Swashbuckle NAP 7/2 Bet365

Andrew Balding's 4yo won twice over 12f at Ffos Las last season but was always going to better the further he went. Ran well at York last back end and has since been placed third twice this season including at Newbury last time out. Looks to have found a nice opportunity here to get his head back in front.

Chester 1.50 Gabrial's Kaka @ 12/1 WH e/w

Gabrial's Kaka....from Richard Fahey yard and owned by the good Doctor Marwan Koukash who's horses have not been as good this year so far as he always runs a load here , The 7yo was 2nd in this race last year beaten by Hillbilly Boy beaten 2.5 length's off 90 mark , He goes off 93 today but has a good low draw (3) like last year where the top three where in the first 4 stalls , The yard gave him one run this season 41 days ago but was not ideal conditions good to soft at Doncaster 1m when beaten by 10 lengths and 15th of 21 runners but that was his first run since August last year , his past wins and good runs came on good to good to firm conditions and is off last winning mark 93 at Ayr 1m GF , Jockey Barry McHugh is in saddle today

1.50 Chester: Class 2 Handicap, 7.5 furlongs

Hot race with a potentially well handicapped favourite in lightly raced El Hayem however the James Eustace trained Ice Slice should go close from a good draw for a much better price.

He's already a CD winner and went close from a poor draw on his only second start here. Ice Slice was a massively improved horse last year winning five races and on form looks capable of running to or even above his current handicap rating of 93.

He probably needed his seasonal reappearance run last month and should strip fitter. Conditions will suit, even if a bit of rain would fall.

Selection:
10pts win - Ice Slice @ 8/1 Bet365

1.50 Chester

GABRIALS KAKA @ 11/1 Betfair SB

Second in this race last year from 3lb lower then second again here later in the month off only 1lb lower.  Has a great draw today and has had a blow out at Doncaster.  Last win came off this mark at Ayr.  Fast ground is where all his best form has been.  Double figure price makes him even more attractive as a betting proposition.

1.50 Chester - Tribal Path @ 33/1 Bet365

Tribal Path is the sort of horse who looks made for the test around Chester. He breaks extremely quickly and has well over 1f to get to the front before the bend so I don't think stall 10 will pose any problems. His best form is at tight turning tracks like Galway, Listowel and Bellewstown so he'll relish this test around Chester and could put his rivals under pressure front with little time to make up ground up the short run in. On top of that he actually looks to be on a fair mark given he's placed in some decent races off similar ratings. English is a trainer I rate and I wouldn't be surprised if this was the plan for a while and if he improves a little coming to a track that suits like Chester he looks considerably more likely than the odds suggest.
