StevieDay1983 Posted November 8, 2019 Author Share Posted November 8, 2019 Strasbourg vs Nimes It feels like we are covering one of these two teams most weeks in Ligue 1 so it makes sense that when they come together to play each other that we also do a preview on it. It's Strasbourg versus Nimes in a 7pm GMT kick-off this Saturday evening at the Stade de la Meinau where victory is key for these sides if they want to try and pull away from the relegation zone but defeat could be a hammer blow to their hopes of avoiding being dragged into a survival fight come the end of the season. Strasbourg are in 16th place in the league table coming into this game but it's only goal difference that is keeping their heads above water. Thierry Laurey's men have 3 defeats from their last 4 league games. However, the shining light is that they have won their last three home league matches all by a 1-0 score-line. In fact, with only 1 loss at home all season they boast the 8th best home record in the division. Nimes need to start picking up points and fast. Bernard Blaquart's side are bottom of the table but they are only 1 point adrift of safety and they do possess a game in hand on the teams around them. Recent form is hard to decipher. Yes, it's now 5 league games without a win but the last 3 matches in the league have been a draw. This is also a Nimes side that has only lost 1 of their last 4 away matches. It is also a Nimes side that hasn't won on the road this season. Every game is becoming crucial for these two teams. It's going to be a chaotic end to the season if things carry on going like this. Only 1 point separates the bottom five teams and then half of the division is within danger of being sucked into this quagmire. Both Strasbourg and Nimes have reason to feel they can get something from this game. I think Strasbourg's ability to grind out victories at home will be the difference.
