Bahrikate 15/2 Skybet NAP

Tricky days racing so a chance is taken with Bahrikate in the last at Southwell. She sprang a surprise earlier in the year and has since ran well on a couple of occasions at Perth. Last time out she was unlucky when blundering her chance away two out, she ended up just behind the leaders and can go well here. Most of her rivals have plenty of questions to answer so the price looks value to me.

4.15 Southwell Table Bluff @ 16/1 bet365 e/w thanks

Table Bluff.....from David W Drinkwater yard was previously with John Spearing until September last year the new yard gave a run a week later at Worcester 2m 1/2f but finished 7th beaten 41 lengths not a great start at new yard as they put him away till June this year where two runs over 2m 4f at Worcester PU and 2m 6f at Stratford 8th where just as bad as the other race last year,

With three different distances tried all ready it was up to 3m here and low and behold he finished 2nd beaten a head and 24 days ago back to Worcester 2m 4f a 3rd which suggest the 3m is the best for him as Jockey Nico de Boinville has been saddle all races for yard first two chases and last over hurdles and bring him back to 3m here again could be the key for that win with Nico in saddle

4.35 Pontefract: Class 3 handicap, 1m

Eagle Creek has to be trusted to have fully recovered from his injury that led to a dismal performance at Newmarket and it remains unclear how good he really is. A mark of 95 could still underestimate him but for what we know about him at this point in time looks plenty stiff enough.

A smarter choice given prices is Lomu in my book. Unbeaten on turf and the one time beaten in his four career starts on the AW he still ran well in quite a hot race.

He is improving all the time, won cosily at Ayr when seen last - a performance better than the bare form suggests. He was extremely keen early on, didn't have quite a clear passage in the home straight and still won going away.

Stepping up in trip to 1m is not a concern on pedigree. He's certainly every chance to get it, no doubt. I'm more concerned about his keenness. He may have run his race before it really starts. Also his hold-up style at track that favours strong front-runners with the main rival being one of those potentially is dangerous.

Nonetheless it is worth a crack as Lomu appears to be open to any amount of improvement tackling the new trip. He gets a bit more mature as well as hopefully with experience settles better.

Selection:
Lomu @ 11/4 Bet365
