Bolton vs Bristol City

The Championship weekend schedule starts tomorrow with a clash between two sides that have been battling with inconsistent form recently. Bolton are languishing down in 22nd place but are only in the relegation zone on goal difference. Bristol City have slumped over the festive period as attention has focused on their Carabao Cup run. However, the Robins appear to have steadied the ship in recent weeks.

The Trotters were busy on transfer deadline day bringing in four players in the shape of Zach Clough, Tyler Walker, Reece Burke, and Jon Flanagan. Gary Madine exited the club to Cardiff but they will surely be pleased with their business overall. City's deadline day activity was quiet with the biggest transfer arguably coming a week ago in the form of St Etienne loan signing Lois Diony.

My feeling is that City have put the Carabao Cup exploits firmly behind them now. The draw away to Derby followed by the win against QPR has hinted at this. Two clean sheets in consecutive games will also boost their morale. Wanderers are without a win in three games. The new signings should revitalise a stale squad but it'll take time. Bristol City should have enough to come through this. I wouldn't put it past them keeping another clean sheet either.

Leeds vs Cardiff

After Bristol City and Swansea, it is probably fair to say that Leeds are our next biggest rivals. Between 12th September, 1984 and 11th April, 2015 we played Leeds 17 times winning 12 and drawing 5 of those encounters. It was a very one-way rivalry. However, Leeds won the next three games but we have clawed our impressive record back winning the past two meetings.

Leeds are going through a rough spell with manager Thomas Christiansen not seeing his side win in five league games picking up just two points in that run. The club is now down in 10th place after appearing to start the season as potential automatic promotion chasers.

Cardiff are not exactly flying either. The injury to Aron Gunnarsson has really caused us problems. One win in our past five league games has hit our automatic promotion hopes but we remain in 5th place and just 3 points off the top two with a game in hand. So it's not a disaster but we need to start getting the wins again.

I was very disappointed with our January transfer window activity. £6m for Gary Madine is bizarre. Letting Omar Bogle go is strange too. Armand Traore is an interesting signing but we didn't address the important DM issue. Until Gunnarsson returns we will not be at our best and will have to grind out results. I fear we might not get anything here. I'll show some naive faith and back us to get a point but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we do.

Wolves vs Sheffield United

Every time it looks like Wolves might start to hit a rough patch they steady the ship to retain their distance between themselves and the chasing pack. It's an impressive trait of a side that was arguably the strongest squad in the Championship before transfer deadline day but now appear to be years ahead of the rest of us after their transfer window signings. The signing of former player Benik Afobe is certain to help deal with the issue of goals going slightly dry since the festive period.

The home side remain top of the Championship 11 points clear of 2nd placed Derby. Nuno Espirito Santo's side have won 10 of their 14 league games at Molineux. It's a huge testament to their attacking strength that in those 14 matches they have scored 28 goals averaging 2 goals per home game.

Sheffield United look to have overcome their difficult patch. Having started the season well they have dropped to 7th in the table but remain just 2 points off the play-offs having lost only 1 of their last 4 league games. Unfortunately, their away record isn't the best and they have only won 6 of their 14 away games.

For me, this has a Wolves win written all over it. They are the champions elect and their recent transfer dealings have only strengthened an already high quality side. The Blades are not the side they were at the start of the season. They will give it a good go here but quality will prevail.

Wednesday are 20/1 for relegation with betfred which is still too big imo

there are still many long term injured with no information from the club on imminent returns

we recruited one player in January and there appears to be a feeling still that we are too good to go down

Birmingham in comparison are 3/1

we have a crucial game away to Barnsley next week

I have been backing them at 80/1 40/1 33/1 and again at 20/1
