Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat)

Just the one real bet for today: 6.25 Lingfield Charming Ballet (16/1 Stan James) - Lightly raced 4yo that, strictly speaking, has little chance on the form book. However, has been off for over 12 months before its 4 runs this term. Looked on its way back at Goodwood 2 weeks ago when 4th and dropped a further 4lb and down to Class 6 tonight for this race. Same distance, and similar going too. Has a big chance if reproducing its 2yo form. I just think conditions are right tonight for this animal....trip, going, jockey, class, handicap mark and has a great draw. 10 of 13, on a track where high draw is essential. Big price too.
16/1 winner:nana :cow :nana :cow ..... and available at much bigger prices at Betfair:ok
u said you werent picking anything today' date=' ive been out & come back to this :loon [/quote'] Sorry Rob:$ I said I had nothing for the afternoon cards, but I forgot to mention tonight!

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Been too busy to get online or have a bet today. Just logged on before I go out to casino and nice to see good old Russ firing in another big priced winner. I hope it was a Sports Punter selection too. 1st place is yours this month with the form you've hit. :clap :) :clap Well done mate :clap :) :clap

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Races (Flat) Just the 1 runner today, and it's a winner at 16/1:nana Current situation:- Staked = 1180.00pts Returned = 1522.10pts Profit = +342.10pts Yield = +29.0% Bets = 118 Winners = 17 (14.4% s/r) Places (incl wins) = 48 (40.7% s/r) Also, as an aside, I have to thank you guys for all your support and advice. This thread was going nowhere as I was relying too much on system based selections and unofficial ratings from RP, ATR and Massey, as well as my own judgement.....so, if I fancied a horse but Massey / ATR / RP thought it had no chance, I discounted it:$ . However, after last Saturday afternoons results, I scrapped all those and decided to adopt a new approach. http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50135 See my post in that thread These are the main factors, and used as a marker but these are not set in stone, as tonights selection proved. So far, results have been encouraging by relying on my analysis more with 4 winners (20/1, 16/1, 11/1, 10/1), 3 placed (12/1, 12/1, 8/1) and 5 unplaced from the last 12 selections....saying that, it's probably luck, just a good streak! Ultimately, what I'm trying to say is 'trust your own judgement'. Sorry for going on a bit:$

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Mate .. I stopped reading the RP and ATR analysis and picks 2 months ago. I still read what they think, but I don't use it anymore to decide what to back . My results just smashed my own head. Hit so many winners I've never imagined I can hit for such a small amount of time. Forget RP and etc. .. trust your own judgement :ok

Ffallen has just ffallen away mate. It's zekikum you need to keep an eye on now. Belting tipping this month mate. :ok I agree with you about putting too much emphasis on RP write ups/ratings etc. Stick with your own judgement. I've let the write ups stop me backing horses before and when they've won at double figure odds i've been kicking myself. All the stats and info you need is on RP site, it's how you interpret it and use it that counts. :)

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Half the stakes tomorrow, as this is a big, big outsider: 4.45 Carlisle 1m on soft ground for this 16 runner, Class 5 handicap and I'm going for the complete rag of the field: Brace Of Doves (RPF 40/1) - Impossible to fancy? Well, on the form book, yes. But we will have soft ground today and this horse handles it as well as any in the field. Lightly raced horse, but was going well in 2005. 3 wins & 1 place from 12 starts at around 1 mile, whilst record on soft stands at 1 win / 2 places from just the 3 tries. Lowest ever mark today, having shown nothing whatsoever this term (badly drawn lto). There is every chance that this animal will finish in the last 2 or 3, BUT if things click into place, a good showing & a result in the first 3 is not out of the question. A little E/W is advised.

Nice write up there mate. Ground will be soft up there as well.hopefully its around the price you say. small stakes will see me have a dabble at this. not greedy but 66/1 will be nice;) Good luck with this for tomorrow Russ.:hope

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Great winner Russ, I love to see guys wins that put the effort in, in the first place. Well deserved mate and also for ploughing on through the sticky patch, many walk away after a couple of losers, if you believe in what your doing it will come right at some point, which you have proved. Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Onto today, and staying away from Ascot: 5.45 Thirsk 20 declared, but only 17 face the starter in this 6f handicap, Class 4. Open race, going 6/1 the field: Continent (9/1 Sporting Odds) - on old form, the clear pick. Dandy Nicholls has 3 in this and I believe this to be his strongest hope. Ridden by the up & coming Silvestre De Sousa, this horse should go well from a favourable draw. On a winning mark and should be capable in this grade, with the step back up to 6f in its favour as is the cut in the ground. Has looked on its way back last 2 starts, finishing 2nd over inadequate trip 2 starts ago and poor draw lto.
