RussP
Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) It is more unlucky than that, 4 horses were to be placed but looks like 2 were withdrawn at the start? Just curious, I followed you on this bet and placed it on bwin (I know they suck)... it says this on the slip: Race 1 - 5f Handicap (Who will finish in the top 4?)Multahab I take it they will just change it to the top 3 due to the withdrawn horses at the start? Seems a bit unfair when it specifically says top 4... Don't know, mate. Betfair will pay out on the original number of declared runners but most of the others wouldn't. Re the horse, it does drift right but it has worked many times before at Brighton. Backed right in to 5/1.:wall

RussP
Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) 3 losers on the trot, but hope this will stop in an hour at Nottingham: 3.40 Nottingham Only 10 lining up for Cl 5 handicap over 10f. Lots of 3yo's tackling older horses, some very unexposed and short priced, so I'm passing over those in favour of: Golden Applause (25/1 BetDirect) - Small stable had winner and a place from last 2 runs. You need some imagination to back this horse but is off a decent mark here. Has had 2 runs over 10f in this grade, both off 1lb higher than today, and has finished 1st winning at 13/2 and 3rd at 16/1. Looks better on faster ground so todays conditions ideal. In 10 races this season and last, all form is at this longer trip. Not sighted in 4 tries over a mile, placed over 9f at Epsom in this grade but unpl other start over 9f but that was on the AW. In 4 starts at 10f, win & place as mentioned earlier. Unpl on other 2 tries but in higher grade, and off much higher mark. All that said, I see no reason why this horse won't be there at the business end.

RussP
Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Not giving up on today just yet, and have another 2 E/W bets for later this evening. 9.10 Hamilton 6f handicap, Class 3 with 13 facing the starter. Very open event with nothing standing out amongst the favs so take a chance on a double figure price: Machinist (10/1 Sporting Odds) - Dandy Nicholls has 3 in this event, so is clearly hoping he can with this. The best of the 3 for me is Machinist, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. Recent form figures don't inspire but this is a very capable horse and tonight returns to optimum conditions. Needs 6f and good ground or better which it will get tonight. Has been campaigned exclusively in Class 2 company for the last 12 months and has been racing off a mark in the 90's. However, tonight drops to Class 3 and has a mark of 88. In the last year, has only twice raced off a mark in the 80's, coincidentally both were off tonights mark and good results to boot....Class 2 race here, finishing 2nd over C&D in race worth 21K (tonights is worth 10K), and Class 2 race at Ascot winning a 5f sprint. RussP
Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Last bet for the day: 8.50 Kempton Class 4 handicap over 7f on the AW, and a race which I have major doubts over all the principles. At a big price, I'm going E/W on: Resplendent Nova (12/1 Sporting Odds) - Top weight here and highest ever mark here, 2lb higher than lto on AW when 2nd. That casts a slight doubt but, at 12's, is well worth the risk. I would have expect it to be half that price. Ignore last 3 runs on turf as this horse is much better on AW, although showed some promise lto at Newmarket. Previous to that was 2nd 4 times on the bounce on the AW in this grade so clearly has E/W claims. Has 2 wins and 7 places from 13 starts on AW too. Richard Quinn takes over in the saddle. RussP
Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Rob, Just had another luck at the 5.05 Bath race, it's a tricky contest but would advise a little E/W at the 7/1 with Sporting Odds on Who's Winning. I am not including this in the thread results but I think it has the best chance on the book. Ran well here last week, and off same mark, in same class and generally going well this term. Is capable of winning here if ground is not too soft.
kevsul
Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Definetly a hard race to pick from. But I will have a little flutter with this, as advised small stakes.:hope
RussP
Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Just the one real bet for today, and even that one takes a little bit of imagination to understand the reasons: 6.25 Lingfield On the turf here, a 6f handicap, Class 6 with 13 runners. Currency, under Jamie Spencer, is the hot favourite at around 7/4 so we must be looking for something E/W to take him on with: Charming Ballet (16/1 Stan James) - Lightly raced 4yo that, strictly speaking, has little chance on the form book. However, has been off for over 12 months before its 4 runs this term. Looked on its way back at Goodwood 2 weeks ago when 4th and dropped a further 4lb and down to Class 6 tonight for this race. Same distance, and similar going too. Has a big chance if reproducing its 2yo form. I just think conditions are right tonight for this animal....trip, going, jockey, class, handicap mark and has a great draw. 10 of 13, on a track where high draw is essential. Big price too.
