Interesting posts on the staking plans !
good luck with all the paper trials
I've been trying a staking plan for the last few months but I've only been betting on football since about last October with 95% single win bets with the odd double and 'fancy' bet here and there .............so basically I was expecting a pretty good strike rate, up around 50%
Since around mid March I tried the following ...........

Started with 100 and had 20 times 5 bets.
At the end of that sequence I had around 141 so then did 20 times 7
At the end of that I had around 145 so did 20 times 7 again
At the end of that I had 165 so did 20 times 8
That's when the losing run set in and before long I was back down to 105
So I had a reset and started again at 20 times 5 .............that's the sequence I'm currently in

I guess it's a common staking plan but I found it stopped me doing stupid bets like 30 quid on Burnley to beat Lincoln at 1/6 .............. ............to be fair that was the shocker which made me think I needed a disciplined staking plan !
I think 20 bets at a level stake is a good number to get you over any reasonable losing runs and by increasing or decreasing your stake at the end of every sequence of 20 bets it stretches out your betting bank

The non runner is my horse...............
oh well, at least it can't finish 3rd
I suppose after doing all that work I ought to make another selection so I'll just go for the favourite as the one most likely to give his running in what might be a weak race for the top level ............
Cloth of Stars - win at 9/4 bog PP

Had a look last night and quickly skimmed the field deleting horses based on weight, age, adverse Spotlight comments about trip and current form, instinct and whim, and the two I was left with were both Henderson runners
    Premier Bond
    Sugar Baron
The last 2 I eliminated were Dawson City and Trustan Times
    So there's your first 4 ..............

Cheers Sig ............very interesting write ups
I'll watch your two races later on with interest
I keep meaning to get back into doing speed figures and concentrating on the AW because I was pretty successful two or three years ago when I spent time on it
I think the AW does lend itself to speed figures with a relatively standard surface and largely the same group of horses running multiple times over the winter

Well, I guess the 2 unique things that the Post has that I rely on and pay for !........ are -
firstly the race analysis write up included in every race result
secondly the RPR form and speed ratings for every runner as part of the race results and incorporated into the horse form pages, plus the facility to store your own ratings and comments

    It's a good days racing today ..........
On Saturdays there tends to be lots of other stuff to watch - eg football, rugby, cycling on today ........ so I usually just make a list of the races I want to watch in time order then I flick over and just watch the race before flicking back to the football or cycling or whatever I'm watching.
Today I have no less than 11 races on my list ............normally it's 5 or 6
    I've got -
    Chep - 2.30
    Kemp - 1.50, 2.25. 3.00, 3.35
    Ling - 2.05, 2.40, 3.15
    Newc - 3.20
    Fairy - 1.45, 3.30
I usually include all Grade races, interesting quality novice races, races that I've got a selection in either bets or competitions and today I've included races that Richard has a selection in on his 'speed' thread just to see how he gets on
    Busy day's Telly Racing ...............

Seems very strange coming the day after one of their best performances of the season
But ..........they've had the odd good performance throughout the season followed by several spiritless defeats so there's no guarantee they would carry last night's form into the League games

I wonder if maybe 'sprints' are the way to go with speed figures ..........logically the longer a race the more the result will be determined by tactics and the way the race is run and less by pure speed
