Re: French Open 2015 Serena Williams- Andrea Hlavackova Long term readers will know that we have done incredibly well by taking on Serena, who is the greatest woman player of modern times, early in grand slam events and she is always vulnerable through the first week and she has "only" made it past the quarter finals here at RG three times in 13 visits, losing twice inside two rounds in the last three years. We very rarely cover tennis aside from grand slam events, but I did say a few words about Williams the younger in Rome, when she faced Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova ........ Serena got her butt kicked by Kvitova in the Madrid final, but will be pleased with her overall performance on return to clay, although the altitude in Madrid and surface are very different from anything else she will face in the next month. She did play two Fed Cup singles matches before that, actually in Italy and won both , but dropped eight games to Camila Giorgi and was taken all the way by Sara Errani. She should win today, but meeting someone so comfortable on the surface and in good form in her first WTA start of the season on "real" clay will not be easy. She won that 1 &3 , but it was much closer than those bare numbers suggest and Pavly had a lot of chances on the Williams serve and the world number one was not at her best and pulled out of the tournament before her next match and has not played since. For Andrea Hlavackova, read Marina Erakovic, another player who has banked a couple of million dollars, largely courtesy of her doubles form and she is a two time grand slam winner in doubles, including her at RG. That means she is unlikely to freeze on the big stage and will have played on the Phillipe-Chatrier show court several times before. She is 0-5 lifetime against top 20 ranked players on clay, but in the four completed matches, took six and later nine games from Victoria Azarenka and a set from the other two, Azarenka was ranked world #1 in their second meeting and that augurs well. The underdog is battle hardened after coming through qualifying and we only need her to take five games today ( if they play just two sets) and she seems more that capable of managing that, with Serena also possibly being a little rusty . Andrea Hlavackova +7.5 games 2.09 Pinnacle Sports/Sportmarket Pro.

Re: French Open 2015 Kerber has had some back problems lately which forced her to drop out of the Nuremberg tournament. Yesterday she looked alright and managed to keep rallies short. Against stronger opposition her back pain might recur though.

Re: French Open 2015 Back Marcos Baghdatis (-2.5) to beat Damir Dzumhur for a 8/10 stake at 1.83 with Paddy Power Back Juan Monaco (-4.5) to beat Teimuraz Gabashvili for a 8/10 stake at 1.86 with Betsafe Back N.Mahut/E.Gulbis - Over 3.5 sets for a 8/10 stake at 1.83 with Paddy Power Back D.Sela/J.W.Tsonga - Over 3.5 sets for a 5/10 stake at 4.50 with Paddy Power After beating Karlovic in three sets, Baghdatis should be able to beat Dzumhur comfortably as well. Monaco should also be way too strong for Gabashvili on this surface, Lopez has been dreadful recently, so I'd take the Russian's win with a grain of salt. Mahut and Gulbis should be fantastic to watch, I expect it to be close and hard-fought. Finally, I'm happy to go for a punt on Sela to take a set off Tsonga at odds this big, as the Frenchman wasn't really tested by Lindell and could find it hard to cope with Sela's variety at times. Re: French Open 2015 Over 3.5 in Nishikori x Bellucci @ 2.2 (bet365) for a 0.75 stake No doubt about Nishikori being a big player, and he is a dark horse for me. I think he could go all the way and reach the final. He has that big of a chance. However, and even though he is doing ok in Grand Slams, he usuallys struggles a bit in having 3-setters. He still is not that consistent along the sets and Paul Henri Mathieu could have stolen the second set against him. He had the clutch, but Mathieu was not in that big of a form. On the other hand, Bellucci had a terrific clay season and actually won the ATP Geneva before Roland Garros, where he won against a spirited João Sousa 76 64. I saw the match and Bellucci had a bit of trouble in clutch points but was terrific in return and also doing few errors. He also pushed Djokovic in Rome Masters to his limits and lost 1-2, delivering a good show. I expect the same from him tomorrow. He says he is very motivated, he has nothing to lose and actually looks in big shape and not tired. Matosevic was well disposed in first round and I predict that he can steal a set tomorrow against Nishikori, even though I think Nishikori will eventually win should it go to 4 or 5 sets.

Re: French Open 2015 Stanislas Wawrinka vs Dusan Lajovic over 3.5 sets 5/4 paddy power Wawrinka to win 3-1 11/4 paddy power This could be a tricky opponent for Wawrinka as his opponent is a tough player to beat this surface but i still expect Wawrinka to get through but some of the sets might be a bit tight Alize Cornet vs Alexandra Dulgheru over 21.5 games 4/5 paddy power over 2.5 sets 5/4 paddy power There is no difference between these players and it should go all the way as the sets will be tight and quite a few breaks of serve This match is too close too call

Re: French Open 2015 Thomaz Bellucci (+2.5 sets) to beat Kei Nishikori @ 1.952 Pinnacle (4 pts) Bellucci couldn't really be in better form ahead of this one, and with confidence high he should stand a good chance of taking a set against Nishikori. The Japanese wasn't at his best against Mathieu in the first round and whilst it's likely he'll improve, it might not be enough to win in straight sets as Bellucci is a step up from the Frenchman who is in decline. In normal circumstances I'd play the plus games line as well, but as Bellucci has a tendency to lose sets easily I'm going to give it a miss this time and cross my fingers that the Brazilian can take this to at least four sets. Samantha Stosur (-6.5 games) to beat Amandine Hesse @ 1.934 Pinnacle (4 pts) Stosur is on a good run right now having taken the title in Strasbourg last week, and as she's always struck me as a confidence player I think this is the time to back her to get a convincing win. Hesse deserves credit for beating Gajdosova in round one, but at the same time the Australian isn't in the best of form and competing against a former finalist at this tournament should be a step too far for the Frenchwoman. She'll get plenty of backing from the crowd and might be able to sneak a set, but in the end I think the experience that Stosur has will see her through easily enough. Carla Suarez Navarro (-6.5 games) to beat Virginie Razzano @ 1.813 Pinnacle (4 pts) Razzano retired against Mladenovic last week in Strasbourg and was having problems in the first round here against Cepede, and if she's not completely fit when she takes to the court to face Suarez Navarro this could be over quickly. The Spaniard has become one of the most consistent players on tour and chases down every ball, and she's sure to run Razzano all over the place if she senses that the Frenchwomen isn't able to compete. If Razzano retires this bet will be voided, but as this might be her last French Open I think she'll play on and that this line can be covered.

Re: French Open 2015 Sock vs Carreno-Busta over 3.5 sets @ 1,53 with bet365 For tomorrow i can't see neither of the two winning in three sets.Sock is arguably the better of the two but yesterday Grigor didn't trouble him at all.Grigor was far from his best making too many unforced mistakes. He has been far from his best days this year so i don't rate Sock's winning that highly.Carreno was great by winning in 3 sets against Estrella who was really disappointing.I think the odds are really high for the Spaniard and he really worths a punt but generally i think over 3.5 sets should really be seen because neither of the two is really capapable of a straight win right now.

We know Kvitova can play like beast and can play like novice. Madrid is her tournament - very fast clay. FO seems made for Nadal. Very very slow central court, heavy balls. These conditions are against Kvitova. But with Kvitova is everything possible. When I think about winner I can imagine players like Wozniacki, Petkovic, Stosur :D

Re: French Open 2015 French Open Tennis: Mirjana Lucic-Baroni-Simona Halep We were correct in taking two big handicap starts ysterday, opposing two big name players in Serena Willams and Pera Kvitova and I have to do likewise today with last year's runner up Simona Halep. The world #3 has had a very solid 2015, but has not been sweeping players aside with quite the same authority as she was through early rounds last year and was taken to 22 games here in Round 1 by Evgeniya Rodina who is very much a journeywoman player, but nowhere near the standard of the two we spoke of in those terms yesterday and she has played very little tennis on the WTA tour in recent years. Mirjana Lucic-Baroni is of a different level entirely, she has had a well documented troubled life off court and was effectively lost to the game for 8 years, MLB was a multi winner as a teenager and there is no knowing how good she would have become, had she been able to stick with tennis through those lost years. Since her return she has won again on the main tour and whilst he is much better suited by faster surfaces nowadays and we will see the best of her after this event, she has taken at least a set from the last three top 20 ranked players she has faced who are 1.69 m or less. Halep would have lost on this handicap to ten of the 13 players she has played who are 1.8 m + in 2015, wih one tie and a couple of those were very lowly ranked, one outside the top 300. The older taller girl plus the handiap for me. Mirjana Lucic-Baroni +7 games 1.925 Pinnacle Sports/Sportmarket Pro.

Re: French Open 2015 Back John Isner (-2.5) to beat Jeremy Chardy for a 8/10 stake at 1.80 with Paddy Power Back Bernard Tomic to beat Thanasi Kokkinakis for a 8/10 stake at 2.50 with Bet365 Back Santiago Giraldo to beat David Goffin for a 7/10 stake at 3.40 with BetVictor Back A.Arnaboldi/M.Cilic - Over 3.5 sets for a 7/10 stake at 2.62 with Paddy Power Isner should just roll past Chardy given his recent record, while I wouldn't have Tomic above evens against Kokkinakis - the surface is against him, but I'd say that everything else actually speaks for him. Goffin has been rather shaky recently, so I'll take the 3.40 that's on offer for Giraldo to beat him. A small punt on Arnaboldi to take a set off Cilic as well, the Italian is having the tournament of his life. Re: French Open 2015 Punting on tennis can be so frustrating sometimes! I didn't back Bellucci on the game handicap because he often drops sets easily, only for him to fight back from big deficits in not one but two sets in his straight sets loss to Nishikori, meaning that the game handicap was covered but my bet on the set handicap wasn't and then Razzano retired against Suarez Navarro when I didn't think she would. The more I think about it what's needed to be successful in this game is a crystal ball. ;)

Re: French Open 2015 Here's my take on a couple of tomorrow's matches. Rafael Nadal (-2.5 sets) to beat Nicolas Almagro @ 1.714 Pinnacle (4 pts) Rafael Nadal (-7 games) to beat Nicolas Almagro @ 1.877 Pinnacle (4 pts) I wasn't all that impressed with what I saw of Nadal against Halys, and not just because he spoiled my handicap bet. However, as he was up against a youngster who he probably didn't know all that much about and who was swinging freely I'm prepared to give the Spaniard the benefit of the doubt and back him to cover both of these lines against Almagro. He's played his fellow Spaniard on numerous occasions and only lost once which was last year in Barcelona, but since then Almagro has spent significant time off the tour and has been trying to make his way back up the rankings this season. I think a better barometer for how this meeting will pan out was when they played each other in Barcelona this year, where Nadal won for the loss of only four games. When it comes down to it, Nadal has a mental edge over Almagro and knows what to expect from him and so I can only see an easy straight sets win for the defending champion here. Svetlana Kuznetsova (-6 games) to beat Francesca Schiavone @ 1.892 Pinnacle (4 pts) Kuznetsova and Schiavone are both former winners of this event but whilst Kuznetsova has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts in recent times, Schiavone has been in decline. The veteran Italian had a horrible run of losses prior to beating Davis in Strasbourg and then losing to Razzano, and it took her three sets to see off Wang in the first round here. Kuznetsova also needed three sets in the first round against Bertens, but the Dutchwoman has been in pretty good form so I'm not too concerned about that. I actually think this could also go the distance, but as long as the sets Kuznetsova wins are won comfortably then this line can come in.

Re: French Open 2015 Nicolas Almagro vs Rafael Nadal over 30.5 games 8/11 paddy power This player will make it tough for Nadal as he is playing well and Nadal is not so expect a tight first set with Nadal just scraping through three tight or four sets Julia Goerges vs Caroline Wozniacki over 18.5 games 8/11 paddy power I think this match will be fantastic as these two are going to play great tennis there is nothing between these two so expect a lot of breaks in serve

Re: French Open 2015 1. Lu V.S. Anderson :Lu +2.5 sets at 1.9 with Pinnacle/Lu Lu leads the H2H with 2:1. Although Lu has a bad record on clay, he performs very well so far in the clay season this year. Anderson is not a clay specialist either and I don’t expect him to win in straight sets. 2.Isner V.S Chardy : Isner -2.5 games at 1.9 with Pinnacle Isner is in good form and He breaks serve more often than before. So I think Isner should be too strong for Chardy. 3.Tomic V.S Kokkinakis : over 38 games at 1.97 with Pinnacle Both serves well and I think I will be a long match with tie-breaks. 4. KaratantchevaV.S. Falconi : Karatantcheva to win at 1.6 with Pinnacle Karatantcheva is clearly the better player of the two right now and I expect her to win easily 5: Coric V.S. Robredo : Coric +5 games at 1.86 with Pinnacle/ Coric to win at 3.28 with Pinnacle Too much favorism given to Robredo. It’s time for the youngster to shine.

Re: French Open 2015 N. Djokovic v G. Muller -N. Djokovic -9.5 games 1.72 at bet365 G. Muller is not a clay specialist. This year has 3 wins and 2 lost matches on clay.Wins over Paolo Lorenzi old and worn out player,Albert Montanes who is not in form at the moment and unknow Silva Frederico(275).Lost easy from L. Mayer and Carreno Busta. His serve is not effective like on hard.I watched him against L. Mayer and Lorenzi and saw just game plan for hard court. His backhand is pretty pure for clay.Against number one player it can be easy punished.Big serve will not helping him in this match, because Djoko is great returner.Another fact is that he is a little tired after match with Lorenzi(played in two days). His is not in his best year(32) to recover from that match quickly.I think that Muller will try aggressive and finish the points in 2 or 3 shots. It can be effective on hard court like this year on Ausi Open against Djoko where he was able to hold his serve solid.Even it was good serving Djoko has 11 break points. He converted one per set. This match things is gonna be little different.Expecting more breaks from number one player.Maybe one close set,but the other two sets number one will crush him.Djoko want to finish the job quickly and prepare for the next level.Have really tough draw and he knows that saving energy is priority in this match.Surely result will be 3:0 and i think that Djoko will beat this handicap.More save is -8.5 game 1.45 with bet city. Short look on today matches T. Kokkinakis v B. Tomic- over 3.5 sets 1.5 paddy power Both players don t feel pleasant on clay. The best that they can do to reach round 3 with Djoko. Both don t have mantal ability to finish the job in 3 sets.I think this gona be tough fight.Maybe 5 setter.Kokkinakis is better at the moment, but Tomic has experience for Slam matches. R. Gasquet v C Berlocq - R. Gasquet -2.5 games in 3rd set 2.62 paddy power Home player will progres to next level for sure.Even Berlocq is clay specialist he is not in form at all.And his age for this kind of matches is a litlle problem. He came here not well prepared. He ret. against l. Vanni in Madrid and ret. agains Ymer in Monte Carlo.Maybe will give fight in first or second sets(i don t think so),but when he will see that the job is over he would like quickly packed his bag from Paris.Maybe handicap in Bet city -6.5 is also good option where they count and if player ret. ,becouse there is big chance for Berlocq to ret.I didnt watched match with Marchenko, but i think if Berlocq was in form he will smashed him.Marcenko is not a player who is good on clay at all.Preview meeting Gasquet won easy 3:0.This gona be another one.Even i dont like Gasquet like a player becouse he has mental problems to finish the job easy.Players like Berlocq make him problems in the past. But home support and Berlocq not well prepared is big factors for this match. Have a good day punters (sorry for my english)

Re: French Open 2015 Back T.Berdych/B.Paire - Over 31 games for a 8/10 stake at 1.83 with 10Bet Back Lukas Rosol to beat Teimuraz Gabashvili for a 8/10 stake at 1.75 with BetVictor Back G.Monfils/P.Cuevas - Over 37.5 games for a 9/10 stake at 1.80 with Paddy Power Back G.Simon/N.Mahut - Over 3.5 sets for a 8/10 stake at 2.37 with Paddy Power Rosol looked excellent against Bautista-Agut and is a better player than Gabashvili, so the 1.75 for him looks worth taking to me. Meanwhile, I expect most matches to be quite tight tomorrow. The Cuevas-Monfils match has all the makings of an epic, Paire should be able to put up some resistance against Berdych, and Mahut should be able to win a set despite being a worse clay court player than Simon. Re: French Open 2015 Donna Vekic to beat Ana Ivanovic 4.50 @ bet365 I'm thinking why not? Donna is 18 years old (turns 19 at the end of june) and has already been in 4 finals and won one title last year. Here best surface might not be clay but I don't think it matters to mutch in this match. Going after who the best player is on current surface might prove misleading anyway so I don't care that Ana has won RG once before. Ana is not in her best form and has'nt been that since the season started acctually. She struggled to put away Misaki Doi in her last match. Donna is going to be a big problem for her. Edit: Not the most important info but Donna has been in 3 finals and won one. First one in 2012 in Tashkent and 2013 in Birmingham and her first title in Kuala Lumpur 2014.

Re: French Open 2015 Just the one for me tomorrow, and at a short price. Roger Federer (-2.5 sets) to beat Damir Dzumhur @ 1.242 Pinnacle (5 pts) I think this will be similar to when Federer played Falla in the opening round, with the Swiss largely controlling things and easing his way through to the next round in straight sets. On paper, Dzumhur's wins over Youzhny and Baghdatis look good but both players have struggled all season with form and fitness issues so you could argue that this will be his first real test. I wouldn't want to back Federer to cover the game handicap as it could take him some time to get used to Dzumhur's game having never played him before, plus Dzumhur might decide to go for it like Halys did against Nadal which might mean that he plays above himself. Whatever happens, I expect Federer to be concentrating on getting a third straight three set win at this tournament, something he will know the importance of if he's to make an impression in the later and more difficult rounds.
