He runs to escape the weight rise buts its a lot to ask in my opinion, and don't forget all the travelling. Krakatoa King is a fair alternative, he looked an improver over hurdles last season and clearly has bag of stamina. Went chasing off a mark of 129 but was dropped to 121 last time and ran a fine race to be 3rd to Golden Chieftain. He just plugged on that day and a repeat of that here would see him go close. The Gigginstown horse looks promising but looks short in a race this strong. Mystical Knight is thought highly of and Curtis outlined him as an Albert Bartlett hopeful so he should be able to give the favourite something to think about. This is partly due to the horse showing very little elsewhere but that win was over c&d and the second was when beaten by just a neck off the same mark as todays. He's decided to run here instead of the Gold Cup since this is an easier race and won't take as much it of him. His main aim is cleary the Grand National and they will have him spot on for that. But for today's race Philip Hobbs horse Sausalito Sunrise makes more appeal. In receipt of 4lbs from Many Clouds, the horse was in rude health when bolting up with top weight in what looked a decent Listed handicap at Ascot last time out. I like to catch a horse at the peak of their powers and this horse looks to be still improving and should go very well today. Unioniste deserves a mention for the Nicholls yard, he's a useful sort and can't be ruled out but I fear he's catching Sausalito Sunrise at the wrong time. But even at the age of 11, Maggio's record at the track istoo good to ignore, especially that these odds. Since 2009 his record reads R44 W6 P19, but his record here at Kelso is an impressive R8 W4 P3, including a win in this race in 2014.
