I wouldn't worry about it, just post away, easier to keep a record.
As for ratings methodology - keep it simple and logical, that's it. Mine hasn't changed in 12 years.

Sir Puntalot reacted to LegendMon in ELO & Form Ratings System / New Approach
    Hi Guys,
I've been working on very arbitary rating systems in the past, with mixed results, until discovering ELO ratings. Over the last few months I have been working on developing my own improved rating system which seems to be working more solidly for the time being.
With all the reading that I was doing, I found that it was common that each teams ELO rating continues from season to season. I'm not entirely sure what the reasoning behind that is, or how accurate that can be -- especially when you take into account promotion and relegation. My personal view is that each team may be very active in pre-season, have a new manager, have a new billionaire owner. This could skew the ratings massively in favour (or against) certain teams. Take a league like the Eredivise, or Allsvenskan, where players move on with regularity. A large team can easily be decimated, and a small team can improve with exciting youngsters. I like to see that a new season as a fresh start, and their results from ten seasons ago don't matter.
For that reason, my method makes each team start on the same amount of points at the beginning of each season. I then see each league as a long poker tournament where the home team and away team both post their respective big blind (7%) and small blind (5%) into the pot, respectively. The ratings for each team then grow/reduce as usual (I use a goal supremacy system to divide the pot). To strengthen the short term success, it take into account the overall progress combined with the last five home or away games, in order to get a final percentage for a home win, draw and away win. This system, therefore, works best after 10 games so recent form can take effect.
Here's an example from last weekend Swedish Allsvenskan:
    Djurgården: 42,93% / Draw: 21,09% / Orebro: 35,97%
Final result was 3-2 to the home team. According to the odds before the match (1.56), Djurgården were not value.
    Any thoughts?

Gremio are absolutely shocking on their away ratings at the moment, actually shocking is an understatement. Last 3 games conceded 8, scored 0 and offered very little up front.
Vitoria are no world beaters, but they're decent at home and know where the goal is.

Everyone remember to check to ELO match ratings every gameweek, they are a very useful gauge for a teams attacking form imo.

     to PL higuys.
The stats on the tips aren't shown as yet, because it's a very temporary setup which will change shortly. Horse Racing & Football have both actual tips and top rated tips, so that's quite different to most sites also.
All current tipsters have a long term proven record of being profitable though, that's without question.
The setup will change soon where we introduce a new style that will include a full list of fixtures for each sport with live betting odds. This will also include a betslip feature where you can bet multiples whilst still being on PL.
In summary, PL used to be defined just by its forum and tipsters. However once the new structure, design and features are in place, it won't be defined by anything in particular. It will become more of a home for punters with everything they need right here. Tips, Ratings, Racecards, Live Scores, Odds Comparison, Stats, Forum, bet multiples while on the site and much more planned.
If there's anything particular you'd really like us to add, we also want to know that.

I use the ratings to bet on MLS, which are the tips that go up here at the moment https://www.punterslounge.com/betting-tips/football

Ratings tipped up Philadelphia @ 4.20 and Under 2.5 Houston v Seattle last night so a decent result, and well worth keeping an eye on.

Well, all I do is study sides that are large underdogs, home and away. Eight years of Premier League data in my database show the following records by underdogs to favorites of 2.0 or below:
Away dogs up to 3.99: 23-29-42 (24% win, 31% draw)
    4.0 to 4.99: 64-91-180 (19% win, 27% draw)
    5.0 to 5.99: 33-39-99 (19% win, 23% draw)
    6.0 to 7.99: 28-52-150 (12% win, 23% draw)
    8.0 and above: 18-18-119 (12% win, 12% draw)
As you can see, draws do better than wins if you're choosing the outright markets, and you'll lose playing handicaps in all cases except the first.
Home dogs up to 3.99: 12-9-13 (35% win, 26% draw)
    4.0 to 4.99: 29-47-78 (19% win, 31% draw)
    5.0 to 5.99: 20-29-71 (17% win, 24% draw)
    6.0 to 7.99: 23-25-81 (18% win, 19% draw)
    8.0 and above: 5-8-38 (10% win, 16% draw)
The first two are decent bets, anyway.

This is my first post, although I have been reading PL for a few years now. Generally I find it excellent and if if it wasn't for Adpea, I would have had a poor season last season ( Thanks Adpea)
    So first post... Here goes...
I grew up in the Oak Rd terrace at Keilworth Rd, and the "Old Lady" will be rocking tonight in the League cup.
The Villa players won't be used to grounds like this, noisy, intimidating & close to the pitch. The crowd will play a huge part tonight, definitely the 12th man.
I have been a Brighton season ticket holder since the Amex was built, and had been very impressed with Nathan Jones during his time at the Abion. I was delighted when he decided to take over at Luton, and his arrival made a big impact on the style of football. He has made 2 excellent signings from Brighton in Chris Walton (England U19 keeper) & Glen Rea, a highly rated defensive player form the development squad.
To go to Plymouth on the first day of this season and win 3-0 is a phenomenal result. Nathan will want to keep momentum going upwards, so should field a strong side tonight.
Di Matteo will be desperate for a win to kick start the season for Villa, but he will be more focused on keeping his best players fit for the league.
A Kenilworth Rd cup tie, under lights, against a team on the slide, has all the ingredients to make me feel optimistic about tonight.
    Gone for
    1 untit - Luton Town +1 AH @ 1.96
    9.60 - Luton to win @ 3.95

Trying to keep it sensible, still we seem some form.
A good start though, a return on the first day of the season!!
Norwich were too good not to back at that price, Blackburn are going down, I said that before the season started and today has just confirmed my suspicions.
The Forest result was closer than I expected and when we (Huddersfield) conceded an equalizer in the 79th minute, I thought my bet was blown but we re-took the lead almost immediately.
Great start to the season betting wise.
