Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015

Recommended Posts

16:10 Ffos Las : Irish Buccaneer @ 7/1 betvictor win thanks Irish Buccaneer......from Philip J Hobbs yard the 8yo is owned by JP McManus yard but there no AP McCoy on this horse as Richard Johnson is the man in the saddle who's been in saddle last 3 runs , Irish Buccaneer has won two hurdle races and a NH flat race from 2m to 2m 5f on ground varying from good to heavy, Its last race was 43 days ago at Newbury 2m 5f hurdle soft when it finished 2nd beaten 4.5 lengths by Leave It Be , although it took slight led over last it had no extra in run in , Hopefully the flatter track and that wee break will be enough to get a win for Johnson on horse

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 2:40 Leopardstown (1m, 2000 Guineas Trial) This is a cracking listed race and it looks a good pointer for some of the big 3 yo races over the season. Zawraq is one of my horses to follow and has been described as Weld's best 3 yo. He proved himself on this sort of ground when beating the highly rated Sir Isaac Newton but I'm not convinced the O'Brien colt was near his best and he looks too short at 7/4 in such a competitive race. Jamaica looks a high class horse but he'll be better when stepped up to 1m 4f and will come on for the run. The rain tonight which will keep the ground soft won't be in his favour as well so he's one for another day. Parish Boy won a Listed race here last Autumn over 9f which has worked out well but is another who will benefit from a longer trip. He has the form to win at this level but this is a really strong contest and he may find a few of these too classy for him. Of the outsiders Portage is the most interesting with James Doyle over from England to take the ride. He looks the type to improve with age as he fills his frame and Halford rates him very highly. At 20/1 he may be the one for each way backers but he has to prove himself in this soft ground. Mohaayed also won a maiden well and looks up to this level but like Parish Boy may find a few of these too good for him. The other outsiders have a lot to find. This leaves the Lope de Vega colt Endless Drama who was an eye catching winner of a 6f maiden at Naas. He beat a decent O'Brien runner by more than 5L without trouble before being purchased by owners from the UAE and Qatar Racing. Lope de Vega has already sired the winners of a few big prizes for 3 year olds this season including the Prix Djebel won by an 11/1 shot so his progeny seem to be training on well. They also love the soft ground which Endless Drama will get tomorrow. Andrea Atzeni is over to ride which is another big positive and I really think this one should be close if not favourite for this on this sort of ground. Endless Drama - 1pt Win @ 9/2 >Bet365

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 4.45 Ffos Las - Victory Gunner E/W @ 12/1 Bet365 I think 12/1 looks a fair price for this one. He is 17 years old, so age is against him, but he has been in good enough form to suggest that he could win a race in the future. However his last two runs have been poor. Having said that I think his last run can be excused as it was at Lingfield and he tends to do his best running at Ffos Las. He's been in the money 5 times from his 6 races at the course. His only finish outside of the places came 2 runs ago where he unseated his rider. To call it an unseat though is very harsh as another horse came across him at the last and they both went through the wings of the fence. It wasn't his fault as he had no chance of avoiding the other horse and perhaps a second was on the cards. He does need the return to Ffos Las to bring out some improvement on his run at Lingfield, but with a good record here I feel he can at least land a place.

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 Ffos 2.00 - Canicallyouback - ew at 20/1 ladbrokes Maiden hurdle over 2M 4F My selection ran well on his rules debut in a bumper, shaping with promise, beaten 7 lengths, and looking like 2 miles was a bit sharp for him. That race has thrown up winners up to grade 2 level Went off favourite in his next bumper but slipped up on the bend......ran on again but his race was over I suspect that maiden and novice hurdles at this time of year might be a bit 'after you Claude' type races because anything that wins effectively only has a couple of weeks as a Novice before the new season and they have to run against experienced horses. Do they really want to win ?.......or would they rather have another year in the Novice ranks My horse is a 7 year old and is a tall type who might be ready to go chasing sooner rather than later so maybe they're not that bothered about losing his novice status over hurdles ? Just a thought .......:rollin

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 Ffos Las 4.10 - Lewis, E/W 16/1 Paddy Power You have to forgive the horse being pulled up lto at Kempton but before that He had been running well with placed efforts at Kelso, Ffos Las and Wetherby. He's only 6 so has the scope to improve and could go well at a decent price.

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 4.10 FFOS LAS BUCK MAGIC @ 13/2 Betfred Rated 134 in his hurdling pomp back in April 2013, has only run once over hurdles since after an unsuccessful spell over Fences. Todays mark of 124 offers him a decent opportunity as does the drying ground. No blinkers today but money around this morning suggests a good run is expected.

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 4.10 flos: Mollys A Diva 1pt 8/1 PP/Lads Won last time out and although can take plenty of rousting to get her going in the right direction she is a decent mare on her day. Has won over 3m on this course but i think this slightly shorter trip will suit even better and can improve enough to defy the weight rise.

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 2.45 Market Rasen - 1pt win Countersign @ 10/1 (Bet365) Bit hit and miss but comes here with a chance on his best form. Has had a break after running in a high class event last time but has won when fresh before and if returning to the form of his run two starts back would have a chance of mixing it with the two market leaders.

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 2.00 ffos las broadway blueshirt. not run for ages, but apparently ready to show enough to be involved in the finish of this race, and will come on for the run quite a bit. not sure what the spanish form amounts to, but wouldnt need to be anything special to get involved in this, so with hearing hes done ok at home coming into this race, i feel he wouldnt need to be anything special to get involved. no trip and ground concerns and the price makes it well worth taking the chance. 0.5pts ew 20/1 ladbrokes bog

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 4.10 Ffos Las. Molly's a Diva is a horse with an unsuitable name as she revels in a battle. She has won over 2 miles and 3 miles and distances in between so this trip and the good to soft going will hold no fears. Molly's a Diva 1 pt win 8/1 Bet365 BOG

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 Ffos Las 3.05 Makethemostofnow (11/1 skybet) If non runner Market Rasen 3.20 Magic Money I’m having a terrible run with my naps this month and twelve days in I’m still looking for my first win, so here’s hoping that today’s the day. Makethemostofnow is not in good form at the moment, but he is something of a course specialist with four of his six wins having come here at Ffos Las. He also seems to handling any going having won on ground from good to heavy. He’s won at the distance and in a higher class than this. So I think he is worth a go particularly against a favourite who has never won beyond two miles and in fact has never even run beyond two and a half miles before.

Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 12th April 2015 15.20 market rasen pay the king@ 14/1 ladbrokes down below his last winning Mark...... Not shown much this season so far but should have conditions in his favour and what looks a fairly poor race. Will have a stab at 14s.
