StevieDay1983 Posted November 2, 2019 Author Share Posted November 2, 2019 Augsburg vs Schalke 04 The German Bundesliga games offer a little bit of value this weekend but it's a tough ask trying to some picks. I'm turning my attention to Augsburg versus Schalke 04 in a 5pm kick-off this Sunday at the WWK Arena. The home side will be looking to get a much-needed win to climb out of the drop zone against a visiting team that are hoping to push on up the table into the European qualification spots. Augsburg are in the unwanted position of 17th place after 9 league games. Martin Schmidt's men have only recorded 1 win in league action this season and it's now 5 league games without a victory. The club may well be on the same number of points as 14th place but there is every chance they could find themselves rock bottom of the German top flight if they don't get something in this game. There is a ray of hope in the fact that Augsburg have only lost 1 of their 4 league games at home this season. Schalke 04 sit in 9th place on 15 points in the table. Only 4 points separate them from top of the table Borussia Monchengladbach so they have every reason to feel they can string a set of results together and turn into title contenders. David Wagner is doing a great job at the club but after a run of 4 wins on the trot it's now 3 league games without a win. Just 1 defeat from their 4 away games this season does offer hope that a win can be snatched here. I've seen a few tipsters backing Augsburg as a double chance bet and after initially favouring a Schalke 04 win I'm going to have to follow the trend and back the double chance. Augsburg haven't been turned over in any of their home games asides from the 3-0 loss against Bayer Leverkusen. The 2-2 draw at home to Bayern Munich a couple of weeks back was a real statement. I can see them stealing at least a point here.
