1st @ 2\13 - Made all, mistake 7th, driven and pressed from 2 out, mistake last, holding rival flat but ridden right out

Bollin Ace 14.10 Leicester 3 Pts Win @ 1\5 (bog)

Fairly useful and progressive hurdler who was all the better for chase debut when runner-up in a Newcastle novice chase (2m) 2 weeks ago. Hard to oppose on that evidence.

1st @ 2\5 - With leader, led 5th, ridden clear last, stayed on, comfortably

Uppertown Prince 14.10 Ayr 3 Pts Win @ 1\6 (bog)

Thrice-raced winner over hurdles. 12/1, 15 lengths second of 8 to Chef Des Obeaux in Prestige Novices' Hurdle at Haydock (22.8f, heavy) 21 days ago, staying on well. Chance is there for all to see.

Rio Quinto 14.30 Market Rasen 3 Pts Win @ 4\7 (bog)

Fairly useful form over hurdles, drew clear impressively to win on debut at Fakenham in December and runner-up both starts since. Obvious claims.

2nd - Hung left, tracked leading pair, 2nd 3 out, hung left and hit 2 out, no impression when lost 2nd last, hung left run-in, ran on into 2nd again towards finish, always held

Dell Oro 14.20 Plumpton 2 Pts Win @ 5\4 (bog)

Won 2m Ascot novice hurdle in November and good second at Newbury next time. Seemed to be stretched over this trip at Huntingdon but the class act on form back down in class.

Buveur D'Air 15.30 Cheltenham 3 Pts Win @ 8\15 (bog)

Impressive in this last year and has taken record over jumps to 11 wins from 12 starts when barely coming off bridle to land Fighting Fifth, Christmas Hurdle and Sandown listed event this term.

Should have been 2 Pts Win ....

1st @ 4\6 - Tracked leaders, challenged after 3 out, soon leant on rival, led before 2 out, hard pressed by runner-up after, driven flat, edged right towards finish, found extra close home

Alberto's Dream 16.25 Huntingdon 1 Pt Win @ 1\3 (bog)

Well backed when making a winning debut for this yard at Lingfield (23.5f) this month. Followed up with the minimum of fuss at Leicester 4 days ago and difficult to oppose under another penalty.

Hazel Hill 17.15 Towcester 4 Pts Win @ 1\5 (bog)

Successful on his last 10 starts in points and justified cramped odds in style on hunter debut at Leicester last month. Sure to go on to better things.

Hopefully can finish with a win .... all the weight is on

Weebill 15.20 Fakenham 5 Pts Win @ 2\7 (bog)

Fair form only outing in bumpers and has made a fairly encouraging start over hurdles, running best race when 5 lengths second at Warwick (19f) in February. Comfortably sets the standard.

Well with the end of Cheltenham brings the end of this topic for another 8 months. Finished with a four timer and a nice profit for the year.

SPFFinal.JPG.d37f2f402952f13e840cfeee177de365.JPG

A few facts on 17\18:

65 Winners led to the second highest strike rate of 71.43%  (0.53% lower than the highest)

This years profit is the 2nd highest and also the 2nd highest P on I.

The 4 losers between 18th Dec and 21st Dec was the highest number of consecutive losers. (Last year we had 5 consecutive losers between 18th Dec and 22nd Dec) Will keep an eye next year.

The most consecutive winners over the time was 12 (3rd highest) brought to an end by Agrapart (Lizzie Kelly) on 17th February..

47 different jockeys, three with the most rides Barry Geraghty 10, 8 winners 80%, Richard Johnson 8, 5 winners 63% and Brian Hughes 7, 5 winners 71%.

Of the jockeys who had 2 or more rides D.Russell (2 rides), DJ Mullins (2 rides) and Wayne Hutchinson (2 rides) all had a 100% record.

Roll on next November :hope  :ok

Getting ready to start this again on the 23rd November with Ascot. Don't forget it will only work with the staking strategy applied.

Below are the results since I started posting back in 2011 plus the two years papertrial/backtest.

Most W & L are the most consecutive winners/losers that year.

Nowhere near a computer yesterday so starting a day late.

Simply Loveleh 15.25 Huntingdon 3 Pts Win @ 13\8 (bog)

Very promising start for Robert Stephens in listed Market Rasen bumper in January, keeping on. Failed to land the odds for Dan Skelton at Uttoxeter recently but this probably a good opening.

2nd - Tracked leader until 10f out, stayed handy, led 2f out, headed over 1f out, not pace of winner

Lil Rockerfeller 14.20 Exeter 2 Pts Win @ 2\9 (bog)

Very tough smart hurdler who has won both starts over fences, though far from convincing at Cheltenham (3m) last time, mistakes and just doing enough. Headgear back on now and this looks his to lose.

1st @ 4\11 - Made most, driven 2 out, drew clear before last, pushed out, readily

Thomas Campbell 15.20 Ludlow 1 Pt Win @ 4\11 (bog)

Smart staying hurdler. Perfectly satisfactory start to his chase career when fourth in a good race at Cheltenham and hard to beat even though this test is sharper than ideal.

1st @ 4\7 - Made all, clear 2nd until before 5th, pushed along briefly paddock bend after 9th, clear after 4 out until last, just shaken up and always doing enough

Show's Over 12.20 Sedgefield 4 Pts WIn @ 4\5 (bog)

Hasn't won since 2016 but he does at least arrive here having filled the runners-up spot on 2 of his last 3 starts upon joining this yard. Respected on that basis in an ordinary affair.

Mengli Khan 13.55 Punchestown 3 Pts Win @ 4\5 (bog)

Smart hurdler. 11/2, creditable 9¼ lengths third of 10 to Draconien in Champion Novices' Hurdle at this course (16.4f, good to soft). Not bred for chasing but respected on smart hurdles form.
