What happens if by chance in a 2 y o race 5 trainers think they have a great chance of winning with a horse first time out? Somebody with inside information is going to lose. Haitch - some good points made in your post which some will no doubt agree with & others will not Myself & a few other mods have spoken at length over this thread & we decided to see how it goes. Over 40000 views tells the story. Its a popular thread & unfortunately, there are so called punters out there who would rather just come in here to check for so called inside info & not bother with the daily threads which the likes of Russ, Rio, Carl, Mowgli & plenty of others put loads of time into. It really gets my goat that this thread is viewed 10 & in some case 20 times more than the specialist threads which actually produce a higher yield!! I only postinside info in here & have been relatively successful with a few winners, 2 from 3 at Ascot this week cant be bad! Dont really want a discussion topic on this thread as it detracts from the title! Its not a glory hunters thread or a system so it has to stay here or be removed in full. I am involved in the gambling game and get tips all the time - what defines a good tip generally depends on the guys who give it to me. Some are crap and some are red hot. One guy I know gives me at least five tips a week, he doesnt know it but I usually ignore them all, he usually gets about one in eight right. Another I know gets about half right and another I know has about an 80% hit rate. At the end of the day we have the information that this site generates ( which I think is excellent and for those that contribute - Hats off - great job ) and then we have what people claim to have inside info. Join the two and then it is down to ourselves to decide if it is worth while listening to these insiders. We've all given out tips that have lost and there is nothing worse than getting your nose rubbed in it as most people only do it to gain the creditability. I wouldn't knock anyone for giving me a bad tip I would probably just avoid their selections. In the case of Bowles I beieve that he has creditable information as proven and yes I would take his selections seriously. How serious would really depend on the sites analysis if any and my own opinion and of course their track record. Haitch your points are without doubt valid and I agree the site could easily lose its direction but I feel once properly established this thread may well attract three or four new punters to the site who simply are in the circle of knowledge, from which we may well benefit and as for the rest we may just choose to ignore. The thread probably just needs to be groomed a little better and guys like Haitch, Russ Rio etc are the best men to do this as Racing is their thing Anyway, Hope it all works out Ps Thanks Bowles for your winner today, and yesterday made tidy profit. The average mug punter will always like "inside info" bets rather then bets derived bt form study,markey anaylsis, time figures etc. Most punters are just lazy and looking for easy solutions. To actually spend a few hours studying form is just too much trouble. That is why many tipster who advertise mention they have i"nside info". But in actual fact they use form, time etc to select their bets. They know Joe public and his belief in "inside info" That is why this thread is viewed so much. I agree that inside info is generally rubbish, real inside info are 12/1 shots that romp home, not 9/4 shots. That's just my opinion. I disagree this thread is detracting from ATR as a whole, as there were around 30 other threads in ATR with posts in them yesterday. I don't see the problem..It's like a film you know you won't like,don't look at it....We all realise that the skill is in the reading of form and ground etc....I dont think any one underestimates how fantastic that art is... But not every one has that skill,and not every one wants to bet on this..So why not let people have their bit of fun... What i will say is there is a lot of sniping going on....I think if someone shares there inside info then they should be thanked no matter where the horse comes.. Its turning into a school playground ! The tips i put in here were from the owners/jockey ,so use it how you feel you wish. Ive been told to back Moonstreaker twice in the past. It has won once and was unplaced on the other occasion. I have a friend who is an independent bookie and he gets a fair bit of trade from owners who do not have BF accounts and would faint at the sight of a keyboard. But, they do get 'info' from different stables. I have only posted one tip on here, and it was beaten at a short price. Not an auspicious start by any means. I hate to 'aftertime' but I got one yesterday, about 2 minutes before the 'Off', that won at 10-3. By the time I got on my small bet with BF the race was off before I could get on here. I have backed others tips on here, and although I have been what I termed as selective, I have still backed a few losers. But, I am in front, and that's all that matters. I don't do it for a living so it all comes in handy. As the season progresses I will continue to update the tables, and by August we may be able to determine who to follow, and who to dodge like the plague. Having said that, a level bet on every horse is still showing a profit, you can't do worse than that unless you are struck blind and dodge the top tipsters. Can i just point out that the reason this gets more reads than the daily threads is that (in my experience) during the day if someone posts, everyone floods in to check out whether its some inside info or not, so people might be checking this thread 5 times a day. Surely it doesnt matter that this thread is being viewed more than daily threads, or are certain peoples egos being dented... The bottom line is that there is useful information in all forms on ATR, whether it be inside info or the form based selections which some people put hours into. I dont see the problem with having this forum in ATR, surely it is less suited to glory hunters forum (as it is nothing like any of the threads in there). Ive definately made a fairly large profit from backing things in this thread, not sure how much, but i think you just have to be wary of certain kinds of inside info...
