Re: Nap Of The Day > Sunday February 15th Navan 4.25: Fainne An Lae @ 20/1 paddypower e/w thanks Fainne An Lae......from V T O'Brien yard with the ownership being Sean O'Brien so the family will be looking for a big run when the 6yo steps up to its first full handicap against the older horses getting its first rating mark of 93. Fainne An Lae has had the six runs one NHF and 5 maiden hurdle race with the closest being a 4th place two races back at Navan 2m soft when beaten 17 lengths by Rogue Trader in January , The yard did not waste anytime in sending it back out 7 days later in its last maiden hurdle race 15 days ago, It travelled to Fairyhouse 2m soft to heavy condition was well beaten at 66-1 behind Velvet Maker when seventh of 20 runners with Patrick Corbett in saddle , with yard now got its Handicap mark for today they change jockey to Shane Crimin who receives 4lbs off its back . To me it looks as the yard had this race pencilled in the way in January they rattled in two races in 7 days to get the handicap mark and with them bring it back to Navan where it had its best run to date

Re: Nap Of The Day > Sunday February 15th Ffos Las 3.30 Jean Flemming (11/2 bet365 bog) For an 8 year old, this horse hasn’t got much mileage on the clock having only had 6 races under rules to date, but she has never been out of the first 3 in all those races. In fact if you include her point to point race which she won, she has never been out of the frame in her career. She is the only one here that qualifies for an ATR speed rating on last time out effort, which still only makes her third rated in the race based on their best speed ratings; but that run was in a higher class than today’s race and run over 2 furlongs further. She stayed on to regain 3rd spot at the last having lost it 3 out, not a bad run considering that was her first run since november 2013

Re: Nap Of The Day > Sunday February 15th MR 1.35 - Steps and Stairs EW at 50/1 bog wm hill Novice hurdle over 21F My selection is a bit of a longshot but there's hope that he might outrun his big odds Comes from Jonjo's yard and had a couple of runs in novice hurdles when the yard were struggling at the turn of the year. Last time out at Newbury he was noted staying on nicely after losing his pitch mid race. Step up in trip today should suit and the yard is in much better form now My big priced EW shot yesterday finished 4th (you might say......'obviously' !)......but hopefully this chap will run into the first 3

Re: Nap Of The Day > Sunday February 15th 2.15 Navan: Boyne Hurdle (Grade 2) The Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle at Navan shapes as an intriguing little contest. It may be hard to look beyond the first three in the betting, but that doesn't make it less interesting, as three big guns, all multiple Graded winners, taking each other on. Effectively it's a re-match of last months John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle, which took place at Gowran Park in thick fog on bottomless ground over gruelling three miles. It was Gigginstown's Dedigout who prevailed that day. In a dramatic finish, he got right up on the line. The Willie Mullins trained Zaidpour and Briar Hill were decisively beaten in third and fourth. Judging by that performance, and the short price in the betting market today, Dedigout is clearly is expected to follow on to land another big prize today. It is his third run after a year long absence and it is obvious that he haven't lost any of his old ability. He's been a prolific chaser back in the day, but has really excelled over hurdles. Question mark is, however, if he can bring his impressive form also to Navan today? Because were race in with significantly different conditions today, than it was the case three weeks ago at Gowran Park. it's a sharp drop in trip from 3m down to 2.5m and instead of heavy ground it is actually quite decent today - considering what one would normally expect in Ireland at this time of the year. That says Dedigout has form over this trip and conditions, so he may well be happy enough with what he's likely to find today. But if you want to find some question mark in this short price favouite - well, then this would it be! Nine year old Zaidpour remains a very good horse. Back in November he won here at Navan a Grade 2 over 2m 4f. Not a particularly good one, but you can only beat what is in front of you. He was without a chance against Dedigout last month, though. Beaten five lengths, and dropped right out when it mattered. Expect him to be more competitive today. The drop in trip will suit and he he's fine on this ground. Nonetheless, I feel that Zaidpour has always been a better horse with plenty of juice in the ground. Could that make the difference in the end? In all honesty, I'm more sweet on the other Willie Mullins runner, Briar Hill. He is still only a seven year old and could easily have still some more improvement left. Yes, he has been disappointing in his two starts this season over 3 miles, but make no mistake, there was a reason why he was the favourite for the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season. I believe the drop in trip will work wonders for him today. Those last poor showings exploited his stamina limitations and his best forms came all over shorter trips. Briar Hill was Grade 1 winning Novice hurdler last season here at Navan over 2 miles and 4f. I'm pretty confident with ground and trip to suit today, we'll see a much improved Briar Hill. Obviously he still has a good deal to find on pure form with favourite Dedigout and it is not a given that he is actually able to find back to his best. But there is a fair chance and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt today. There are a couple more runners in this field, but realistically they shouldn't be good enough to put any pressure on the three big guns. Back In Focus used to be a smart individual, but he has been off for a very long time, so he is probably best watched today. Briar Hill @ 11/4 VC

Re: Nap Of The Day > Sunday February 15th Markt Rasen 4:15 - Trafficker WIN @ 12/1 Stan James Proved to be a very decent hurdler last season, winning nicely at Wetherby before getting done by Madame Lillibet at Hexham, trading at a low of 1.01. Was pulled up on chase debut when last seen, but was weak in the market so was clearly out for a spin. If they are trying today he could look a big price.

Re: Nap Of The Day > Sunday February 15th 205 MR: Grimley Girl 9/4 SJ Henry Oliver's horses are in good nick and his only runner today is Grimley Girl who has an excellent chance in the mares handicap. I reckon she will get the run of the race here as she appears to be the only front runner and this track does suit that type being quite sharp. Won at Fakenham when leading she was prominent last time but couldn't take control and this looks easier. Intent is hard to weigh up and goes handicapping for the first time off 105? That appears reasonable but did win a very poor race when we saw her last back in September.

Re: Nap Of The Day > Sunday February 15th 14:55 Pau: SAMSECRET @ 8/1 Bet365 Unbeaten in two starts over fences at Pau, SAMSECRET (4) just disappointed over hurdles at the same Pont-Long's track last month, but he should appreciate the return to larger obstacles, given Patrick Chevillard's trained-gelding achieved his best victories in chasing events.
