It probably doesn't surprise you that much Stevie but I have the answer to this. It's because they're shite
I also think they're maybe missing a few key players, they were bleating about injuries last week after Hibs beat them.

The profits continued on Tuesday night and yet again Southport did the business for us, again winning 3-0. It is going to be fairly quiet this weekend with only a couple of bets taking my fancy.
    York v Southport
Needless to say that I am siding with Southport again here although it isn't a 4pt tip this weekend! Amazingly given the position the were in a couple of months ago they find themselves just 1 point and 1 position off the play-offs. They might well find themselves in them come the end of April if this run of form keep on going and they will actually be just 3 points behind their hosts on Saturday should they beat them. Now most of the improvement has come at home and they are relatively untested away from home of late. Their away form had been poor prior to two wins at Gainsborough and North Ferriby but they are the bottom two sides in the division. Even so confidence will be sky high at the moment and York have been a frustrating side this season. I know they are 4th, but I think they should really have been challenging Harrogate and Salford for the title and fans will be disappointed that they aren't. They keep dropping silly points although they are unbeaten at home in their last 6 league games. As much as I would make York favourites I just can't understand why Southport are as big as 4/1 with Marathon as they should be at least half those odds in my view and they are very much a sporting play.
Harrow v Lowestoft and St Ives v Chesham
Needless to say I am taking Lowestoft on again and it was a shame their game got called off on Tuesday. The home side are nothing special, but at home they are solid enough and although losing heavily to Folkestone and Margate (2 of the current top 3 at the time of writing) they have won their other 3 of their last 5 home games. Not surprisingly they are short so I am sticking them in a double with Chesham. Now Chesham's only defeat in their last 10 games came when I put them up to beat St Neots! Hopefully they can make up for that here and they really should given St Ives have only got 24 points and have conceded 78 goals which is 4 more than Chesham have scored. They did win on Tuesday night but that was against a Frome side struggling for form at the moment and that came on a run of 4 straight defeats which was started in the reverse of this fixture, which Chesham won 4-0. The double pays around 9/4 with Bet365 (better might appear when other bookies price the games up) and it looks fairly solid at around those odds.

So after the two tips both called off on Tuesday night hopefully we get a clear run of things on Saturday where I have five bets.
    Maidstone v Torquay
The home side are being backed again just as they were on Tuesday night, but I have to oppose them again even though Torquay are in the bottom 4 at the moment. This is almost a must win game for the away side and on the whole their performances have been good of late. If you take out the 3-0 loss to Dagenham then their other 4 games in their last 5 have seen good performances. They drew at Macclesfield, beat Barrow and Maidenhead and were very unfortunate to lose 3-2 at Sutton in their last game. If they play like they have in any of those 4 games they will have a real chance of winning this game against a Maidstone side who haven't won in 17 league games. Marathon's 27/10 is too big for me about an away win.
    Southport v Tamworth
I put Southport up a couple of weeks ago when they beat Curzon and they look a really strong bet to beat Tamworth this weekend. Tamworth have lost their last 5 away games and haven't won in their last 8 overall losing 5 of them. Given how strong Southport are at the moment and they have won 4 home games on the bounce this looks all set to be a home win. William Hill are 11/8 about a home win which is a huge price as I would make them odds on.
    Braintree v Wealdstone
The away side had a famous victory in Essex a couple of weeks ago when beat Billericay and I think they have a great chance of winning in Essex again this weekend. Until they beat Poole last time Braintree had only picked up 2 points in 6 matches. Given Poole are in a relegation battle I hardly think a 1-0 victory screams of a team back on the top of their game again. I guess Wealdstone might have an eye on the FA Trophy semi-final, but they still have an outside shot of the play-offs and on the whole they are in good form at the moment unlike their hosts. Sportingbet's 23/10 about an away win is too big for me.
    St Albans v Truro
Truro have lost 4 of their last 5 games with their only points coming in a win over Bognor who are in the relegation zone at the moment. Hopefully I don;t put the mockers on St Albans again as their only loss in their last 6 was when I put them up to beat Welling. They still have an outside chance of the title and they should be winning this against a Truro side who are certainly off the boil at the moment. I am happy to take the shade of odds on with Marathon on a home win.
    Enfield v Lowestoft
Obviously plenty on the Lowestoft issues on Tuesday night's thread and things have got no better. The manager admitted on Thursday that he has no idea who he will have available and how many first team players he will have. Sadly for us they are playing a side who are the worst in the league on the last 10 games form table. Enfield have one win in their last ten games and that came against bottom side Burgess Hill. In normal circumstances they are hardly a side you would want to go lumping on at 4/5, but I am going to have a smaller stake on them covering the -1 handicap. If Lowestoft do have to play academy players then Enfield should be winning this fairly comfortably and at 2/1 I would rather back them to win by at lest two goals than back them at 4/5 just to win the game.
    Torquay 1pt @ 27/10 with Marathon
    Southport 4pts @ 11/8 with William Hill
    Wealdstone 1pt @ 23/10 with Sportingbet
    St Albans 3pts @ 24/25 with Marathon
    Enfield -1 1pt @ 2/1 with Betfrred

Sparta Rotterdam vs ADO Den Haag
    2018, March 04, 14:30 hrs (CET Time)
    Dutch Eredivisie
    Sparta Rotterdam
In the last place of the general table, today would descend directly, although only two points away from the posts of the relegation playoff, the team has not won as a visitor, but above all a lousy local performance is what has it in the background And if you do not make changes and get better results, the situation could be complicated greatly.

After this match the team comes complicated games, but among them one against his direct rival the Roda JC, that to win, would leave the Roda in last place and Sparta would be in the playoffs of the descent. But the situation is complicated. Has a four-game winless streak, highlighting a draw against visiting Twente, but outside of it highlights that if he has lost has been only for a single goal, painful that, but indicates that only a slight improvement would bring better results.

    ADO Den Haag
The team remains in the 8th position, making a good season, with a good performance at home complemented by a regular visitor performance. But he has achieved certain visitor victories, which have him close to European positions.

The team has five games without defeat, with three away draws, the draw against second place AJAX stands out, as well as the victory against Vitesse. The team has a good recent form that should have a better consideration for this game.

    Prediction
The last three matches between them, regardless of the field in which they played have been victories by the minimum, 1-0 of the ADO Den Haag, so I think that together with a better recent form of ADO Den Haag against match with Sparta's bad, they give ADO Den Haag the advantage.

So a rare blank day on Saturday although I had kept stakes fairly low so not too much damage done. Tuesday nights can be tricky at the best of times and even thought we have a full fixture list in the National League it looks a tricky set of fixtures. I have found 3 bets though although I will be keeping my stakes small.
    Barrow v Gateshead
This one is more based on the stats than anything else and those stats make the draw look value. Barrow may be struggling this season, but they are always hard to beat at home and have managed 1-1 draws against Wrexham, Tranmere and Sutton in three of their last 4 home games. Overall they have drawn half of their home games so far this season and this looks a game which might well again bring about a point for each team. Gateshead have drawn 7 of their away games in the league which is just under half and they might have one eye on the FA Trophy at the weekend as well. Given it is the outsider of three I am happy to take a chance on the draw.
    Ebbsfleet v Woking
It would be typical if Woking managed to get something out of this after backing them on Saturday, but all I saw was more proof they are terrible on their travels this season. They made it a respectable 3-2 late on against Hartlepool, but the damage was long done and they defended terribly for all 3 goals. Ebbsfleet got a crucial win on Saturday which keeps them in the play-off hunt and in general they have been strong at home this season. I wouldn't want to chase the price down, but at a shade of odds against with Marathon I am happy to play.
    Guiseley v AFC Fylde
I think it was a big mistake for Guiseley to sack Paul Cox last week as to me he was more likely to keep them up than anyone else. They had a pretty tough run of fixtures and although they weren't picking up points they were playing fairly well. Saturday they looked hopeless in defence and conceded some really poor goals in a 3-1 defeat against Maidenhead. They are as good as down for me and Fylde have the fire power to punish any defensive mistakes the home side make on Tuesday night. I think they have a decent chance of winning by at least 2 goals so am happy to take them on the -1 handicap at 11/5 with Betfred.

    West Ham Utd V Watford
    Watford +0.25 AH @ 1.85 Betvictor
West Ham have been in a difficult moment of late with a serious injury crisis and although players are starting to return I still feel this match with Watford will be a tricky one. Arnautovic, Lanzini and Carroll are still set to miss out for the home side and the first two players in that set are particularly crucial to the hammers fortunes. A 3-1 defeat at Brighton would not have lifted the mood in the camp and there is always a danger of West Ham's home support imploding in on the team when things are not going well.
Watford have also staggered of late but the 4-1 home victory to Chelsea should have lifted the mood and restored some confidence to Javi Gracia's side. The Hornets really do have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to attacking players and they can be a menace to any side in this division on their day. They are also strong away from home and that's another reason why I like them here, if West Ham push too hard for the win it will play to Watford's strengths.
Looking at the metrics and the EPL table we can see that these two sides are closely matched. However, I have Watford slightly ahead by most measures and do not see them having a disadvantage by being the away team here. ELO ratings also show attacking advantage has faded for West Ham in recent matches and this correlates with injuries to Arnautovic and Lanzini.
AH markets currently have West Ham 0 line around 1.75 and Watford 0 line around 2.25. In my view this should be the other way round with Watford slight favourites for the match all things considered. Because Watford had such a big win against Chelsea I am concerned this may move the markets and compromise value so I am not going to wait for more detailed team news and back Watford early here.
Will keep folks posted if there are further developments.

    Brentford vs Preston North End
    2018, February 10, 16:00 hrs
    Championship
In their matches between them in the last 11 matches, only in 1 match have they drawn, on November 17, 2012 at the home of Preston North End. Now considering Brentford at home, it has 4 wins and 1 loss against Preston North End, so the analysis would indicate that it is most likely a home win, but take into consideration that these two teams are among those that tie the most this season.
Preston North End has tied 12 of 30 games, the same number of those who have won. And both home and away has the same number of games tied 6. On the home side, Brentford has tied 7 of 15 home games with only two losses.
As for his recent performance, Brentford has nine games without a draw, and in the last five games, three have finished with just one goal. While Preston North End has three games without a draw, after two draws 1-1 (both visit and home).
It seems to be a game that will disputed and with few goals and I think there will be a draw that breaks the trend of the matches between them, as well as their recent performance and allowed them both to remain in the top of the table.

    Bristol City vs Sunderland
    2018, February 10, 16:00 hrs
    Championship
After a disastrous month of January where it only achieved a victory at the end of the month, winning against Queen Park Rangers at home, Bristol City did not start well February with visiting Bolton Wanderers. But now he returns home where Sunderland seems like a  soft rival, because their a goalkeeper out due to a dislocated finger. Both have a long list of injured players, good news for Sunderland is that Jonny Williams and Paddy McNair return, hoping to change the team's performance, which has four losses in the last five games, fortunately they won at home in Hull City, but nothing more . Sunderland has more defeats than anything at away, and has only been able to win 3 of 15 matches, so the expectations here are not high.
Bristol City has the best chances to win this match, and get an streak of two wins at home to continue the good performance they had in the first part of the season, need as their rivals recent performance is good and they would be left in a difficult position for the remaining parties.

    Ipswich vs Burton Albion
    2018, February 10, 16:00 hrs
    Championship
Ipswich Town has been better at home than away, and it remains in the middle of the table, with the teams with the fewest  draws having achieved the same number of victories as of lost matches, which keeps the chances of climbing positions.
Although they will miss David McGoldrick and others injured, awaits the debut of Mustapha Carayol, on the part of Burton, have the absences of Luke Murphy and Darrent Bent, among others, so the absences of Burton are of greater consideration.
Facing the last place in the league, Burton Albion, who despite being in that position has their reivals as close as three points away, and has had a better performance at away, with four wins by two at home. With five consecutive defeats, the goal of the team is a break that negative trend that has seen him at the end of all teams, but faces the team that has provide them with  three defeats in the recent games between them, and have always allowed two goals, so the antecedents are not good.
In addition Burton is the team that made fewer shots this season at away, only 89 shots, 36 less than other team. Therefore, it is likely that Ipswich returns to the path of victory at home.

Newport County vs Forest Green Rovers
Heading down into League Two for the second preview of this weekend's Football League action. This game stands out for me because of how heavily fancied Newport County are despite having experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during midweek with their FA Cup 4th Round replay trip to Wembley to play Tottenham.
In the local media here, all the buzz was about the Exiles heading into that game. It's been a massive dose of reality this week with all the focus back on Welsh rugby and the Six Nations. How will Michael Flynn's side be able to deal with the psychological effect of going from the highs of midweek to the grind of the league? Maybe they are lucky that it's Forest Green Rovers and not a team higher up.
Even so, I think at the odds being offered, the away side are worth backing for a double chance. County boast the 2nd best home record in the division which is admirable considering they lie 11th in the league table. Forest Green Rovers have an atrocious away record. Just 2 wins from their 15 matches on the road. Still, I'm not necessarily backing them to win. Simply to catch County in the midst of an FA Cup hangover. It might be worth the risk this weekend!

    Bradford vs Bury
OK, so I know you're probably looking at this and wondering how I can back a side that has the 5th worst home record in the division despite being 6th in the table but there is one reason. Bury's away form is a lot worse as the worst in the division with just 1 win away from home all season.
Bradford are on a terrible run of results at the moment. Stuart McCall was sacked earlier this week after seeing his team suffer six straight defeats in a row. Assistant manager Kenny Black is likely to take charge of this game but I think given how poorly the team had started playing under McCall then we should see an upturn in performances now he has gone. The club are still in the play-offs.
In this game, they face a Bury side who have been shocking this season. Only 7 of their 24 points have come on the road. They sit bottom of League One and are 9 points from safety. Results have improved since the sacking of Chris Lucketti but this is a tough game. To be cautious, it might be tempting to back the  draw. However, I'm backing the Bantams to get back to winning ways here.

With the price have long gone on Aldershot I am just going to start a new post rather than edit the original one with the rest of my tips for this weekend. There are 5 more of them starting with a game on Friday night.
    FCUM v Chorley
I really don't understand the price of FCUM here and they look a big price at 3/1. They have won 8 of their last 9 home games and the one time they didn't they drew with Brackley. That is an impressive run of form especially when you consider they have beaten Salford and Harrogate who are the top 2 in the division and with Brackley in 3rd it proves they really can beat anyone in the league right now on their own patch. Given Chorley are only 4 points ahead of their hosts in the league and given the fact they have only won one of their last 8 games I just can't understand why Chorley are even favourites for this. That 3/1 is with Bet365 and it looks massive in a game that should see a big crowd. Hopefully they will make it a profitable start to the weekend.
    Ebbsfleet v Solihull
Ebbsfleet have become a bit disappointing really and unless they can turn things around quickly they look set for a mid-table finish. Granted Solihull are no Tranmere or even Boreham Wood, but they have lost successive games 3-0 and have won just one of their last 7. That was against Maidstone who are hardly in the best of form themselves. Solihull did us a big favour by beating Dagenham a couple of weeks and as I said then they are giving themselves a real chance of survival and Mark Yates and Tim Flowers have really turned them around. Bet365 are 11/5 about an away win and that looks a fair price.
    Hampton v Whitehawk
Hamptons long unbeaten record in the league went last week after they lost to Bath and although it seems others have woken up to Whitehawk's improved form I think they are still worth backing here. Even though they won 5-1 last weekend they were still put in at a huge price to win this, but they have been backed in which is a shame as much as it isn't a huge surprise. Still we were on them before the rest caught up! Sportingbet are 4/1 about an away win and that is still too big for me.
    Hungerford v St Albans
Somehow I made a profit on the tips last weekend despite the fact my two strongest fancies were both beaten. Hungerford were one of them and they were awful in a 4-1 defeat at Eastbourne. To lose like that to a team who had looked awful themselves I think says more about Hungerford than it does Eastbourne. St Albans had looked like they had lost all chance of winning the title, but they have really found their form again of late and on the back of beating East Thurrock 7-2 they then were really impressive in beating top of the table Dartford 4-0. In a way that result will count for nothing if they can't back it up here at Hungerford, but I think they can. I am surprised they are just over 6/4 (Marathon) as I would have them closer to even money myself.
    Blyth Spartans v Brackley
Brackley were another of the winners last week and I am backing them again here. Blyth are badly out of form at the moment having won just one of their last 7 and they have lost 5 of those. That win came against lowly Gainsborough as well which backs up how much they are struggling right now. As well as reaching the last 8 of the FA Trophy they have lost just on of their last 10 league games and they look a good price at 31/20 with Marathon to pick up another victory.
    FCUM 2.5pts @ 3/1 with Bet365

    Whitehawk 1pt @ 4/1 with Sportingbet

    Arsenal vs Everton
It's been a tough few weeks for Arsene Wenger's side as the #WengerOut brigade have been handed ample ammunition after the Gunners have managed just two wins in their last eight competitive matches. Signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will have silenced some doomsayers but results are needed urgently.
Things have been just as rocky (not sticky!) for the Toffees. Life was good under Sam Allardyce a few months back but form has mellowed. The win against Leicester in midweek was a first win in six matches for Everton. So they will be hoping to build on that with former Gunner Theo Walcott looking to draw blood against his former team.
This game has goals written all over it. Arsenal have 14 goals in their last 7 matches. Not signing a commanding centre back could be a continuing issue for Arsenal. Everton do not have a much better defensive record away from home with just two clean sheets on the road all season. Picking a winner is tough but it could be one where home advantage prevails in a goal-filled fiesta.

The midweek card was great but this looks a lot more difficult on first viewing. I'm struggling to shortlist games here and you know you're in trouble when that happens. Some cards you just have to sit back and let it all play out and that might not be a bad idea this weekend, let the dust settle after that wretched transfer window.
Will post again if I find anything but not really expecting to with this pile of dross.
@andrewcalo Swansea have a fighting chance of staying in the division now, despite the naysayers. Are you able to conjure up any bets from leftfield on this card?

    Leeds vs Cardiff
After Bristol City and Swansea, it is probably fair to say that Leeds are our next biggest rivals. Between 12th September, 1984 and 11th April, 2015 we played Leeds 17 times winning 12 and drawing 5 of those encounters. It was a very one-way rivalry. However, Leeds won the next three games but we have clawed our impressive record back winning the past two meetings.
Leeds are going through a rough spell with manager Thomas Christiansen not seeing his side win in five league games picking up just two points in that run. The club is now down in 10th place after appearing to start the season as potential automatic promotion chasers.
Cardiff are not exactly flying either. The injury to Aron Gunnarsson has really caused us problems. One win in our past five league games has hit our automatic promotion hopes but we remain in 5th place and just 3 points off the top two with a game in hand. So it's not a disaster but we need to start getting the wins again.
I was very disappointed with our January transfer window activity. £6m for Gary Madine is bizarre. Letting Omar Bogle go is strange too. Armand Traore is an interesting signing but we didn't address the important DM issue. Until Gunnarsson returns we will not be at our best and will have to grind out results. I fear we might not get anything here. I'll show some naive faith and back us to get a point but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we do.

Coventry travel to Forest Green tomorrow hoping to overturn the 1-0 home loss earlier in the season. We have won 8 games out of 10 in all competitions so come into the game as the form side, Forest Green have lost 8 out of their last 10 games. Forest Green had a very busy transfer window so hopefully for us their team takes a bit more time to gel together!  We had a decent deadline day. Selling Ben Stevenson (who is 4th choice centre midfielder) to Wolves and getting Jonson Clarke-Harris on loan gives us another physical option up top. Looks like we've got cover all over the park. A win would be massive here with a tough run of games coming up against teams around us (Accrington, Colchester, Mansfield, Wycombe, Lincoln and a Luton game to re-arrange in amongst that).

    -  MANSFIELD (1.66) - On form attacking side should see off the basement club Barnet at home and keep their promotion push on track.
    -  NOTTS COUNTY (1.66) - Big game for Notts County who haven't won in 4 league games. But i'd fancy them to beat Crewe at home and get back on track. Crewe concede a lot of goals.

    Rotherham vs AFC Wimbledon
It might be easy to look at the statistics on paper and wonder how Rotherham are valued so high to win at home against a side that are in the lower half of the table. However, if you watched any of AFC Wimbledon's past few matches you will see they are a team that are brimming with confidence and manager Neal Ardley will undoubtedly be happy with the progress they are making after a slow start to the season.
The Millers are sitting in 6th place with three wins from their last five matches and three wins from their last four home games. Automatic promotion might realistically be slipping away with Wigan, Blackburn, and Shrewsbury pulling away but this is a side that wants a return to the Championship asap. AFC Wimbledon are in 16th place and just 4 points outside the relegation zone but they have won three of their last four league games.
Paul Warne's side have one of the best home records in the division scoring an incredible 31 goals at the New York Stadium this season. AFC Wimbledon are not too bad on the road. They have taken something from 8 of their 14 away games. However, they will need to be at their best to avoid defeat here. It should be an exciting game but Rotherham should have too much for the real Dons.

Peterborough look a bit of value at Evs. Their form is patchy but given Southend very poor season (last game aside) peterbrough need to win to close the gap on the play offs . Southend away for is particularly bad as well so I will take the Evs on the home win.

Northampton look good price to beat a poor Rochdale team. Northampton picked up recently whereas Rochdale are one of the poorest if not the poorest away team in the league. I will take the 8/5 on Northampton.

    Plymouth vs Blackburn
One team that have been rewarding my faith in them over recent weeks is Blackburn. Tony Mowbray's side are 2nd in League One after a fine run of results that has seen them go undefeated in 18 league matches including 10 wins from their last 14 league games. That last defeat coming in a 1-0 loss away to Oldham. Impressively, Blackburn have taken 28 points from a possible 42 on the road.
Plymouth are their hosts here and it's been a difficult season for the Pilgrims so far. Derek Adams side endured an awful start to the season losing 9 of their first 12 matches. Their form has improved since 7th October but they remain in 13th place. It is still an improvement on the early doom and gloom predicted.
The down side for the home team is that they have only won 6 of their 15 games at home. One defeat in their last 10 league games will give them confidence going into this game but Blackburn should have enough to squeeze out a narrow win to continue their rampant march to what seems like an inevitable return to the Championship.
