Monthly Naps Comp, ''MONDAY'' 9th Nov 2015

Recommended Posts

Trainer Caroline Bailey puts just the two runners in the horsebox and heads for Southwell, her runners at times can be very hit or miss but what with jockey Andrew Thornton making the journey for this sole ride it would hint the combo are hopeful of wages.

The 5yr old only has the 3 runs on his CV and is yet to score, he's not been racing in just over 200 days so small stakes are advisable, any market support might give us punters a little confidence booster as of his return chances too.

3.35 Kempton

Outer Space wasnt beaten far over this trip at Chelmsford last time out however had every chance with no excuse and it may well be that the handicapper is now in charge.

Dutch Art Dealer hasnt been seen since winning 2 7f handicaps at Wolves and Kempton a year ago, which is a concern, returns 3lb higher and steps up in trip but remains unexposed.

Two Moons produced a career best effort last time out at Nottingham in heavy ground, and other 3 wins have come at Southwell  so may prefer that deeper surface and would be of more interest around there.

Big Whiskey is my selection, he usually runs his race around here. Has been in fair form over 7f recently, given an awful ride last time out but was finishing well to suggest he remains competitive and in form. Return to 1m no problem just as effective and should get the pace to chase in this race.

2.00 Southwell - Lamps win @ 5/2 Bet365

Last seen placing in a decent class 3 handicap at Ffos Las. He's dropped into a claimer today and this looks a much easier task. All of his last 3 wins have come in either a seller or a claimer. He won this last year and this doesn't look a particularly hard renewal. He is the highest rated in the field and looks well treated at these weights. He gets ground that he likes and the trip and track should cause no problems (2 from 2 at Southwell). My only concern is that he is coming back after a break and his reappearances after long breaks have been poor over the last couple of years but in 2012 and 2011 he won after breaks of over 200 days so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem in what looks a fairly weak race.

130 Southwell: Phone Home 12/1 bet365 EW

Saw this one run a cracker at Newbury last season when just edged out in a photo. Won later in the year and then was not right at Sandown on his last start of the season. Nick Mitchell is in good form and if this one is back on song after his break then he's way overpriced in my opinion.

Carl 2.50 - Blakemount - win at 3/1 bog betvictor

3 mile graduation chase which has been won by decent horses in the last few years - Shuthefrontdoor, Vintage Star, Across The Bay, Hey Big Spender, Money Trix

Today's renewal looks well up to standard with the 4 younger horses all having grade race form over hurdles or novice chases

My selection finished a head 2nd in a grade 2 novice hurdle and has already had an outing this season, running well but earning the comment that he would come on for the run. Can front run which could be a useful tactic if he has a fitness edge on his main rivals. He's also getting weight as he hasn't won a chase yet

Salubrious is the favourite - he might the run as some of Nicholls runners do and he only scraped home a year ago on his chase debut at 5/1 ON to beat a 120s rated horse by a neck, jumping poorly, not seen since

Deputy Dan usually needs a run after a break

The other two are a bit older and more exposed and don't look like making up into grade class chasers

K5.40 Belle Dormant 14/1 Bet365

This horse ran a decent enough race on its only previous visit to the track when finishing 5th of 12 in a maiden prior to going into handicaps. The horses that finished either side of this one in 4th and 6th in that race have since won off  marks of 67 and 68. I would therefore suggest that this mark of 70 with the services of Oisin Murphy could be a decent one especially since the horse was probably given a quiet ride in that maiden run.

3.35 Kempton: Class 3 Handicap, 1m

Second start for Made With Love for the David O'Meara yard - in the context of this race, he's clearly the most intriguing contender. He should theoretically come on for his most recent outing at Newmarket when finishing stone last on his first start after a break as well as for the new yard.

He seemed quite a decent prospect at the start of the new flat season after he showed promise as a three year old when he landed a Kempton maiden. He started his year with a fine performance in a hot Kempton handicap then, finishing 4th while hanging a closer finish way in the final furlong.

Subsequently upped in trip he got badly hampered at a crucial stage in a Doncaster handicap when he seemed to get his act together to mount a challenge. Seemingly not a straightforward horse, he has been off the track and left John Gosden soon after.

Still Made With Love remains with potential. He's had only six career starts and is open to some improvement with a hood fitted for the first time. This today is an easier race than what he contested mostly this year and the cushioned polytrack should suit him. If there is no underlying problem, like his breathing, he should be able to be a big runner of a mark off 88 now.

5:40 Kempton : Showtime Blues @ 11/2 Ladbrokes win thanks

A choice of two blue's for me today Blue Amazon or Showtime Blues I 'll go with?

Showtime Blues....from Jim Boyle yard the 3yo has just came to yard this month from Amanda Perrett who kept him running and ran here in September AW 7f off a mark of 70 and finished 2nd beaten a head , Since that run I feel they had this race in mind as they've gave it another 3 runs two at different AW tracks and then 25 days ago on Turf at Brighton 7f GS when 13th of 14 runners and a change of jockey to Jim Crowley , Today Jim Crowley is on Jim Boyle's other runner in race and Adam Kirby takes over who has a good record on AW , with horse running off same mark as the last AW race here 70

2.50 Carlisle - Master Hill @7 betway

Interesting that C L Tizzard is 1-2 at Carlisle and he sends all the way up here 3 runners with N Fehily booked, the hard part is to guess which one is his best hope among the three.

I am sidding with Masters Hill as the trainer won this race 5 years ago, excuses last time as he was badly hampered many times at Cheltenham, has to give weights to some of today rivals but he is consistent, heavy ground today is unknown but should go close if he is to suit the condition.
