Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May 4.20 - Brighton - Elbereth - 7/1 - BetVic BOG Elbereth looks interesting here making her turf debut. Looks like quite an open race and you can pick holes in the ones at the head of the market. Elbereth is lightly-raced and is certainly unexposed on turf. Was poor last time out but think that run can be forgiven and progress can be resumed here off the same mark.

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May Trainer Mr Clive Cox sends just the one runner for a day by the seaside that being Brighton. His 4yr old bay filly has 12 runs with 2 wins and one of they wins was here at Brighton, this is only her third start in 2015 and she was a wee bit unlucky last time out at Bath, she should be cherry ripe by now and a strike..Win is only a matter of time. Same jockey as before who needs no introduction. Positives - Track, trip, weight, jockey, Draw, Price. Negatives - 0 ?4:20 Brighton - Tears of the Sun. 0.5 E/w Bet @ 11/2 Skybet........''BOG''

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May 1620 brighton boonga regatta @ 7/1 ladbrokes This place is very much horses for courses in my opinion... cant believe this one is 7s, actually thought it would be favourite. Back to form lto and won this race last yr off a 8lb higher mark. has everything in his favour and this is a big e/w bet for me but for comp purposes i will go for the win.

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May 4.20 Brighton: Handicap (Class 3; 1m 2f) This race looks wide open. You could make a case for each and every runner but could easily pick big holes into their form either. The betting is telling pretty much the same story with the favourite Puzzle Time being a 4/1 shot who usually shows her best with a bit of cut in the ground. Brighton is quick, though - however poses a demanding finish to the winning post. Recent All-Weather scorer Lady Marl makes appeal on the visual impression she gave when running out a cosy victory at Lingfield. But that was against poor opposition. Much more is required here and a penalty has to be defied too. The step up in trip to 10f for the first time may bring out some further improvement, though. Tears Of Sun would prefer it further normally, but she acts on quick ground and won at Brighton in the past. A fine runner-up effort at Bath last month gives her a good chance to be thereabouts here, but she doesn't have any margin of error off her current mark. Same applies to Calm Attitude, who looks on a high enough mark. She may not be suited by the fast ground conditions either. Likeable frontrunner Boonga Rogeeta was finally back in the winners enclosure when last seen. She held on gamely to win a 10f Handicap at Chelmsford, taking advantage of a slipping mark. She has to follow-up in this better race off 5lb higher now. Top weight Stosur might be the only one in this field who is rather easily discounted. She would need to improve quite a bit for her try over 1m 2f to be competitive of a very high looking mark. Turf debutant Elbereth may strip fitter for her recent All-Weather outing. She doesn't appear to be too well handicapped, but with emphasize on stamina in the finish, she could be in the mix here. Authorized filly Special Miss has the benefit of a feather weight and that could help her to find back to her best. She was beaten in third in a five runner affair last month, that day a couple of lengths behind Tears Of Sun. However she received a very light ride and the jockey didn't seem to be too bothered with her chance of finishing the race as close as possible. Expect her to be sharper here. The trip is a bit a question mark. She stayed twelve furlongs in the past against poor rivals and has won over 9f, though in three start over 10f she never seemed to get home yet. However on pedigree she has every chance to get the trip, and with fast conditions to help, she may have found an ideal opportunity to win off a lowly 72 mark. Special Miss @ 9/1 >Paddy Power

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May 7.30 Catterick - Conry win @ 4/1 PaddyPower Conry seems to love it here and has won 6 of his 10 runs over C&D with two 2nds and two 4ths. He has been running poorly on the AW during the winter which has seen his mark fall but he came back to form last time out with a close 3rd at Chelmsford. He looks well handicapped here and is 9lbs lower than when winning this last year and is 13lbs below his last winning turf mark. There is rain forecast for tonight and if it gets softer it shouldn't cause a problem as he has won on soft multiple times in the past. A fair bit of money has already come for him as he was available at 6s earlier. My one concern would probably be his age because he's knocking on a bit at 9 and might be vulnerable to a younger horse but as said before he looked like he retained plenty of ability last time out and back on his favourite course with the forecast looking favourable he should be going close.

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May 3.50 Brighton Flipping really caught the eye last time out at Windsor on good ground. Failed to get the gaps when required however was finishing the race well. Hughes looks a strong booking and still well handicapped on his very best form. Soft ground no issue and if further rain was to fall again wouldn’t be a problem. 1pt win Flipping 7/2 PP

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May Brighton 2.20: Hurricane Alert - 9/2, BetVictor Decent level of form on the AW and making turf debut today. But not been as good this year needs to raise game a bit but still could be a chance switched to turf.

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May 3.10 Seggy: Acrai Rua EW 16/1 Skybet Nothing sticks out today despite 3 jump meetings. Brian Hughes getting back on Acrai Rua caught my eye and he's been pretty consistent lately despite not getting his ground very often. If its stays good going up there today he could run very well and is overpriced at 16/1.

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May Ex 6.20 - Dashul - win at 8/1 bog wm hill Novice hurdle Might be worth opposing the odds on favourite here - Taylor comes from the Henderson yard but is carrying a penalty for a soft win in a two runner maiden hurdle. Prior to that she had ben a beaten favourite 4 times in a row so doesn't appear to be the most trustworthy My selection finished 2nd in a bumper last November with the winner scoring again next time out. Ran a bit poorly next time in February when not settling in front......give her another chance after another few months break.

Re: Weekly Naps competition | Tuesday 5th May 4.00 Fakenham - Granted I am taking a bit of a flyer but I think Good Order can cause a bit of a surprise. The front two in the betting have trip doubts and I also wonder about the how good the ground is after overnight rain. See You Jack can only win when win the opposition is weak and the other two don't look good enough. We know Good Order stays, handles a bit of cut in the ground and was useful under Rules for Tom George. The Turner's are always desperate to win this and their horses always improve as the season goes on. He does need to step up on what he has shown in points so far, but he is way over priced at 16/1 with Bet365.
