The latest odds and ratings for the French Ligue 1 and 2 matches coming up over the next week are here. Check out the information above and tell us what bets you've got lined up. It's a bumper week so let's try and nail some bumper profit! :ok

St Etienne vs Marseille

The first preview of this catch-up extended week of Ligue 1 and 2 action from France covers a fascinating clash between St Etienne and Marseille in an 8pm GMT kick-off on Wednesday night from the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. These two sides have contrasting ambitions this season with the home side looking to steer clear of relegation whilst the visitors have Champions League qualification aspirations.

St Etienne are settling into life under Claude Puel after the former Southampton and Leicester manager took over from Ghislain Printant earlier this season. Despite a positive start, things have gone slightly sour for the club with 5 losses from their last 6 league matches. This has seen the club drop to 15th in the table. It may still be 9 points that separate them from the relegation zone but unless this disastrous form is rectified it might not be too long until the club is dragged into the relegation quagmire. The 2-1 win against Nimes in their last home game was a welcome result after two previous home defeats without scoring. This is a different proposition entirely though.

Marseille will be pleased with their progress so far this season. Andre Villas-Boas continues to thrive at the club having guided them to 2nd in the table. OK, so they may be 15 points behind league leaders PSG but in overall terms this is an encouraging period for the 2010 league champions. It's now 14 matches undefeated in all competitions for Marseille. Granted, they have only won 2 of their last 5 league matches but they're a side that have discovered how to make themselves tough to beat. Just 1 goal conceded in their last 5 away league games is an impressive defensive spell.

It is that defensive solidarity that has me thinking Marseille will take at least a draw from this game. I'm even tempted to back them to take all 3 points. That is mainly due to the state that St Etienne find themselves in right now. It's a complete clash of form and I think Marseille will actually be disappointed if they don't win this game. A workmanlike win for Marseille seems decent value here.

Nice vs Nimes

Well, that midweek result couldn't have gone any better with our boys Marseille doing us a solid. The second preview from this catch-up week is between Nice and Nimes in a 7pm GMT kick-off this Saturday night at the Allianz Riviera. The home side are the firm favourites with the bookies and the ELO ratings are also backing but is there something to suggest the away side could take something from this game?

Nice sit in 8th place but as the season goes on the club's hopes of qualifying for European competition appears to be getting more and more remote. 7 points now separate Patrick Vieira's men from 4th placed Lille. It's now 7 league games unbeaten but 4 of those matches have ended in a draw. The club do boast the 4th best home record in Ligue 1 so they'll come into this game confident they can get a win having not tasted defeat on home soil since 18th October and even that was against PSG.

Nimes find themselves in a relegation battle. Bernard Blaquart's team are down in 18th place and 3 points adrift of safety. Back-to-back wins has helped to re-ignite some hope into their survival fight but until recently a lack of fire power in front of goal has been their undoing. A big concern is also the club's away form. Nimes haven't won any of their 11 away league matches and no other side has picked up less points on the road in the top flight of French football.

This match is cut and dry as far as I'm concerned. Yes, Nimes have been far more impressive in their last two league matches but they've caught two teams on the hop on home territory. It's a completely different proposition going to a side that are effective at home and in decent form themselves. It'll be an interesting game but I think Nice will have enough to get the win.

It will be a tough fight, with the two clubs giving it all up for victory. There is no value in the ace being too small on the betting pages. I will bet on the open and offensive game, expect goals in both of them
