Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Frozen Fire 2.45 Epsom (WIN) Frozen Fire has some good form on offer but disappointed at this course when held up by Mick Kinane. It's another I want to see ridden more prominently and Murtagh is on board today. It won the Irish Derby in good style and Casual Conquest won recently to bolster form but did not get the trip in the St Leger. The race last time out was a farce and can be completely ignored. I mentioned to Fintron and Wizzkid Walter at York that you have to take note of O Briens runners at big odds (and then did not back Black Bear Island :wall) and 9-1 for this is an insult to me. It does not seem the most reliable but for me trip and ground will be fine and the trainer has to be respected. The horse looked to have come on ok but was caught out last time by a crawl and a sprint with the finishing time 54 secs slower than standard. Big price and big chance, will probably get backed in before the race.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Oaks 4.05 Sariska to skate in--even "Frank" cant mess this up[well hopefully] Been backing her since the Fred Darling 16/1,12/1,9/1 on Musidora day, plenty of 5/1s,where she ran a tremendous race to finish 4th[after bad interferance just after the 2furlong pole, and Spencer gave her an easy from then on]eating up ground hand over fist in the final furlong over distance 7f which was to short . The form of F/Darling is solid, winner finished 2nd Irish Guiness,2nd finished 3rd 1,ooo Guiness---WITH A BETTER RIDE Sariska would have won this race. M Bell then chose not to run in Guiness[blessing as ground was really fast]and go for Musidora then onto Oaks In the Musidora she showed how good she was--running away with the race, there have been doubts stressed about her seeing out the Oaks distance. No worries on my part, the way she finished the York race[final furlong] was impressive, striding out powerfully to the line--will definetly stay. Could not believe price's offerered after this race 5/1,and i believe if trained by Cecil,Stoute,O'Brian she woulda been a 7/4 shot[my view] In my view there is only 1 posible danger to Sariska winning this by a street--RainbowView --she was an awesome 2yr old filly, but there are to many doubts[temprement, wither she's trained on]. On what i've seen this year Sariska's the 1,[and have backed her accordingly and fully expect to be loaded after the race],and turn out to be as good a filly as PeepingFawn

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 1:40 Epsom - Confront - Back It takes a special horse or potentially special horse to be a 5/4 favourite in a Group 3 at Epsom, and that's exactly what Confront is. Potentially a very classy type. Won with a lot in hand in a class 2 last time out in seasonal re-appearance at Newmarket. That suggested that he had really come into himself over the winter, and there could be a heck of a lot more to come. Hopefully he can keep my 100% start to the month going 1pt win

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 405 The Oaks: WADAAT e/w Won impressively staying on well early in season at Yarmouth over a mile. Disappointed at Lingfield but again impressed in Italy. Neil Callan has already thrown a blanket over the Lingfield run and I'm buying what he says as Gospel having followed him for years and having found him to be rather genuine and accurate in his perceptions. I still find the 25 too juicy to resist at an e/w price and, though I think Rainbow View, Midday and Saskia all deserve to be vying for favouritism, one will surely disappoint and leave the door open for an unfancied shot to at least sneak a place. Hopefully mines! Wadaat e/w please.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Epsom 1.40pm 1pt lay General Eliott A class horse on his day but today the field is packed with many good horses and will be hard to win this,a few horses at bigger odds stand out today and will go well. Market is screaming top horse Confront who imv is very good and looks booked for at least a place today,General Eliott is high in the odds but this reflects for me that he wont win and is value as a profit is a profit no matter how small, many drips fill the bucket, laying. Goodluck Whatever You Bet Today

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 7.50 Goodwood Chris Wall may not be the biggest trainer in Newmarket but he does a sterling job with what he has got and was in the money when Premio Loco, who had looked held and beaten, landed a listed race at this track at the weekend. He sends out Beau Fighter in the Ecologist handicap and I fancy his gelding to raise the temperature and come out on top in this survival of the fittest. There are quite a few dangers in opposition - Rio Guru is well handicapped on the pick of her form but has a little to prove at present, whilst the likes of Jo'Burg, Vinces and Megalala all bring last time out winning form to the table. However, The first two must raise their game having won in lesser company and Megalala has a little to find with Beau Fighter based on recent Newbury running, as the last named ran out a comfortable winner on his handicap debut. After just the four starts he is unexposed and open to further improvement, and although his previous win came on softer ground, his performance on good to firm ground in a Folkestone maiden augurs well for today. 1 pt win

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 4.05 Epsom Oaks SARISKA (1m 4f, Grp1, G/Firm) Been in my notebook since i saw it at Newbury & won really impressively in the Musidora at York beating Star Ruby 3.5L. I have previewed the race in the Epsom thread & feel its a 2 horse race with Midday being the challenger. If Spencer can keep his head, it will be a classic wiinner dinner with Emma tonight. SUPER NAP PLEASE 2PTS WIN

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 3.25 Epsom - LAKE POET (win) Epsom's one of the tracks in which I place great stock in previous Course form, and there are none better in this line up than the Course form of the top-weight Lake Poet. 3rd in this race in 2006 before winning it in 2007 having just won the Great Met here a couple weeks earlier. He comes into today's race having run a very nice 2nd in the City & Suburban here a couple weeks ago behind the absolute handicap snip, Duncan. In good form, top notch Course form, his trainer's in decent form, and Ryan Moore in the plate who rode 6 at Sandown last night for a 323111 record.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 2.45 Epsom - BUCCELLATI This is a horse I have taken a huge liking to over the past few seasons. He is as genuine as they come and he seems to be getting better with age. I really believe he is upto winning a Group 1, especially a race like this were it looks a bit below par in my opinion. Youmzain is obviously the class horse in the race but I can never hit Channons horses spot on, I don't like the guy as a trainer and this horse does need everything to fall right. Buccellati won a farcial Ormonde Stakes last time out and he showed his adaptability making the running that day and sprinting away close home. He is usually held up so that performances shows he can be ridden closer to the front should there be a lack of pace today. The horse he beat that day, Scintillo has since gone onto win a Group race in France and Frozen Fire was well beaten in last and yet is shorter than Buccellati today? Lets face it, the only reason that is the case is because he hails from Ballydoyle. Buccellati easily has the beating of Ask, Duncan and Frozen Fire in the last 9 months and yet he is available at a larger price than all of these horses. I really believe this horse is seriously underrated and his tough as teak attitude and ability to handle sharp courses will stand him in good stead this afternoon. I honestly think he is upto winning this and will be dissapointed should he finish out of the frame. SUPER NAP - 2PTS WIN

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 150 Catterick : Ceedwell The trainers rates this one very highly and if coming through this ok Royal Ascot will be next. You have to think he must win here against this opposition to even remotely be as good as Brian Smart thinks. He won well after a slow start on his debut but should know more today. The danger could be the fast starting Oondiri but he hung left the time before and is maybe not that straightforward. A poor price but cant nail any at Epsom so this will hopefully deliver the goods.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 2.45 Epsom - ASK Ran a great race in the Yorkshire cup (I backed Fiulin and was severly dissapointed :() and reading it's form it's ran against horses such as Duke Of Marmalade and finishing 5th behind them. Only worry I have is Buccelatti who's beaten Ask before, Youmzain on the other - very good horse but his come from behind tactic leaves him a very vulnerable horse. 2pt win

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 4.45 catterick Red Cape Red Cape offers best value went down a neck last time out after a break...should strip fitter, only concern is the wide draw however Ruth Carr is doing well just now and this might be its best chance..the real danger comes from Maison Deui who ran yesterday at hamilton, watched the race and if the horse had got the split theres no doubt it would have bolted in against the much faniced Tangerine Trees. Currently around 8/1 on the exchanges.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 4.05 Epsom Oh Goodness Me 0.5pts E/W I view todays distance as being better suited for Oh Goodness Me, She has also shown she has a good turn of foot when winning the Lodge Park Stud at the Curragh in March and may be better than her ratings suggests. She came nowhere when run in the French 1000 Guineas but 3rd in the Irish 1000 Guineas. Negatives - Her best form is with some give in the ground ( she has won on good going though). On her running style, the unique Epsom course could find her out if she became unbalanced ( my preference for her would be the Irish Oaks). The price that is generally on offer means that I'll go E/W.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Epsom 16.05 Oaks - Midday - win The most impressive for me out of all the trials for this. I know its been said that she werent up against much but shes bred for the trip and proved she'll relish coming round that bend with lingfields similar final bend, Trainer and jockey both positives.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Epsom 16:50 Khor Dubai showed some great potential last season and this is who I'm gunning for here. Although had a poor return this year, perhaps the visor can help it along. Goldophin have a decent record in this race and with Dettori on board, who knows. Doubts over if it could last another furlong, but I am quite confident this one can do well. Nasri is the one to beat in this race, however "Frank" is on board and yet again he could well **** up. 1pt WIN.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Instinct is to keep my NAP at Wolverhampton where I think Dome Rocket and Jessica Wigmo are good bets, but I do really like Plum pudding at the feature meeting: 2.05 Plum Pudding Richard Hannon's horse has specialised at Newmarket in recent years, with 4 of his 5 career victories coming there. However, there are some formlines that mean I cant ignore this horse today. First time out this season at Warwick, Plum Pudding won what looked an average conditions race. However, I suspect that this "average conditions race" is a lot better than what people are giving credit for. 4th that day was Winker Watson, a top class 2 year old who has lost his way. 3rd that day was Carcinetto who has come out and won a decent race since. However, the most eyecatching is Dream Eater, who finished 2nd beaten 1 1/4 lengths by Plum Pudding. When Dream Eater ran again, it was in the Bet 365 mile, a Group 2 race, where he finished an excellent 2nd behind Paco Boy. Going by this formline, Plum Pudding is right up there, and would take an awful lot of beating in handicap company considering the horse he beat last time has subsequently been placed in Group 2 company. WIN

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 GENERAL ELLIOT 1.40 Epsom. 0.5 points each way. I like this horse, as although a bit head strong, he's shown he has a touch of class and is open to further progression in first time blinkers. The trip and ground hold no fears and I think with getting the race run to suit he can go very close.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 royal power 210 epsom. 0.5 pts ew. comes back from a little break and i think it will be the pause that refreshes. has every chance on best form and weight combined, especially off a mark of 95 today. trip and ground shouldnt be any concerns and if bouncing back to form would have every chance at big odds.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 BLAKESHALL DIAMOND 2.35 Wolverhampton. 0.5 points each way. Recent form leaves a lot to be desired, but if we look back at his runs for this yard, then he certainly has every chance of a win of this mark of 52. Also, as happened many times in the past, new scenery for a horse can bring them back to life, and with already proving he likes being at the Chamberlain yard, and with no trip and surface concerns, then the 40/1 on offer does look very big indeed. So well worth taking the chance that he bounces back to form today.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Eps 4.05 Rainbow View 1pt win For me still the best horse in the race as OR also suggest. At hq she was disappointing if her amazing 2 yr form was taken into account but at the same time if that was her only run and she didn’t have her previous form, many would be pinpointing a top class trial where she stayed on really strongly. She clearly hated that really quick ground and in many ways it was her class that go her through to 5th. Today is a completely different test at 12f and one that she is unproven at although she is by a fairly strong stamina influence. I think 10f would definitely be in her radar although the extra couple of furlongs is the question mark. However the smallish nature of the field could help in that regard, it will still be a test but not as major a test as in other years it could have been, last year for example where the pace was far too quick and favoured the real stayers. Ground today she just about be ok, still quickish but not as quick as at hq which on 2 yr form would still be ok or at least should be. She could just have this class edge and if she gets the trip I think she wins this and her class I believe can help her get the trip or at least appear to.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 Epsom 4.05 - Oh Goodness Me - EW Bolger's filly has some good form in the book and looks a bit under-rated........ She won a group 3 on seasonal debut, was outpaced in the French guineas on good ground and then finished 3rd in the Irish guineas on heavy ground. It might be a concern that all her best results have been on soft or heavy ground, but I think it's just that she needs soft/heavy at around a mile to bring her stamina into play - the extra distance today would counteract the better ground. I hear on the telly that Phillipina might front run today to make it a test of stamina.........and hopefully Perfect Truth will be up there as well. There are stamina doubts about all the fancied runners in the race and those two, along with my selection, can't hope to win in a sprint finish......so I'm hoping the Stoute and O'Brien horses will set it up for mine..................:hope

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 325 Epsom – Lake Poet – 1 pt winHard to see this one out of the frame and he looks the most likely winner. Has a great record at Epsom – 3112 and is only 1lb higher than when winning this in 2007. He ran a great race last time out, finishing 2nd behind a very well treated rival, Duncan, who has since won in Listed company and is now rated 14lb’s higher than when beating Lake Poet. He can do the form a further favour by winning the 2.45.

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 5th June 2009 4.05 Epsom Oh My Goodness Win Jim Bolger wouldn't have this one entered if he didnt think it had a big chance in this today. Has already won a group 3 at the Curragh over a mile in March and LTO finished a nice 3rd in the Irish 1000 Guineas over the same C&D. Step up in distance today could bring about further improvement and looks over-priced for a trainer who has a decent record at this meeting.
