    Galatasaray
They are the top team in Turkish Super Liga, which have won the champion for more than twenty times. But they do not play well in European games. In last round, they draw with Randers FC at 1-1.

    Randers FC
It is the second time for them to play for the League. There is a lack of experience in the team. They are on a run now, which have been unbeaten for ten matches. They are likely to win as long as they keep up their chase.

    Verdict:
In fact, there is a gap between Galatasaray and Randers FC. Considering that Galatasaray is better at home games, with 100% in Turkish Super Liga this season so far. So Galatasaray stand the chance to win.

    Prediction: 2-1, 3-1

    HJK Helsinki
Although they are the top team in Finland Veikkausliga, there is not enough quality when they play for European games. They have been knocked out of UEFA Champions League by Malmo FF, which hurts their morale. It is unlucky that they meet Fenerbahce in Europa game.

    Fenerbahce
They are one of the top teams in Turkish Super Liga. They have a lot of experience of European games. The best record they have got was in 2012/13 season, when they won the third prize of UEFA Europa League.

    Verdict:
Fenerbahce are certainly better than HJK Helsinki. Fenerbahce go on a run now, with a three-match winning streak. And Fenerbahce have psychological advantage as they get a 1-0 clean sheet from HJK Helsinki in last game. So Fenerbahce will possibly win.

    Portimonense vs Gil Vicente
    Saturday 15/08/2021 15:30 PT
    Portimonense:
The home team comes from a surprising triumph in the 1st round of the championship, against Guimarães, where they had some luck, resulting from the waste of the opponent, the team from Portimão was effective in finishing and took the 3 points. But I don't believe that luck would smile on them again here, because we'll see a Portimonense fighting for the last places in the table, as happened last season when they managed to avoid relegation in the last round of the championship. They have some defensive weaknesses and I believe they will concede goals here, because playing at home they expose themselves more to risk and opponents tend to take advantage.
    Gil Vicente:
Here is a team that can be one of the good surprises of this championship, in my opinion, if the results show up at the beginning, they have everything to walk calmly in the table. In this pre-season phase, they played away and didn't lose any game. They also won in Tondela for the league cup and only tied with Celta de Vigo 0-0. Coming from a morale-boosting 3-0 victory in the 1st round against Boavista, this Gil Vicente likes to take over the game and looks for quick transitions, as stated by his coach who likes to play as a big team.
    Conclusion:
I believe that in this match Gil will be able to exploit his fast counterattack in certain situations. Portimonense will fight to take over the game, but Gil Vicente is better at this stage of the season playing better football and able to exploit some defensive gaps that sometimes the Portimonense leaves for their home games. The positive handicap for outsiders still has some value in my opinion and I think this odd will decrease as the time of play approaches.
    Pick: Gil Vicente handicap (+0.25) Odd:1.85 Bet365

    Gumarães vs Vizela
    Sunday, 22/08/2021, 20:30 PT

    Guimaraes:
Vitória de Guimarães only added one point at the beginning of the championship. With a defeat and a draw in the first two rounds, it can be said that they have been unlucky, they have even played good football, they have created several opportunities to score, but the lack of calm of their forwards, and the bars are not been helping when the time to score cames. In the first round, at home, the waste was enormous and in the last round, they had a player sent off at the beginning of the second half, which compromised the achievement of something else, in a phase that they were even above the opponent in the game.
    Vizela:
Vizela scored 3 points in the first two rounds of the championship, lost away naturally in the field of national champion Sporting by 2-0, and beat at home one of his rivals in the fight for maintenance in the last round by 2-1 even at the end of the match. This Vizela still hasn't convinced me, in my opinion, it will be a team that will be fighting for the last 5/6 places at the bottom of the league table. It doesn't show great football and despite having made 3 or 4 good signings for me it won't be enough to make a smooth championship.
    Conclusion:
In my opinion, Guimarães will go all out in this game, to add their first victory in this championship. The team, as I said before, plays good football, is an offensive team that likes to have the ball and control the matches and has players capable of making a difference in the attacking front. I believe this team will make a championship backward, and from the moment the ball starts to enter, confidence will be greater and the results will appear. Vizela has had some problems in defense, in 2 games they have conceded 3 goals, soo I don't believe they will stay with an empty net at the end of the match against Guimarães that is desperately looking for their first victory.
    Pick: Guimarães (-0.75) @ Odd: 2.10 Bet365

London Road is a nightmare for Cardiff until 2013. Only defeats for Cardiff there but we cant look only the previews meetings. The Key is the tactic on the grass. Cardiff in the first matches giving better things in the field. But has one of the worst. Continue to play with long balls. Αn obsolete tactic. Second problem, cant keep the possesion of the ball. Peterborough has the antidote. The pressing from the opposition giving big advantage to hosters. In the away game against Blackpool Cardiff had 36% possesion of the ball. But Cardiff has great experience from championship and how to use the situations inside games. At Blackpool lost possesion of the ball but make 17 shots against 8. Eight shots on target and one woodwork. When Cardif pass the middle of the field with the ball down then we have difficult situations for the opponent team. Nice attacking players like Giles and Moore and the ball can  get inside the net easily. Peterborough havent the experience of the category but only the enthousiasm of the newcomer. I believe if Cardiff score the first goal, she take the match. Peterborough making too much errors in games until now and cant make good defense from the wings. This is one more advantage from Cardiff because she can change her attack formations easilly.

Here we can risk smart. We have a nice Ipswich town but with bad start, nice players, with high targets this year. Newcomer Cheltenham in preview home game against wycombe wanderers had the possesion of the game, making much more shots but had many defense errors. Defensιve mistakes that wycombe made goals. Its time for the Horses to turn the coin. I could tell you a lot more about Ipswich but i am a risk bettor and like me to risk in value bets. In my opinion here we have a excellent hidden value bet to risk.

Factors I consider important in deciding Italy v Spain:
    Preparation:
I think final preparation is important and whilst Spain trained on Monday in Madrid, Italy made the far more sensible choice and trained at the Hive in Barnet. So one day before the match Spain trained over 1000 miles from the venue (Wembley) and Italy only 8 miles.
    Team News:
Spinazzola's place in the Italy starting line-up is likely to go to Chelsea left-back Emerson. Spain winger Pablo Sarabia is a major doubt after being forced off with a muscle problem against Switzerland and may be replaced by Dani Olmo. (Source BBC)

    Main Statistics:
Morata and Gerard Moreno, rank first and second for big chances missed at Euro 2020.
Italy had 11 clean sheets consecutively before conceding against both Austria ad Belgium in the knock out stages.

    In my opinion - Conclusion:
I think Italy will keep a clean sheet. Spain for me play too slow and pass for passing sake. Italy will have plenty of time to get into position and defend.
Spain will get hit on the counter-attack numerous times leading to yellow cards for Spain's midfield as they try to thwart it. Even without Spinazzola I see Italy as being too strong with the referee playing a key role.
    Italy to win 2-0

    Reading v Derby
I have analysed the last 5 years data. Derby haven't lost at Reading in that time. The bookings market is interesting as there have always been at least 4 cards ( 2 out of 5 seasons had a red card as well). There have been over 10 corners the last 4 seasons.

I thought I would post the opening fixtures and results from the Championship for the last 2 seasons. The odds are William Hills. My observations are that only one team was priced as odds-on over the two seasons; Bristol City last year and duly obliged.  The season coming is showing (from opening poster OP) two teams that are odds on. Brentford v Rotherham and West Brom v Bolton.  I couldn't really argue with either.
For me a slight anomaly might be the fact that over the 24 games from the prior two seasons there were only 3 aways.
I think that this time of year due to lack of form the emphasis should be on seeing how the respective teams have played against each other in the past.

    Oxford vs Shrewsbury

Early top of the table clash between Oxford, sitting in 5th after 2 wins and a defeat, and Shrewsbury, who currently sit 3rd in the league with a 100% record.

I had Shrewsbury down for relegation at the start of this season so am somewhat surprised to see them start the season so well. On closer inspection though, their 3 wins came in games where I’m not actually surprised to see them win – even relegated teams will win games. All 3 opponents so far sit in the relegation places and whilst it’s still early, and Shrewsbury’s wins are actually a reason for these teams being down there, I don’t think the opposition has been that testing. Their opening day win against Northampton actually only came in the 90th minute and all victories have been by 1 goal.

Saturday will definitely be Shrewsbury’s toughest game so far. Oxford were expected to do well at the beginning of the season and have started off well. They would have been expected to beat Oldham (24th) in the opening game but followed it up with an impressive 3-0 defeat of Portsmouth. In their last outing, they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Scnuthorpe and there is certainly no shame in that given Scnuthorpe’s home record last season. By all accounts, Oxford put up a good fight and should have nicked a draw right at the death.

I see a big difference in the quality of both squads and with home advantage I strongly fancy Oxford to take this one.

Oxford’s price has pushed up past evens and I think that’s a very good price for a team I expect to be challenging for promotion come the end of the season.

Trying to stay away from backing results, preferring to go for goals & corners.
i know history doesn't always repeat itself, but I am going on the ratings above, form, and my trusty gut feeling! I also want to only bet at odds against, as backing odds on always seems to empty my account after a while.
    BRISTOL CITY V MILLWALL
Millwall P2 W0. Their 2 games featured 9 goals, & BTTS happened in both games. They threw away the lead against Ipswich in the last 10 minutes on Tuesday.  Shots & corner stats also suggest that Neil Harris is giving it a good go this season, playing attacking football.
They are away from home this week, so may relax a bit more as their is less pressure.
Bristol City have had 11 goals in their 3 games this season. BTTS & O2.5 has happened in all 3 matches. They have won 1/3, so should be pressing for the home win.
High ratings for both teams suggest they are both playing attacking football.
    PICK- BTTS & O2.5 - 2.1
    QPR V HULL
The corner count from QPR’s first home match was 10-1 in their favour. They always give it a good a good go at home, and by all accounts gave it a good go against Norwich. They usually cover the corner handicap at home.
Hull are still getting going under their new manager and I am not convinced they will do much this season.
    PICK- QPR -1 AH CORNERS - 2.15
    COVENTRY V NEWPORT
Coventry won 3/3, including a Cup win over Blackburn & sit top of L2.
They have scored in all 3 matches, F5-A0.
Newport have scored in 3/3, the 2 league matches featured 8 goals. They have yet to lose this season, in their last match away to Crewe, they won the shot count by 12 & the corner count by 9.
Ratings of 44-71.50 suggest both like to attack & the advantage is with the away team
    PICK - BTTS & O2.5 - 2.3
    LUTON V COLCHESTER
Lutons last home game featured 10 goals. They have not won or played at home since then. They were unlucky against Barnet, losing in the last minute. Nathan Jones will be looking for a response in front of the home fans.
Colchester have not won this season. In 2/2 league games, all the goals have come in the second half. They have scored in all 3 matches this season, featuring 9 goals, including Villa in the Cup.
I fancy LUTON to win, but won't get involved at 1.7. They should win, so LUTON to win & BTTS could be worth a punt, but I want to stay away from results.
But there are a couple of bets that interest me. One being that LUTON never seem to have many corners in a match,  they lost the corner count 4-6 in a game in which they scored 8.
    PICKS
    BTTS & O2.5  - 2.25
    COLCHESTER MOST CORNERS - 3.2
    MOST GOALS IN 2ND HALF - 2.05
I am mindful of having too many bets, so may slim this down. But these are my initial thoughts, and I actually had time to read, research, write some notes & type it all up as it's been bloody quiet at work!
Interested to see if anyone agrees or not with above.
    Good luck all!

If you stick with Middlesbrough and Cardiff  (at home) throughout the season, you will come out ahead. Middlesbrough is defensively the best team in the Championship by miles. And it is no fluke, they got better year on year for the last 3 or 4 years. You go consistently with Middlesbrough WIN TO NIL or NO TO BTTS against the bottom 17 teams at home, you will win  over the season.
Teams like Burton and Bolton are going to get hammered, especially away from home.
Stay away from the average stuff, in the middle of the table (rank 8 to 17), especially away from home. These are the really inconsistent teams and are a betting minefield. Betting on these teams will empty your pocket !

We were hanging on a little bit in the first 10 - 15 minutes but once we found our feet we dominated the match. I felt we weren't clinical enough to finish them off in the second half and allowed them a second goal to make it a nervy last 10 minutes but we saw it out with ease. It's been a superb start to the season so far. There's a real feeling of something a bit special happening at Easter Road at the moment.

Like the looks of both Man Utd and Tottenham today.
Chelsea slipping up already gives both teams an extra boost if they can start with a win. Jose made some good summer catches and I think they'll outclass West Ham today, who although they have made some new signings too, they're missing a few key players, which is never good playing United at home.
Tottenham got thrashed by Newcastle at the end of the season but I'm not bothered about that too much. New season and Tottenham were pretty brilliant for most of last season and will get revenge today.

    Hibs are overpriced tomorrow.
Rangers have started the season well but you'd think they were Real Madrid the way the media up here is going on. I watched their game v Motherwell last week and they look very decent going forward but look weak at the back, Motherwell were a little unfortunate not to get something from the game, they missed a couple of decent chances and also had a stonewall penalty turned down (as usual when you play the rangers).
Hibs are a far far better team than Motherwell, strong all over the park and if we can weather the early onslaught and start imposing ourselves on the game, we can score a couple of goals here. I would be very disappointed with a defeat, in fact I would be disappointed with a draw.
I'll be having a little tickle on Hibs -1 at 11.00. Because why not?
Hibs win at 5.00 is the very definition of a value bet.
My bet of the day is Hibs +1 at 2.05. Has Christmas come early? We're not losing this.

[h=1]League One Opta Facts - August 29-31[/h] Blackpool v Walsall Blackpool have won four of their last five home league games against Walsall, though this will be their first meeting since April 2006 (L1). The Saddlers have failed to score in three of their last four visits to Blackpool. Blackpool are without a win in 22 league games (D7 L15). Walsall have lost one of their last 12 games (W6 D5), an 8-2 drubbing at the hands of Bristol City. Walsall are on a run of three consecutive victories, not winning four in a row since January 2013. Bradford City v Port Vale The Bantams have won just one of their last 13 league games against Vale (D5 L7). Port Vale's Michael O'Connor scored a 94th minute penalty to make it 2-2 in the last league meeting between the two. Jordan Pickford, now at Preston, was sent off for the foul. Colchester v Scunthorpe The U's have won just one of their last 18 league fixtures against Scunthorpe (D10 L7), last beating them in February 2006. Scunthorpe have scored in each of their last seven against Colchester, but have also only kept two clean sheets in the process. Colchester are unbeaten in seven home league games (W3 D4), their best run since August 2012. Scunthorpe have failed to score in their previous two games; they haven't failed to score in three in a row since April 2012. Doncaster v Fleetwood The 0-0 draw between the two last season at the Keepmoat Stadium was the first time Doncaster had hosted Fleetwood. The Cod Army won the reverse fixture 3-1, with goals from Stephen Dobbie, Liam McAlinden and David Ball. Only the latter is still at the club. Doncaster have gone three league games without a goal; they haven't gone four without scoring since February 2011. A win against Donny will give Fleetwood a third consecutive win, their best run since winning three in August 2014. Fleetwood have scored four goals in each of their last two games. Millwall v Chesterfield Millwall have lost just once in their last 12 home matches against Chesterfield (W7 D4) and are unbeaten in their last seven. Chesterfield have only failed to score once in their last eight visits to Millwall. The Lions have conceded seven home goals this season, the worst record in the division. Chesterfield have lost just two of their last 13 games (W7 D4). Peterborough v Gillingham Peterborough have alternated between victory and defeat in their last four home games against the Gills - if that were to continue here, they would win. Gillingham won both meetings with the Posh last season by a 2-1 scoreline. Posh have conceded eight goals in their last four home games (W2 D1 L1). Gillingham are without an away clean sheet in seven games, conceding 13 goals in that time. Peterborough have lost their last two games, but haven't lost three in a row since November 2014. Rochdale v Barnsley Rochdale failed to score in either match against Barnsley last season. All five of Barnsley's goals against Rochdale in May's final day 5-0 win came in the 67th minute or after. Rochdale have played 14 home games without a single draw (W9 L5). Barnsley haven't kept a clean sheet in six away league games, conceding 12 goals. Dale have scored in 13 consecutive home games. Shrewsbury v Burton Shrewsbury have lost just one of the eight previous meetings with Burton in the Football League, though this was their most recent meeting in January 2015 (W4 D3). The Brewers have never scored more than once in their eight contests with Shrewsbury, scoring four times in total. Shrewsbury have failed to score more than once in any of their last eight games (W2 D2 L4). Burton have won six of their previous eight away games (D1 L1). Shrewsbury's three home league defeats in a row is their worst run since losing six in January 2014. Swindon v Sheffield United Swindon scored five goals in both of their home games against Sheffield United last season (5-2 in regular league game, 5-5 in League One playoff leg). Michael Smith scored four times in those two matches. The Blades are winless in eight trips to Swindon in regular league matches (including playoffs, D5 L3). Swindon have the best shot conversion rate in League One this season, scoring with 29.03% of their shots. Sheffield United have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 away league games. Including play-offs, the last five games at the County Ground have seen 29 goals scored. Wigan v Crewe Wigan have won five of their last six league games against Crewe, though the two haven't met since February 2005. Crewe's only win in Wigan in the league came in March 2004, courtesy of a Dean Ashton hat-trick (D2 L7). No player has attempted more shots (11) without scoring in League One than Wigan's Michael Jacobs this season. The Railwaymen's last away clean sheet was in January; in 12 games since, they've conceded 27 goals (W3 D1 L8). The Latics, who won at home last time out, haven't won back-to-back home league games since August 2014. Coventry v Southend Coventry haven't kept a clean sheet in nine league games against Southend. Southend have scored 13 goals in the last four trips to Coventry, though three of those came in the 1960s (games ended 3-3, 4-3 and 5-2). The Sky Blues have only failed to score in one of their last 12 home league games (W4 D4 L4). Since losing 4-2 to Stevenage in February 2015, The Shrimpers have conceded just seven goals in nine away games (W4 D3 L2). Coventry are aiming to win three home league games in a row for the first time since November 2013.
