Monthly Nap Competition - Friday August 5th

4.00 Musselburgh

Steve Rogers 5/2 Bet365

This horse has been well fancied for various races this season, notably the Chester Cup. Well backed again in the Northumberland Plate and ran much better when finishing 6th. Decent ground seems to be the key as he ran well last time at Ascot when second to a decent sort and interesting that he travel up here to Scotland for a weaker event. Only 1lb higher than last time and must go close.

2.50 Wolverhampton

Virile may well romp home in this but I came keen to take him on at 11/8 given he only raced 2 days ago although unlucky in the run that was over 5f, not so convinced over todays 6f.

Dream Ally is some what of a CD specialist he won in good style back in April off a mark of 48 has run well recently off much higher marks latest over 5f at Newcastle when staying on over 5f, will be better suited to this return to 6f, has won off higher marks previously and looks to be in form at present in a race where that cant be said for the most he should go well.

1pt win Dream Ally 7/2 bet365

6.40 Newmarket: Jupiter Light @ 5/2 Ladbrokes

Hot maiden but Gosden's colt stands out with Dettori booked. Well bred for this trip and expected to be ready for the job on hand right now. By Lonhro who was an excellent juvenile, out of Fantasia who was a pattern winner over 7f in her debut season - trainer Gosden often introduced successfully those types over the years.

4.10 Brighton

HEARTSONG @ 28/1 Betfair Sportsbook

There shouldn't be much in these two on last years running with the current fav beating the selection just over 2L but worse off in the weights this time around add to that Heartsong was hampered late on in that race and had to be eased.  The disparity in the prices suggest the selection might be better value.  Last win came here in September off a 7lb higher mark.  Gallagher has a good record historically in August and this looks too big at 28/1.

3.40 Bri - Frozen Force - win at 6/4 bog bet365

10f handicap

my selection has won over a mile here and looks well suited the track and to decent ground on turf. He's won over 10f elsewhere.

the current fave is Melabi who comes from a bigger yard but looks a bit in the handicappers grip as he keeps getting beaten 3 or 4 lengths off this mark

Brighton 4.10 Pour La Victoire @ 11/4 bet365 win thanks

Pour La Victoire.....from Tony Carroll yard the 6yo has won nine races from 5f to 1m on ground varying from good to firm to good to soft and on the all-weather, He comes here looking to win this race again ,

He had a good prep race 2 days ago here over the longer distance of 1m only beat 1 length , Although up 6lbs from last year he likes the track and he has a 7lb claimer in Georgia Cox in the saddle , which sees him a 1lb better off
