StevieDay1983
Grenoble vs Lens Due to restricted time, I've decided to write a preview for a Ligue 2 game this weekend. It's two teams that haven't had the best of starts to the season when 16th placed Grenoble take on 13th place Lens in a 7:45pm BST kick-off tonight at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble. The away side have a rich history in French football and will be keen to improve their poor early season form. Grenoble finished in a safe mid-table position last campaign and the hope was to push on from that this season. Unfortunately, Philippe Hinschberger hasn't seen his side meet those preferred expectations. The club has failed to win a single game this season and has only managed to pick up 3 draws and 2 defeats from their 5 league matches played so far. Lens have had a slightly better start but it's still not one they'll be happy with. The 1997/98 Ligue 1 title winners are a world away from those glory days. It was only in 1999/2000 that they reached the UEFA Cup Semi-Finals. Philippe Montanier has overseen his men labour to 2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 defeats. Building on their 5th placed finish from last season is seeming like a tricky task right now. Even though both of these sides are struggling to get some momentum going this season, they've shown glimpses of positive play. Grenoble really need that first win under their belt and this is a great opportunity. Sadly, I think Lens will probably have too much. I was tempted to back the draw but I just think five games without a win is really becoming a mental problem for the hosts. I'm backing Lens to pick up a narrow win.
