The horses 7th of 21 was probably not a bad effort when done no favours by the draw and racing on ground that would've been softer than ideal. The horse is only 3lb higher than it last winning mark and the trainers horses have been running well of late.
DanV89
Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 29th March 2015 3.20 - Doncaster - Desert Law - 25/1 - BetVic BOG Hasnt run off a mark as low as this since 2011 and has climbed up the weights since then. Last seen at Chester in September when putting in a poor effort but has been dropped a further 3 lbs for that and has also changed trainer so hoping for some improvement as a result. Also should be able to take advantage of a good high draw and should be in with a shout at a price.
arsenalfh
Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 29th March 2015 3:10 Curragh Great Minds won this last year and although he's 19lbs higher he's lightly raced and will relish the soft ground. He should be capable of better and the second favourite wants quick ground ideally giving him strong claims here. He's up against some decent performers who are race fit but Stack had him ready for this last year and he looks like he can go onto better things. BillyHills
Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 29th March 2015 3.40 Ascot: Creevytennant EW 7/1 SJ Nice little handicap and hopefully all 8 will stand their ground for the three each way places. My selection is a front runner and has won twice this season, both at Perth. Good jumper, doesnt mind the ground and is used to carrying big weights so i'm expecting a bold show here in this company. robertob
Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 29th March 2015 3.45 Curragh: Park Express Stakes (Fillies' Group 3) Interesting renewal with plenty of possibilities and the heavy overnight rain doesn't make it any easier to solve the puzzle. Last years runner-up Odeliz is back for another crack and must be a big runner. She has form on soft ground in top class company and the only worry is her habit to find usually one or two too good. This time again? Aiden O'Brien usually takes a while to get his string going and that certainly is something to keep in mind if assessing the chance of lightly raced filly Easter. However there is plenty to like about her. She looked big and scopy last year, as well as talented with a good attitude when getting off the mark in a Leopardstown maiden towards the end of the year. She should relish the step up to 1m and should handle the ground with plenty of soft ground form on her dam side. Afternoon Sunlight was an excellent prospect last spring but saw her colours significantly lowered in the second half of last season. If she has improved over the winter, she is in with a good chance, though she has to give weight away. Avenue Gabrial has been progressive last year and showed to handle soft ground. She has two listed wins to her name so far, and while a bit more is required here, she has the right profile do really well. Alive Alive Oh has never reached the heights one expected in the early days of her career, but a break and first time cheek-pieces may help her to be competitive today. Lightly raced Steip Amach caused a huge upset in the Killavullan Stakes at the end of last season. She could have still more to offer now as a three year old. Verdict: I usually don't like backing three year olds against older horses at this early stage of the season, but Easter looked a lovely big, scopy sort, who could have plenty more to come, and she may not be unsuited by todays conditions. The weight for age allowance is a significant bonus and I would have expected to see her right at the head of the market. Could never really land a blow but comes up against horses likely to need this, and whilst this horse hasn't run recently, has won first time up before. Dropped to a fair mark, conditions are fine and importantly this appears his time of year. Hopefully can step up on the efforts from the Autumn now freshened up for the spring. Trotter
Re: Nap of the Day - Sunday 29th March 2015 Ascot 5.15 - Foundry Square - win at 13/8 bog boyles 2 mile 5 furlong hunter chase This looks a 2 horse race on paper and none of the others make much appeal The current favourite is No Loose Change from Nicholls yard. He won a very poor 3 runner affair at Fontwell two runs ago when he had 3 stone in had of the second on official rating and 5 stone on the other runner. He then pulled up in the Foxhunters at Cheltenham. Difficult to know how much the big race took out of him. The fontwell win was on heavy ground but with so much in hand he had to win that race whatever the ground.......generally though his wins come on good and good to firm and the ground will be getting softer at Ascot. This is also a bit on the sharp side for him as all his wins have been over further My selection has been steadily improving with each run after a long break. Last time out he finished 2nd with the winner going in again next time out. Acts on soft and gave Cheltenham a miss so no excuse of having a hard race.
