You can pretty much pick out who will make the last 4 if you know who wins the groups and who comes second. Ofcourse nobody knows that but I'm basing that on my picks (selecting whom i think makes each group and going from there) and with that I have 4 main picks (2 from each side of the group) and 2 outsiders. 13pts staked.
2pts E/W De Sousa to win GSOD (grand slam of darts) 25/1 willhill
    1pt E/W D.Heta to win GSOD 40/1 betfair
    1pt E/W D.Chisnall to win GSOD 40/1 willhill
    1pt E/W J.Cullen to win GSOD 40/1 bet365
    1pt E/W S.Whitlock to win GSOD 66/1 bet365
    0.5pts E/W Van Duijvenbode to win GSOD 100/1 bet365

I think we discussed that before and it seems to come back up now and again. I don't let the odds or the money I built up in the bank influence my choice of bets. We have very different ways of betting. For me, this is a glory hunt. Isn't that this section is called? It's all about the number of bets in a row, I don't look at the money or the odds. Different strokes for different folks. Good luck with your thread

Andrey Rublev (+2.5) to beat Rafael Nadal at 1.81 with Pinnacle
I'm not going to add much to what's already been said here, but this looks more than fine to me odds-wise and line-wise. There's some security in the handicap and I can see quite a few scenarios in which Nadal wins but doesn't cover. The outright is playable as well, but the bottom line is that Nadal has looked far worse than Rublev indoors in recent times.

I think it'll be Southend and Stevenage that get relegated. As I said though, I hope I'm wrong

That looks interesting to me. I really liked Rublev in this part of the season as well, I only have two issues with him and neither is big. The first is physical, but he's had some rest ahead of this. The second is that he still feels a bit chokey under pressure, but he can get a lead on Nadal if he plays well. I'm not quite sure if I'd want to back him to win the group, but the odds carry enough premium I reckon. Nadal is overrated, that's for sure.

    Hello Harry,
I hear you regarding the date, Friday 13th, but, knowing it's Friday the 13th for Billy Hill, Bald Fred and the rest of them I'll nail my colours to the mast by saying the Wunderers have more chance of walking under a black cat then beating Salford tonight.
That's my gut feeling for the game, but, I'd never encourage anyone to bet more than they could comfortably afford to throw away, no matter how strong their gut feeling is.
I don't bet under or over these days, even though they can offer value I've burned my fingers and my money when teams that you'd expect to run in 4 or more goals, decide to take it easy and get the same 3 points by tapping in a 1-0 win.
Not wanting to jinx them I'll say nowt about yer bets, other than to wish you luck on them, I'll be pulling for you during the game, keeping an eye on how it's going for you.
I see the 6/5 went pretty quick, I might have helped push that towards the odds on that Salford are now. By the way, check yer messages in here, I've filled you and Labrador in on the "comings and goings" at the Wunderers. I tried to copy Stevie {the Admin guy} in on it too, but it seems you can only send 2 messages a day in here ? so I'd appreciate it if you could pass that message on to Stevie for me, I'm sure he'll be amused by the prospects of me starting a new career ?
Keep the info in that message to yourself though, other than to Stevie that is, I don't want to drop a spanner in "what's names" works...

Hey folks. I believe Alexandrova (WTA Linz), Ruusuvuori (Bratislava), Gunneswaran (Cary) and Sinner (Sofia) will beat their opponents today. They deserve to be the heavy favorites imo. If you choose these odds at bet365, you get triple your money (3.00) if they all deliver.
    Good luck.

It's also good to post the bookie, @Heisenberg68.
Don't like anything over in Linz today honestly. As I said, this part of the season is already a bit meh, looking forward to the ATP finals and then the off-season. Also, I'm really hoping that Australia won't mess things up and that we are going to get the full Aussie Open experience!

I got in to racing many years ago one Saturday when the pubs used to shut between 3 and 5 so for something to pass the time we went in to the bookies. My mate insisted that at every race meeting a favourite wins one of the races so all you need to do is back the favourites at each meeting to make a set amount and once the favourite wins then you stop betting.
So if you wanted to make £10 and the favourite was 2/1 then you bet £5. If it loses then you need to make £15 on the next race so if it was 2/1 you would bet £7.50.
That 1st Saturday we made £40 between us which in those days was a lot of money (I think beer was about 40p a pint).
Even in those days I had quite an analytical mind so I spent an afternoon in the library going through old newspapers and looking at the racing results.
I found one sequence where there were 33 losing favourites in a row and to make my £10 I would have had to bet something like £40 million on the eventual winning favourite !

My curiosity got the better of me and I decided to work out how the selections on here have been doing (with today's bet still open). I make it 5 winners from 13 with a 0.91 point profit to 1 point level stakes, with an ROI of 7%. Not a bad start, though a few points up or down wouldn't mean too much at this early stage.
I'd suggest that's the level of detail that would be appropriate for updates going forward, so people have an idea how your selections are performing. Anyone coming to the thread after, say, 30 bets and just reading that there had been x number of winners from 30 would probably think "so what, have the selections been profitable or not?".
There are a lot of threads in this section of the board and most will do well to attract any ongoing interest or interaction. One that doesn't even show how the bets are performing will pretty much get none.
Anyway, good luck with your future bets, time to try and find some winners of my own now!

I'd like to see seeds that lose first round matches - or second if getting a bye - getting no paycheck inclusive of appearance fees. They're supposed to win and it's hard not to conclude, as @vvararusuggested, that sometimes they just aren't bothered about winning. The way I see it, if you're seeded then you're making a good living out of the sport and so can afford the penalty of not getting paid for a first match loss at a tournament. I suppose though that if something like that were implemented, it would just kick the can down the road and you'd get top players tanking in their next match. Realistically though, players not trying and sometimes blatantly so is a blight that tennis is stuck with. I just don't see a feasible way to stamp it out completely.

Not a chance that's true. Cilic has been sliding for ages now and it's not going to change - he's always been one dimensional, and when that one dimension starts to wane there's no turning back. I always thought he was a similar player to Berdych and he finished with a limp and I can see Cilic going the same way.

The rules should be improved and players payed for each round only if they win that round. So many disappointments with "big" players going and losing in the first round only to mark their presence, take the money and go home. People are watching them (and probably bet on them) wanting to see their good performance and, instead, they see that attitude.

I dont find much value in graded and group class races ....sometimes you can but bookies are very very good at pricing them up and the odds are stacked in their favour ....
I tend to find a lot of mine in big ...really tricky hcaps because the value horses get lost in the haze .....me and valiant thor have very similar principles ....decide how good the horse is using ratings then only back if the price available is better than the horses actual chance  .....if you stick to that you will ALWAYS win in the long run .....I've had 15 20 straight losing races ...200 300 pts down ....then I'll win 7 of the next 9 races winning 400 pts and I'm back in front and I've done that at least 20 times to my knowledge in the last couple years ...it always comes back as long as your disciplined and stick to the rules .....if I think a horse is value at 11/2 but its 5/1 then it's no good ....at 11/2 I win in the long run  ..at 5/1 I break even ...no good .....that's the pure essence of value betting
So you'll rarely find me on a 9/4 or less ....when theres 12 horses in a race why would I wanna be on one ??....unless say the following happened
    Horse 1 300
    Horse2  294
    Horse 3  291
    Horse 4 285
    Horse 5 283
    Etc etc
So in my opinion it's a 3 horse race on ratings by a strong margin .....so 2/1 on top rated is break even if I can get 9/4 or better I'll play in this scenario ....so I keep an open mind
