Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - STEWART/TIPSTER bag festival winners 5.15 PIGEON ISLAND 50 E/W/ CALATAGAN E/W BF The two btm weights here the former has a touch of the seconds but could go well at a big price with stable Jock on top while the later goes well here and has been 3rd at 50's in this in 08 worth a few pence at over 100 on BF. Probably a deduction needed of that as a few NR's Fin:ok

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - STEWART/TIPSTER bag festival winners

Race 7

Johnny Henderson chase

Pigeon Island 0.5 E/W

51.00 Lads BOG

French Opera deserves the top weight. Big plus is David Bass’s ride and his 7 lbs claim. Free world run great race last time, I prefer him against French opera, because of the good ground. Tataniano another who is making great season so far. Here the favorites are really a shot. But I will try to find something more valuable. Russian Flag placed in Top 3 in his last 6 races. Always an improving horse, who will be with career low weights in this race. Alex Meriam is capable Russian Flag placed in Top 3 in his last 6 races. Always an improving horse, who will be with career low weights in this race. Alex Meriam is a capable young jockey, who knows very well the animal. The other real big surprise here is PigeonIsland. Always has problems with jumping. If NTD schools him to do better with 10-1 the horse is not only a place contender, but to win also. That’s why I am going for PigeonIsland
Also get the Pigeon Island on my Cheltenham thread, but had r4 0.30 p, so the correct prise for my bet is 35/1

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Cheltenham winners aplenty Ok i will change my pick as i understand what stewartd14 is saying so if poss Fintron i will go for Ellandshe 2.40 ayr. The hot fav has already been on the floor and at odds of 1/5 around Ayr is crazy, Ellandshe has already run a good 2nd at sedge and just might give the fav a wee fright, its not out the frame by any means in a race of this standard. Once again sorry about the piss about.

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Cheltenham winners aplenty

2-10 Ayr DEER FIN trades at not 100/1 but 150/1, thought i'd show off abit lol. I dont have any reason in this winning its just a shot in the dark, i did have another at Ayr today but its only trading now at 66/1 so what use is that. If DEER FIN wins i will buy a drink for all the PL members, ''just not one each lol'' I think it took me longer to find this thread than DEER FIN will last round Ayr, but its not about the winning its about taken part. 2-10 at AYR ''DEER FIN'' Rent money down lol.
I think the aim of this thread was to find someone that could genuinely pick a 100/1 without the use of a pin mate :tongue2

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Cheltenham winners aplenty From the Irish National thread Fin:ok Starburst Newbie Punter Join Date: 13 Mar 2010 Age: 41 Posts: 8 Irish Grand National Some trends which may help. 1. Only 1 horse older than 9 in last 10 runnings. 2. Only 1 of the last 10 winners carried more than 10-12(Commanche Court in 2000 carried 11-04 and was rated 134). 3. 8 0f last 10 winners carried 10-08 or below. 4 All of the last 10 winners had an official rating between 121 and 136. 5. Only 1 of the last 10 winners had not won over three miles 6. Of the last 12 winners none had run more than 8 times in handicap chases prior to this . 7. The last 8 winners had no more than 2 runs since the turn of the year 8. 10 of the last 12 winners had made the frame in at least one of the last two starts 9. 6 of the last 7 Irish winners had previous Fairyhouse form. Some other notes. Leading Irish trainer Wille Mullins has never won the race. Also his last 10 runners since 2001 have ALL been unplaced. Michael Hourigan has had 10 runners whithout winning. Of the 10 5 have placed at odds of 16/1 or bigger. In the last 10 years no winner has returned shorter than 9/1. There has been no winning favourite since 1999 and then it was co-fav of 5. Might just have a small amount of each of the above

The Edit was to insert EW on the third selection Fin, prices were not altered.

The Edit was to insert EW on the third selection Fin' date=' prices were not altered.[/quote'] Cheers BH. I think I should maybe relax the rule about posting up screenshots for Betfair prices? I suppose the competition is only a bit of fun at the end of the day, and I think we have a pretty trustworthy bunch on here don't we - I don't think people would deliberately deceive for the sake of a £20 bet. If everyone else is happy, I reckon Betfair prices should just be accepted at face value (as long as posted pre-race), unless it is a selection that potentially wins the overall prize? What do you guys think?

Screen shots for prices taken at 100 or over may be the way to go Fin. Sorry Merl1n :$ Great Stuff indeed from the newbies :clap:clap:clap The table has just over 20 tips at 25's or over and thats in just a tad over 3 months....so at the end of this year we should be around 60-80 :loon how kool would that be.

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Irish National Nailed (twice) I know its not that serious and nothing to do with me but are selections that are 1 of 4 or 5 in a trends type post included. Theres no individual reason why the horse should be a selection, they are just narrowed down to 20% of the field surely? Some National posts are going to have 5 or 6 against the field with one reason covering them all.

What do you think is the best way of avoiding any problems here? To only accept posts that provide a line or two of reasoning to accompany each horse narrowed down into a final shortlist from the initiall culling by trends?

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Irish National Nailed (twice) Hi Fin, for me trends are the same as systems, a certain amount of criteria ends up pointing towards a selection, the difference is with trends you end up with multiple selections. The other difference is they get posted in the main ATR section. Fair enough if from that shortlist the poster selects a couple against the field with reasons why they should be backed and not the others, just thought i'd bring this up before someone lists 6 horses for a race without any specific reasoning other than they are 8yo and carrying 11st etc,,,,,and one pops in at 100/1. Very nice and not to be sniffed at but i'm sure the aim of this comp was not on those lines? Maybe i'm just being fussy, see what the others think, its not like its to my benefit that i asked this, I have about as much chance of posting a 100/1 winner than the Lib/Dems winning the election:lol

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Irish National Nailed (twice) on the selections & trends issue, it should be a simple message, that each selection should be identified as a bet and stake / price etc I was going to query one of the posters who tipped Bluesea cracker as it just said "these are the 2 i will probably back" rather than actually stating stake or price. Compare with my trends thread where i narrowed down the field to 5, but only tipped 1. therefore, the winner is null & void IMO otherwise, anyone can come on here and post 3 or 4 in 1 race and nab a big price winner. As usual, honesty plays a part and perhaps the one who hits the 100/1 winner will have to send a screenshot to prove a bet. As you know i hit a 100/1 winner in my system but didnt back it or indeed post it until after the event! The above are quite simple rules to follow hopefully, cheers!

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Irish National Nailed (twice) Yes, good points guys, cheers. I'll only accept the selections that have some sort of reasoning to accompany them from now on. If we have any more trends people knocking down the field to a final shortlist, unless some distinction is made between the main 'bets' and those that just fit the critera (as Bowles mentioned) then we'll have to think twice about including them. As you mention BH, the aim was to get proper reasoning for all selections, in the ethos of the site, as simply naming names is no different to the other (inferior) forums.

Re: The Punters Lounge 100/1 Challenge - Irish National Nailed (twice) 2:35 Aintree Sanctuaire has the best chance but this is different ground to Cheltenham. Still make him marginal value. Saver at 2/1. As often the case, punters tend to leave well alone a horse who "should not win on the book", Notus De La Tour has been under estimated in the betting because he has something to find on Sanctuaire on Fred Winter form. Though does get a handy weight difference. He was up there from the start that day and may be a little better than distances indicate. Is improving himself and at 17/2 is worth a good (main) bet. Orspippus is another at bigger odds than he should be because he finished behind Sanctuaire. Improved a lot there and if (big IF) could surprise at big odds 69/1. I make him a 3.25% 28/1 shot. Ma Voici has been impressive in his wins so far, all on a soft surface. Beautiful looking horse who should be able to improve. 15/2 is too big. Super Kenny could be anything but has been priced up as he is something. Very little experience. Nafaath is another who could be anything, impressive on firmer ground than this last time. Backed Olofi at Chelters, nice type, did not settle there, but not enough promise for this anyway. Drussell has won two races easily at a lesser level, but needs to improve a lot. Barizan got a long lead and possibly flattered in the Triumph. Trainer was in great form then, not so good now and had a hard race (could bounce). My 100% book: Sanctuaire 15/8, Notus De La Tour 6/1, Ma Voici 13/2, Super Kenny 13/2, Barizan 15/2, Nafaath 14/1, Orsippus 28/1, Olofi 40/1, Drussell 100/1, Double Handful 400/1, Al Qeddaaf 400/1 .
