I like the chances of Trulie Good in the basement Classified race at 5.30 at Southwell tonight, currently 12/1 but wouldn’t surprise me if she were to be backed throughout the day. Owner trained and Bowring often does well at Southwell. Ran well in two handicaps at Southwell in Jan, firstly over 5f when only beaten 3/4 length by Street Life (who had a better draw that time, and reopposes tonight) and then a short head over 6f. Then ran in a classified, however that was over a mile so can put a line through that. Same weights with Street Life tonight but only because of that ones jockey claim and is also better drawn than SL tonight. There looks like there will be a lot of pace on too which will only help Trulie Good's chances as we know she gets further. These Classified races are generally full of out of form, low grade horses so it is quite unusual to see one with recent consistent form figures (224) at a double figure price dropping into this grade.6 points

Yeah Searle was on my shortlist - not sure if it makes any difference, but it’s probably the closest he gets to a local event too, living just over the border in Devon.3 points

Anastasija Sevastova to beat Julia Riera at 1.60 with Unibet Sevastova seems to be picking her spots well, and I do fancy her against Riera, who hasn't played much since the Aussie Open, and who had some luck against Li a week ago, as the latter was physically limited.3 points -
Another weekend of top Darts, with the UK Open. In Minehead. This is one I'd like to go to, one day. A HUGE event, with 160 players and all within a weekend. Action all the way. Dubbed 'The FA Cup of Darts' this is a random draw, unseeded event that helps many players and can make the winner incredibly hard to predict. Aspinall won this at 125/1 back in 2019. For anybody wanting a big price, the beauty of the draw is that it will show you the route of the player up until we're down to 64. The random draws start from R4 and so some players must play a lot more than others, of course. Much like the FA Cup, in Football. I thought Id do this little intro before I start looking at potential tips. Good luck1 point

Seems fair, would tend to stick to the exchange for most but may use WH for the no goals in 1st 5 mins bets. Would you want reasoning behind each bet rather than a random over 0.5 goals in a game? As an example: Below would be my starting bet with reasoning behind it. 10th v 12th. 0-0 last time they met. St Johnstone only scored 17 in 27 matches and Livingston 18 in 27 matches.1 point -

Ok, we start Friday (start of the month) and as we stand there will be four of us. I'll start a thread in time but in the meantime here's what we go with unless anyone wants to counter beforehand (I'm not dictating the terms, just steering the ship). Thread title - "Your Turn, My Turn" doesn't really matter and can be changed later anyway. The title of this thread is a Grant McLennan song and I've gone with a Go-Betweens song (the band he was in). It's better than the Chuckle Brothers evoking "To me, to you". Order - I'll draw at random and post in the thread. be ready to go on Friday. Odds allowed - anything from 1.01 upwards. Common sense dictates we'll be playing at long odds on. Bets allowed - I'm going to say exchange only but I'm open to allowing bets with bookies if there's a consensus on that. I just think it makes it easier for us all to be on any of the bets should we so wish. Let's stick to back bets to avoid anything fiddly stakes wise. No in-play bets, bets to be posted at least half an hour ahead of the off time. (So bets between innings and rounds could be allowed if they satisfy the half hour criteria) Post your bet with stake and odds and update with result and new bank total (allowing for commission) Next up can place a bet as soon as the previous one is settled. Ideally next bet should be posted the same or next day. if someone fails to post a bet by the end of the next day then the next person is free to take their turn. (Should ensure that we generally stick to a minimum of a bet per day) Start bank £100 and first stake £10. Roll it over until doubled then bank. Next stake is 10% of bank but £10 minimum (might as well try and build the bank with a bit of compounding). As I say, we go on Friday. Any opinions on what I've said above then let us know, same if you think there's anything I've not covered that needs to be. It's not rocket science and I'm sure we can tweak things on the go if needed.1 point -

A debate takes place in parliament today about affordability checks. It is being proposed that punters would undergo financial screening if they lose £125 in a month. I have made a profit every year for the last 10 years but I've made a loss of more than £125 2 times in the last 5 months so I would therefore have to give up my financial records. I would strongly object to this. Whilst I sympathise with problem gamblers this is not the answer.1 point

Yeah, 20/1 would be the minimum Id take here. You could quite easily face MVG then Littler, then Humphries. A nice draw can make all the difference.1 point

And the last two winners, Noppert and then Gilding were also surprise winners (or at least semi-surprises). Searle would be a logical candidate to win this one, but he is only (or is it "only"?) around 20/1 this time, which is not surprising given his early form this season.1 point -
As luck would have it, Hugh Taylor has put this one up about 15 mins after my post so no longer 12s!0 points
