Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 3.25 - Wolverhampton - Groove On @ 5/1 BetVictor Marco Botti handicap debutant who could well prove better than his opening mark of 68. He ran creditably in all 3 of his maidens, with his best effort coming on his 2nd run when 3rd over 6f at Lingfield. Wasnt as good going right handed at Kempton last time but still finished 4th so should benefit return to a left handed track. Also has man of the moment Adam Kirby replacing claimer in the saddle which is also a massive bonus considering his record for this yard. Pretty weak race for the grade and hopefully he can take advantage of that.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January Leicester 100 - Todareistodo 7/2 Paddy Power BOG Not a strong race this and the selection is one of only a couple who are proven in the conditions and have some recent form. He won well enough at Towcester LTO when showing a game attitude to beat two decent yard sticks. He has a couple of other pieces of form previously which suggest this mark may be slightly lenient as well. The trainer reports that he prefers better ground, which he will get here.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 2.20 Wolves Caldercruix - opened up 12/1 which looked a great price. 5/1 now but tipping anyway. Shaped as if in need of further when staying on one paced over 6f last time. Extra furlong here looks ideal. 1lb below winning mark, which came in better grade. 5/1 Paddypower, 1 pt win

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January Anay Turge 2.30pm Chepstow - 1pt WIN - 4-1 William Hill Course and distance winner and now runs under a 7lb penalty after a win 8 days ago at Uttoxeter on heavy ground. Won here in November but Sew On Target is much better at the weights now to reverse that form. Shangani looks the danger but I'm awful backing anything under 2's so I won't put the kiss of death on that one and tip it (Corky breathes a sigh of relief :lol). This horse is only 8 years old and seems to be improving still. It has won off 91, 101 and 110 and has a consistent look to it. Speedy Bruere has some formlines of interest in France with Sir Des Champs and Katenko but may be best watched today. Capable 3lb claimer on board mine today, has won on the horse before. Jumps well and you need to over 2m without losing momentum at fences. Might be playing for 2nd behind Shangani but at the prices I'll take that chance.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 14.10 Leicester - Wiesentraum - WIN @ 9\1 PP BOG Class 3 Novice chase over 2m 7.5f on expected Good to Soft ground. Won a class 3 beginners chase at Doncaster on Good to Soft ground over 2m 3f 24 days ago. Stayed on well at finish which suggests that he will get the extra distance today. If shows improvement will be close at the finish but feel that at the price in a 6 runner race is worth the gamble for a winner last time out. From that race the 5th was 2nd next time out and the 6th won next time out and an UR runner has also won.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 5.25 Wolverhampton Smirfy's Silver 1pt win @ 33/1 Bet365 Bit of a crazy one for today. This horse has shown next to nothing in his 5 runs for his new trainer Michael Mullineaux but as a result he has dropped in the weights from 65 to 51. In his 3 runs for the yard last season he showed some ability on one occasion when finishing just 5 lengths behind Valley Tiger off a mark of 63. He returned this year and showed nothing after a 253 day absence form the track and then last time out his saddle slipped at Kempton and he finished tailed off. He is twice a winner on turf off higher marks with his best effort coming off 64. He is now rated 51 and connections have chosen to put cheekpieces on him for the first time. He has the perfect draw in 1 for a horse that likes to front run and Tom Eaves, who regularly rides for this trainer takes the ride. Michael Mullineaux has hit form in the last 14 days with 3 wins from 9 runners on the flat. It's not a confident selection by any means but he could certainly stay in front for a long way in the race and if the first time cheekpieces bring about a little improvement, then he could cause an upset off his much reduced handicap mark.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January Wolv 3.55 - Cosmic Halo - win at 10/3 bog PP Lightly raced type from the Fahey yard Ran well over CD last time to finish 3rd, only beaten 3/4L - the first 2 have both won since so the form looks solid and he evidently acts over this CD Todays race looks slightly easier and he probably only has to repeat his last run to win The current fave is a hurdler, Bradbury, having his first run for the McCain yard. He's a decent enough horse but you expect this might be a prep for going over the sticks and wonder how hard he'll be pushed...........:unsure. This looks a bit on the sharp side for him anyway as his last few runs on the flat have been at 16F plus (12f today)

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 155 Chepstow: Mauricetheathlete EW (13/2 Coral, BS) This one ran on Saturday over C/D so probably a big ask for him to plough through the mud twice in such a short time but ran well to finish fifth in a race where the major players were all progressive types, he kept tabs on them until between the last two flights and a reproduction of that would see him go close in this weaker race. The fav is another unexposed type from the Pipe yard so will go each way this time at the odds.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 3:25 Wolv - Hazza The Jazza Absolutely stormed up the straight lto, coming from last to first (albeit, it was a 3 runner race) and I think he's still well being treated leniently. Jason Hart takes 5lb of this time, so will be running off 60 (61 last time) and he's not a bad apprentice. 7\2 Will Hill (bog)

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 12.30 Lei Samarkand 28/1 BV, 25/1 all others. Bought out of Mark Prescot's yard last autumn, was rated around the 80 mark on the flat, so around 125 over jumps. On his first run over 20 f , he was bang there 3 out and challenging when slipping badley on the ground, If that had not happened he would not be so big a price today. Soft - Heavy ground holds no fears for this horse and he has a bit of class flat speed over this distance to get him involved today. The price is far to big for me not to get involved at 28/1. 1 point each way.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January *Smalljohn > Wolverhampton 2:20 > WIN @ 9/1 Stanjames BOG* Course form can be very vital on this course, and this horse is a 7-time course and distance winner, boasting far better form here than any other horse in the field. Has been below par last 2 runs, but is now just 1 pound higher than it's last C+D win here and has to be taken seriously and looks drastically overpriced, as I feel it should be a 4/1 shot.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January Yet another bumper yet another puzzle. Again a few of these could be anything but one i feel should be given another chance and is proven on the ground and is showing a cracking price is the Hawker horse. The 5yr old gelding was 2nd last time out on HG over 2m 1f at Folkestone, at the showing price he is surely worth another crack, he was last out 35 days ago and because of the ground and his fitness might just catch a few of the newcomers out. Owned & Trained by the Hawker family, and Robert Hawker rides again, the very best of luck folks. 4:05 Chepstow - Beaujolais Bob. 0.5 E/w bet @ 18/1 Sportingbet, 16/1 Hills & Laddies ''BOG''

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January Wolves 2.20 - SmallJohn 0.5 e/w 9/1 Stan James If you're looking for horses for courses then Smalljohn fits the bill perfectly he loves it here at Wolverhampton and is a seven time winner. He hasn't been seen at his best since racking up back to back wins in mid 2012 so does need to bounce back but is only 1lbs higher then his last win and if returning well from a 50 day lay off at these odds he should be an each way player.

13:55 Chepstow Always Bold 8/1 Coral BOG 0.5pt EW I was going to go for Gemini Ahhs in the 13:20 but it's too late so onto my second choice of the day. Always Bold crashed down the weights earlier this year after some odd rises which left him in the handicappers grip (going from 95 to 113 despite the second of two wins being not that brilliant) but won off 99 and had a good second off 104 despite a drop in trip. However this three mile trip should suit and looks like a bit of a slog even if the ground is better than it was at the weekend. He's on the same OR as last time out today. Martin Keighley's other horse Mauricetheathlete has had two wins and a place from six runs here but looked tired on Saturday and Always Bold can take him after a rest. Laflammedeglorie makes up the third of the top three as the favourite but is on a handicap debut her and despite being a Pipe/Scudamore ride it's not got a huge amount going for it.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 2:50 Wolverhampton - Flumps - 25/1 Stan James Can't be having Dhaaman at odds on despite it could well be winning this poor race easily. This horse looks the most unexposed in the race though and ran behind subsequent winners in a maiden here over 6 furlongs last November. Hopefully a small step up in trip and blinkers can make a big difference today.

Re: BBOTD Tuesday 8th January 3.00 Chepstow - 1pt win Dalrymple @ 9/2 (SJ) Not the most inspiring of races but I'm likely to get a run for my money with Polly Gundry's horse and it could be enough in this field. He's run well twice this season and has had excuses on his other two starts and conditions should be ok here. Both wins have come on good ground but appears to handle soft and shapes as if a testing 2 miles will suit with a long straight ideal. Ran well over 2m4f two starts back and probably found things a little sharp last time. This is a weak race and he should be there or thereabouts.
