Sassuolo vs Bologna

I was tempted to talk about the slightly more interesting encounter between Napoli and Roma this weekend but I figured you guys would do your fair share of discussion on that anyway. I'm focusing my attention on the Sassuolo versus Bologna game that's kicking off at the Mapei Stadium - Citta del Tricolore at 11:30am this Sunday morning.

Sassuolo are not exactly a team enjoying the best of times in Serie A right now. It's three league games without a win, two of those have seen them fire blanks, and the statistics show that the team has failed to score with its last 25 shots on goal. If only they could find that clinical finishing edge in the final third.

Bologna aren't doing any better. Filippo Inzaghi's side have just 1 win in their last 4 Serie A matches and are loitering dangerously above the relegation zone in 17th place with just 8 points from 9 league games. It's a worrying time for a club that had hoped for better after getting rid of former head coach Roberto Donadoni over the summer.

My betting has to go with the home side here. Roberto De Zerbi's team have won 3 of their 4 league games at home. The only exception to that was the recent 4-1 home loss to AC Milan. An exception rather than the rule you could say. Their last three home games have seen a total of 17 goals at an average of 5.7 goals per game.

The further evidence pointing me towards a convincing home win is the fact that Bologna are the only team to fail to score an away goal in the league this season. That's over 510 minutes of play without hitting the back of the net on the road. Will they break that duck here? They might do but I can't see them taking any points with them.
