Ayr gold cup

Popmaster  9.0 18.0

Aleezdancer  8.8 34.0

Khanjar   8.8 5.4

Motagally  8.5 22.0

These 4 are well clear of rest so I'll be surprised if 1 or more don't go close .....I'll try 10pt win  khanjar ....3pt wins other 3 ..and 12x 0.5 forecasts

Quick one Richard, why are you going 10pts on Khanjar when it’s only your third top rated?

Well ...he's joint 2nd and I have these 4 clear of rest so this way I'll have all 4 running for me for a minimum profit of 29 and the possibility of a bigger prize if results go well ?.....I like that bet ....

I could have ignored him and gone ew on the others but he's improving fast and tbh is the most likely winner ? so warrants respect

Ayr 1.20

A competitive fourteen runner one mile class 2 handicap with likely favourite being George Boughey’s three year old Koy Koy who should be thereabouts but is short enough for a horse that took a keen hold last time and wears a first time hood today. I’ll take him on with a couple of course specialists. Redarna arrives in good form and has a record here of six wins from nine starts for trainer Diana Sayer. Runner up in a handicap at the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot last time she can be competitive. The other track specialist is Katie Scott’s Gweedore who’s record at the West Scotland track reads 64211151. He too arrives in good recent form having been runner up at Musselburgh and races today off of the same mark. Hard to split them so with enhanced places I’ll Dutch the pair to small stakes each way.

REDARNA 1 point each way @ 9/1 Betfred 1/5th 1234

GWEEDORE 1 point each way @ 12/1 Betfred 1/5th 1234

Newbury 1.40

Nine have declared for the group 3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Stakes, run over 1m 3F it was formerly known as the Arc Trial (though only in name!). The highest rated in the race is the Saeed Bin Suroor trained Dubai Future who was a Royal Ascot winner back in June. He maybe be the biggest threat to my selection Siskany trained by Charlie Appleby like Bin Suroor at Newmarket. He’s not been seen since finishing third at Riyadh last February but the vibes are strong for the Godolphin gelding who’s won 5 of his 11 career starts. He’ll be ridden today by Adam Kirby with William Buick in Canada to ride for the Godolphin team. Last years winner Solid Stone is also in the field but has to shoulder a 5lb penalty here. Two three year olds line up in the shape of Lysander and Stay Alert with preference of that pair lying with the latter who if settling better can be a player at a price.

SISKANY 2 points win @ 10/3 bet365

Ayr 1.55

The 10F Doonside Cup Stakes is a listed race for three year olds and their elders and features a warm favourite in James Horton’s rapidly improving three year old Phantom Flight. He’s hard to oppose here having bolted up in a York handicap when last seen in August winning by five lengths. He’s the highest rated here some 2lb higher than Ed Walker’s Stormy Antarctic who prefers softer ground and 3lb ahead of the likely danger Royal Champion trained by Roger Varian. Euchan Glen has a question mark over him dropping half a mile in trip whilst Chichester is held by the confident selection.

PHANTOM FLIGHT 3 points win @ 7/4 bet365

Newbury 2.15

Thirteen go to post for this Group 3 5F Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes. The highest rated of the bakers dozen is Clive Cox’s Tis Marvelous who did us a nice turn last time out in the Beverley Bullet, winning well for the second year in a row. He was third in this last year but I think he can go two better here today under Paul Hanagan who rode him last time. John Ryan’s Manacan is favoured of the pair in the early betting but I would have Tis Marvelous favourite here and he looks sure to run a big race. Mitbaahy, like Manacan, is a three year old who can play some part in the finish although he will have to put a below par effort at Goodwood behind him.

TIS MARVELOUS 2 points win @ 4/1 BetVictor

Ayr 2.30

A maximum field of 25 assemble for the 6F Silver Cup, a race that should give us some clues as to where you want to be drawn for the Gold Cup an hour later. There’s one horse here that’s 6lb ahead of his mark is drawn up against a rail arriving in good form with his latest effort being a career best. Archie Watson’s Emperor Spirit is the horse who seemed to improve for the application of cheek pieces at Ffos Las three weeks ago when going down by a head to Tammawway despite hanging left throughout. Drawn in one and the mount of Rossa Ryan he’s the selection in a wide open renewal. There’s many dangers including Tim Easterby’s course winner Snash and Antony Brittain’s Asadjumeriah but I’m with Emperor Spirit each way with the enhanced places.

EMPEROR SPIRIT 1 point each way @ 16/1 bet365 1/5th 123456

Newbury 2.50

A small but select field of seven go to post for the Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes for two year olds run over 6F. A warm favourite is the impressive Haydock winner from 16 days ago in Sakheer trained by St Leger winning trainer Roger Varian. He was visually very impressive that day coasting home by 6L but will face much stronger opposition today in the Hannon duo Shouldhavebeenaring and Wallop. The former is currently rated 101 having won a valuable sales race at York’s Ebor meeting and the listed Champion Two Year Old Trophy at Ripon (beat Bolt Action a neck who races at Ayr Friday afternoon) and will be a tough opponent. Hannon’s other runner is Wallop and interests with the firms paying three places in the seven runner contest (Betfred and bet365). He ran an eye catching race on his debut at Newmarket when third to subsequent Gimcrack winner Noble Style and the useful Mill Stream only going down by a length and a quarter, that was a hell of a debut run and I would have him clear third favourite here so will back him each way with a win only bet on Sakheer.

WALLOP 1 point each way @ 16/1 bet365 1/5 123

SAKHEER 2 points win @ 11/10 Coral

Ayr 3.05

A dozen two year old fillies go to post for this Group 3 Fifth Of Clyde Stakes. Kevin Ryan has his team in good shape having the first two winners of the Western meeting on Thursday and saddles the warm favourite Queen Me here. She followed up her debut Haydock victory with an excellent neck second to Swingalong in the Lowther Stakes at York a month ago. That’s by far the best piece of form in the race and she’ll be very hard to beat if reproducing that form. The Crisford’s All The Time went down by a neck in the Group 3 Dick Poole at the beginning of the month (Maria Bramwell and Poetic Union behind and held) and maybe the best of the opposition. Clive Cox’s Bonny Angel ran away with a nursery last time but that was off of only 77 and will need to improve plenty to take a hand in the finish.

QUEEN ME 3 points win @ 11/8 Boylesports

QUEEN ME & PHANTON FLIGHT 1 point win double 11/8 & 7/4 Boylesports

Newbury 3.25

Next up is the Dubai Duty Free Handicap run over 10F and has attracted thirteen runners. Charlie Appleby could be in for another good day and can strike with his first string here Warren Point who is a rapidly improving three year old who can take this before stepping out of handicaps. He’s been raised 8lb for his latest victory at Goodwood when heading his stable mate Blue Trail close home winning by a neck with just over three lengths back to the remainder. With William Buick away in Canada Adam Kirby comes in for the ride and can make it a winning one. Appleby also saddles handicap debutant Ottoman Fleet who will be ridden by Pat Dobbs. The father and son team of Simon and Ed Crisford run Sea The Casper, an improving gelding who’s up 5lb for his latest victory at Kempton on the all weather and has claims along with Hamaki from team Haggas who arrives in search of a hat trick following wins at Haydock and Ascot rising 9lb for that brace of victories.

WARREN POINT 2 points win @ 10/3 William Hill

WAREEN POINT & SISKANY 1 point each way double 10/3 & 5/2 William Hill

3.40

A maximum field of 25 go to post for the latest renewal of the Ayr Gold Cup run over 6F. The weights are headed by Michael Dod’s five year old Comanche Falls who comes her in excellent form having backed up his Stewards Cup victory with a good second to Summerghand at York who reopposes today on 2lb worse terms. He was 7th in this last year and is one of many with a chance of sorts. Also high on the short list is last years emphatic winner Bielsa. He came storming home on the near side stands rail from stall 25 to take the race apart off of 98 and although he’s yet to repeat that form since has fallen back down to a mark of 99 and with the Kevin Ryan team in good form can go well from stall 17. Mr Wagyu has kept his form all season and should run his race for the in form John Quinn yard whilst Vadream bounced back to form last time and is one of two that Charlie Fellowes runs here, Chiefofchiefs being the other. William Haggas took this event with a lightly raced sort in Nahaarr back in 2020 and has the favourite here in the similar type, if year younger Khanjar. A Haydock winner last time he shoulders a 5lb penalty and if there one horse that could blow the field apart it could be him but at the likely odds of around 9/2 I’m happy to look elsewhere. Bielsa is the one that attracts me most and I’ll play him each way with the additional places.

BIELSA 1 point each way @ 10/1 bet365 1/5th 123456

Ayr Gold Cup .

Bielsa won this last year , previous winners don't do back to back wins .

The last 4 renewals the winner has came from a double figure draw .

Two who were placed last year are back again .

MR.WAGYU ( 12/1 bet365 ) 6 places , was 3rd here last season & has been consistent at top level handicaps this season , has good draw but 5Lb higher this season , should still be in the mix .

5th 9/1 ?

MOTAGALLY ( 16/1 sky bet ) 7 places . ?

Unlike most in here this one is still fresh having only 2 runs , has changed yards from last year when finishing 4th & is off a 4Lb lower mark & with a high draw .

Ayr Silver Cup .

Unlike the Gold Cup over same trip 5 of the last 6 winners came from single figure draws & last 6 winners all returned at double figure prices .

GOOD EARTH ( 12/1 sky bet ) 7 places : 10's with bet365 , 16's with WH .

4th 22/1 , shame no b.o.g with Sky but small return nonetheless.

Has been improving  with 3 wins & 6 placed efforts from last 10 runs including 2nd in Great St Wilfred 2 runs ago , likes nothing worse than good so any rain massive hindrance .

APLOMB ( 16/1 bet365 ) 6 places .

6th 16/1 , another small return.

Has only ran 3 times this season since changing yards from Haggas to JC Hyam , was 11th in this race last year & take into account the claimers 3Lb allowance is 7Lb lower.

A big fat overpriced horse (imo) is AVA GO JO 33/1 bog 6places  people may be put off  by  two wins this year where at 5f but has one at 6f ground is ideal  will outrun its price i think also its fro mthe Easterby yard which is a plus they do have  the fav in this but i like this big fat bad boy!

GOLD CUP

I had a  e/w bet on Gullver 25/1 4places after  he ran 6th last week  at the  curragh  but drying  ground and  half the price now would not touch

I too  am a MOTAGALLY  fan i'm on e/w 15/1 6p not bog gutted i missed the much bigger prices.ran well last year when winner  stole the race  by staying to far side should go well with a few lbs less this year andwill be fresher than most. and drying  ground suits.

i really think GIS A SUB will out run its odds 25/1 6places bog looks very  generous decent horse this  you can forget its last run did not get a good  start was its first run in a handicap will do better has a 2lb weight drop today ground suits one to keep an eye on going forward imo no matter what happens today!

RESULTS UPDATE

The second day of having a multiple bet comprised of non-handicap selections.  Huge money spinner for the bookies.  Not a whiff of a winner.  Luckily, my side bets paid off.  My biggest regret was placing 3 pts to win on Siskany with all the hype that surrounded it.  Three winners at the bigger odds.  I only lost 0.64 pts on the day which was a relief.  My MTD stands at +49.81 and YTD is -246.76

Obviously it was a bad day for a lot of fancied horses.  However, I have decided that despite their thrashing I am going to switch tactics.  I will have either doubles or Trixies on the favourites with a minimum price of even money and very small stakes of 0.5 for doubles and Trixies just in case they deliver in multiples.  No singles stakes if included in a multiple, albeit a strong favourite at 5/2 + may be tempting sometimes.  My main bets will be on 2nd/3rd or possibly 4th favourites that may also be included in their own multiple bets at the bigger prices.  I'm truly fed up with favourites right now.  It seems to me that the bookies are making up false favourites to line their pockets.  There is one exception to this and this is where you sometimes see a market mover pushed into favouritism.  Even then one has to check whether this is genuine or just another bookies trick

Only two Uk meetings Sunday and not much in the way of class events.  Will take a peak though

I am gutted

At Catterick I have been putting winners in my pocket. Win, win, win...sniper accuracy

At Wolverhampton the last time I backed a winner was in 1994 (or was it 1984 or was that something else?)

Anyway out all day and just getting home in time for Wolves 7.30 I have no choice but to Waltz with Wollybags.

7.30 On The Pulse ew

8.00 Shes the Danger win.

I am shooting out of the door. My horse and cart has arrived.

Cheers
