Scored nicely over CD on penultimate start when getting to the front before battling down in the end, only got a 1lb rise for that and a good second last time out when unable to lead outright. The same remark applies to What A Warrior who is the fav so he may be worth taking on today. Katkeau on the other hand doesnt mind the conditions and could be on the upgrade now he has switched to fences. He won in the mud at Cheltenham last season and ended up running in the Pertemps Final at the Festival. Ran twice in his native France over the summer and then came back here and won on his fencing debut at Fakenham. It was only a small race but beat Southfield Vic easily enough and has only been given 2lbs more than his hurdle mark which is quite lenient i thought. The booking of George Baker is a major positive, he has an excellent record around here and the trainers runners are going better now after a slow season. This horse isn't the most prolific of winners, hence going e/w today but the horse looks sure to be there or thereabouts under these ideal conditions. Nicholls only received the Brookhouse horses in August so he was likely behind when making his first start for the yard but this should put him spot on for this.
