week too..... As a Scotsman I'm off to put a big bet on England to win the WC1 point
