NH Novice Hurdlers

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 1255 Ascot 90 Red Harbour, 78 Ballybach, 67 Millers Dawn Only three with form but Red Harbour is interesting on his 4th to Moleskin last time, may have needed the run like many of the stables hurdlers and will come on a lot. Ballybach ran in a messy race at Stratford on his debut and wouldnt surprise me to see that one step up. Millers Dawn ran a quiet race last time and showed a little promise, a big price here but may run well. 205 Ascot 93 Manyriverstocross, 90 The Rainbow Hunter, 66 Final Son You couldnt help but liked the way Manyriverstocross took to hurdles on his debut at Chepstow, he won with authority and will be hard to beat here. The Rainbow Hunter also ran a pleasing debut when third and looks the danger of those with form. Vino Griego is the one from the debutants, a useful bumper but I'm not convince the Moore stable is on song at the moment. 105 Exeter 96 Song Sung Blue, 87 Four Strong Winds, 82 San Marino Really nice race this one and Song Sung Blue will be hard to beat after his decent run last time at Chepstow, that race was full of promising types and looks to have the Nicholls horse Theres No Panic who fell when fav on his debut to beat. Four Strong Winds should improve and could reach the frame. 1215 Kelso 90 Humbie, Wymott, 85 Mini Beck Looks bewteen Wymott who was a good second to Going Wrong at Carlisle and Humbie who was second to Canadian Blaze here, Mini Beck ran a couple of promising races last season and looks a stayer for the future. 1245 Kelso 98 Sunnari, 75 Midnite Bews, 72 Saujana Looks a staright forward task for Sunnari now the danger Sumak is out, he ran a fine second at Aintree. Most of the others with form are very moderate and the danger could come from Bishops Heir who has solid bumper form. Bets; 1245 Kel: Sunnari 4pts (4/5 WH Bog) 105 Ex: Song Sung Blue 2pts (11/8 Bet365 Bog) 1255 As: Red Harbour 2pts (6/4 Bet 365 Bog) 205 As: Manyriverstocross 3pts (8/13 PP Bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Round Up Only one word for today, Carnage! I cant believe how many good novices were disappointing all on the same day. Wymot won very easily in the first at Kelso which was expected but after that it went downhill fast. Sunarri was beat two out and stopped as if shot, obviously the heavy ground done his stamina but still should have finished closer for my liking. Over at Exeter Song Sung Blue was well backed as the Nicholls horse drifted, that one was never at the races but at least Song Sung Blue had every chance but could never get to San Marino, he led all the way and deserved his success. Ascot was no better for fav backers, Red Harbour was beaten going to the last and ended up out the frame, thats twice now so the jury is out on that one, the winner again led all the way. Manyriverstocross was also turned over and defeat was obvious by the last, he just didnt quicken like he did on his debut and Inventor came to collar King Olav close home, both fair horses and maybe MRTC was over rated and a poor value bet, we will have to see but one or two good stables have had setbacks lately and I have an idea they are hyped up too much in the first place. Anyway, all the hard work this month undone and back to square one and try to get back to level stakes before December when things should settle down more. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 1215 Haydock 98 Any Given Day, 96 Candle, 94 Pepe Simo Only 6 runners but very interesting race, fav Pepe Simo hasnt done anything wrong winning nicely last time out on softish ground, one that could test him today is Any Given Day, very impressive early season and last time ran well when third to James De Vassey in a handicap, best form on sounder surface is a worry. Candle won well last week and should follow the two favs home. 1220 Ascot 100 Grangeclare Gold, 90 Arkose, 87 Quianshan Leader Much the best form on offer is from the Irish raider Grangeclare Gold, second last time in a competative Grade 3 race at Down Royal. Arkose won nicely on his debut as did Quianshan Leader but they will have to improve a lot to beat GC. Possol is interesting, a chaser nowadays but on his best form could figure here. 1205 Huntingdon 87 Asturienne, 84 My Rebecca, 83 Naughty Naughty The Alan King runner Asturienne was quite impressive at Towcester, staying on well up the hill that day, this is a completely different track which is probably why a couple behind him that day take him on again. Naughty Naughty was second and Penny Queen 6th. My Rebecca ran well in the spring and comes back after a break. Henderson runs a debutant and is the market rival and could be a danger. 105 Huntingdon 91 Zarinski, 82 Space Telescope Only two with form and they were second and third behind Blazing Buck at Sandown that day. Zarinski tried to pinch the race when quickening round the homw turn but was outstayed, this track should suit him better, Space Telescope lost nothing in defeat and wont be far away. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Detek, cheers mate, down on confidence after a bad couple of days myself and only put the one selection and that was EW, anyway a nice profit. Round Up Disappointed with both Asturienne and Zarinski the other day but both beaten by first time out horses so the future will tell us if they ran poorly or they took on something special. Pepe Simo was a good winner over Any Given Day while Possol just showed how chasers can with these races, he won easily and well placed by the trainer. Yesterday was brighter, Love Of Tara just outsatayed them up the hill, a real galloper and everything played into her hands. Always Bold has looked a different horse since his break and won well yet again while Annie May got the job done at Musselbrough, thought she was going to win easily but was made to fight for it in the end. Sitting Tennnant showed his Hexham running all wrong and won well at Aintree, was pulled up soon after the race with an injury, not heard any news yet but hope its not too serious. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 1220 Kempton 91 Aohna, 87 On Borrowed Wings, 85 Fidelis All eyes will be on Nicky Henderson's debutant Candy Creek here, she heads the market due to her good bumper form and the word is this could be useful. Aohna looks the best of those with experience, a fine win last time pouncing at the last and going away on the run in, needs holding up. 1240 Ffos Las 92 Riptide, 86 Blazing Buck, 78 Hectors House Riptide beat Hectors House 25l last time they met and has since ran two decent races in defeat behind Barizan and Kudu Country, the last although beaten was a solid performance. Blazing Buck won at Sandown but the form hasnt exactly worked out and he got outpaced that day before running on well in the straight, this track will suit better and wont be far away. 115 Ffos Las 98 Watamu Bay, 91 Fabulous Fred, 89 Wricksons Bridge Nice race this one with a few in with a shout. Watamu Bay ran really well to chase home Moleskin last time, the extra trip should suit too. Paul Nicholls runs a debutant but will need to be match fit to beat these first time up. Fabulous Fred ran well on his debut in a race full of promising types while Wricksons Bridge was second in a much weaker race. Victory Parade looks interesting, this one beat Always Bold and then ran well in a handicap, always up with the pace and will make this a strong test. 1230 Ludlow 101 Abbevillian, 89 Balnahinch, 76 Truckers Hall The hot fav is Royal Collonges, at first he looked disappointing when beaten on his debut but the winner has since won at Cheltenham, should be spot on this time and will improve a lot. The one with the form is Abbevillian, his run at Newbury a while ago stands up well but does have the break of nearly a year to get over, stable going well though. Balnahinch has some solid form too and should be in the frame. Bets; 115 Ffos: Victory Parade 1pt EW (9/2 Bet365 Bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Round Up Another sound day for the ratings with winners at 9/1, 9/4 and 4/6. Typically the selection finished third just outside the money but was well beaten by both Watamo Bay and Fabulous Fred (top two rated). The winner was struggling at one point but ran on really well to get up close home, the runner up will be winning soon over 3 miles. Riptide led all the way to win his race, nothing dramatic just galloped them into the ground, Hectors House was held up off the pace and came through to nick second from Blazing Buck who was stopped by his penalty, his form isnt stacking up at all. Candy Creek was well backed on his debut and duly won but the second ran well, On Borrowed Wings and both could win next time, obviously the winner will step up in class now. Aohna stayed on for third but didnt get a blow in against these. Abbevillian overcame his lay off to win good style from the very well backed Wayward Prince, fav Royal Collonges was tailed off and now has questions to answer. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 110 Lingfield 94 Megasue, 93 Dots Delight, 82 Slick Mover Megasue ran a fine race last time when second and caught close home in a fair race, normal improvement would see her take this from Dots Delight who finally delivered last time after a few near misses, she wants holding up out the back and may want further too but if the ground is testing her stamina will come into play. James Fanshawe runs La Sarrazine and is fancied, no hurdle form and one to watch. 210 Lingfield 94 General Kutzov, 78 Have You Seen Me, 71 Fire Within Cant help but like the way General Kutuzov ran when second to Royal Charm on his debut, was never going to win but stayed on well and this ground wont be a worry, only has one real danger and that is Samurai Way who is well regarded but apparantly was injured when running last time so has questions to answer. Fire Within is a big price and could run well. 1250 Sedgefield 89 Master Fong, 87 Monsieur Jordain, 86 First Bay Interesting 3yo hurdle with plenty of form on offer, Monsieur Jordain is the only previous winner in the field and carries the penalty and hasnt any good form on soft ground from hios flat days. First Bay was just behind MJ when placed behind Trumpstoo at Wetherby, that was a decent first run and must go close here. Master Fong heads the ratings on his third at Bangor behind Peter Grimes on Soft ground, would have finished closer but for some untidy jumping, if he improves that he should be in with every chance. Veronicas Boy ran 4th to MJ on his debut and could improve and finish closer this time. 220 Sedgefield 88 Seedless, 86 Aint She The Lady, 84 Wheyaye Pretty poor stuff here and Seedless although under par last time has a chance on his form when in with every chance at the last when falling behind Word Of Warning. Of the others Minouchka is a chaser with decent form and a rating of 117 so must be in with a shout in this company. Bets: 210 Ling: General Kutuzov 2pts (6/4 PP Bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Round Up Top two rated fought out the finish of the first at Lingfield with Dots Delight getting up to beat Megasue, she is very game and the ground came right for her. The second lost nothing in defeat and will be winning soon, maybe on better ground. Alan Kings newcomer won the other race there, quite impressive really but not sure General Kutuzov handles ground this soft. Samurai Way ran well after a break and should go one better soon. At Sedgefield Monsieur Jordain won again with a penalty, seems to have improved and confirmed earlier form with First Bay who travelled well but didnt get home. Master Fong ran too badly to be his true running, never going well at any stage for me. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 110 Chepstow 93 Upham Atom, 92 Moleskin, 89 Shalamiyr The best race of the day out of the three novice events, plenty of form on offer and the impressive galloper Moleskin runs. He won last time from the front in soft ground, this will be tougher here at Chepstow and has the penalty. Shalamiyr is improving steadily, ran second to Manyriverstocross here last time coming through late, if acts on the ground he will be a danger to all. Upham Atom has good form from last season but will need to be 100% here on his return. King runs Roko Dancer who finished second twice in bumpers, the stable had a debutant winner yesterday. 120 Wetherby 84 Waldo Winchester, 75 Kosta Brava, 74 Another Dark Rum Very average form on offer here and it wont take much winning, debutant Cunning Clarets from the Fahey yard is fav and you cant argue with his good run in a bumper when behind Sitting Tennant. Waldo Winchester looks just about best of those with form, made late progress behind Skylancer and if he can reproduce that he will be in the frame. 225 Wetherby 92 Shifting Gold, 91 Bocamix, 82 Veronicas Boy 3yo hurdle and the market leaders have experience for a change, Shifting Gold is fav on his run behind Monsieur Jordain, he finished in front of both Bocamix and Veronicas Boy that day and is fancied to confime the placings as he will go on the ground ok having won heavy before. Bocamix went on to run at MRasen where he fell when in with a shout and also seems to like soft ground. Veronicas Boy was fourth yesterday and its a big ask to run again while Warrior One was left a remote third on his debut and could improve. Bets; 120 Wth: Cunning Clarets 1pt (15/8 Bet365 Bog) 110 Chp: Moleskin 2pts (4/1 PP Bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Round Up Well its goes without saying Hellfire Club was very unlucky coming down at the last when about to collect, when your lucks out etc.....Anyway it didnt get any better with Sahrati getting well beaten by two debutants, really frustrating backing the King horses lately, just cant get a grip on them. The front two looked decent and could go on to better things. Midnight Queen won the first at Newbury showing much improved form since last seen over the smaller obstacles, very game and genuine, dont think the race was up to the usual standard for Newbury though. Singapore Reef made all to win the 3yo race, opposite tactics to his first run and held off the challengers well, dont think there was a lot left in the tank but it was only his second run. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 1240 Musselburgh 92 New Tricks, 91 Regal Lyric, 89 Helieorbia 3yo race with plenty of form on offer, Regal Lyric ran in the listed contest at Wetherby on his debut, the form has been let down since and i'm not sure what he achieved there but this is an easier race so has to be considered. Helieorbia won his debut race and then was in the frame behind Screaming Brave at Leicester, this track will definitely suit this one better. New Tricks was third at Aintree and the form is very solid while Ravati has a chance on his earlier form but was disappointing last time. 145 Musselburgh 77 Meath All Star, 74 Vallani, 61 Papa Drew Poor race and the Irish horse Meath All Star has shown enough to be the fav here, finished 22l behind Some Present in a good race and with many unknows its impossible to weigh up. 100 Newbury 86 Corredor Sun, 84 Prince Pippin, 64 Beat The Devil The race has lost its edge with the withdrawal of Mill Chief, debutant Royal Mix is well regarded and wont have to be anything special to win here. Of those that have ran Corredor Sun was fourth to Zepnove which isnt bad form and Prince Pippin has a 10lb penalty for winning two small races and this will be a lot tougher giving that kind of weight away. 345 Newbury 92 Henry King, 61 Badger Foot, 53 Also Jo Bellvano from the Henderson yard is hot fav here on his two bumper wins, also Tocca Ferro makes his debut and is very interesting. Henry King has a solid run over hurdles and is by miles the best of those with form, his second to Pepe Simo looks even better now that one has come out and won a better race. Bets; 345 Nb: Henry King 1pt (3/1 Bet 365 Bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Round Up A day when the 'good' well regarded debutants delivered the goods, Royal Mix won well enough from Me Voici, they both look smart enough to make it over hurdles. The Henderson horse Bellvano was also impressive and maybe the best of those on show today. Henry King travelled well and fell two out, wouldnt have beat the fav though. At Mussleburgh a shock result with another newcomer winning in Carlito Brigante, strange race as at least three fancied runners ran way below their best. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 1225 Newbury 94 Sleepy Hollow, 92 Marly Roca, 91 Sereth Interesting race with the two big yards having debutants running and heading the market, looks like Finnians Rainbow is the one most likely of those two. Sereth was most impressive beating Wester Ross on his debut and could be worth more than the figures suggest. Two outsiders are high in the ratings and Sleepy Hollow could improve for his debut and make the frame. 1220 Towcester 97 Kahsabelle, 88 Bathwick Quest, 59 Jolly Cooper Only two to concentrate on and Bathwick Quest is fancied to go one better than his second at Exeter, that was a good run on soft ground and should get up the hill with her stamina. Kahasabelle is one I fancied last time but badly needed the run and faded which is a worry coming here, however will like the ground and should be spot on now. Has really good form in the book but seems one of those that finds problems. 125 Towcester 95 Punjabi Army, 93 Restless Harry, 92 Squinch Punjabi Army ran awful on his first start this season but too soon to write off and could bounce back here. Squinch is interesting, he chased home Star Of Angels last time and looked a stayer so this track could suit. Pasdelou, Restless Harry and Flexi Time all have claims in a tricky race. 1240 Newcastle 99 Donegal, 93 Diklers Oscar, 91 Frankie Anson All of these have experience for this valuable prize and the Irish send over Donegal just to make things complicated, he ran two decent races in good class hurdles and could be a grade above this. Frankie Anson won well last time and is improving while Diklers Oscar looks a galloper and will be staying on. Going Wrong won at Carlisle and the form has been franked by Wymott and will be therabouts. 225 Newcastle 88 Cocoa Key, 85 St Devote, 84 Wave Power Not much between a few of these on their best form, Wave Power went into the notebook last time when second to Frankie Anson and Cocoa Key was leading when coming down at Sedgefield. St Devote is one to watch, his fourth at Wexford was a good run and could be on the upgrade. Beauchamp might be one at bigger prices to watch, his third last time wasnt a bad run. The red fav is a Henderson newcomer with a terrible name, the stable are firing now and you would think its the one to be on but the price will be as bad as his name. Bets; 1220 Tow: Kahsabelle 1pt (3/1 PP Bog)

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 1245 Leic: 96 The Falklander, 94 Pugilist, 90 Azulada Bay 1255 Car: 85 Midnite Blews, 54 Braden Brook, 52 Shadrack 125 Car: 87 Alvarado, 80 Against The Wind Preview Not very inspiring stuff today, the race at Leicester is competative form wise but Nicky Henderson sends out another bumper winner and is odds on. The Falklander looks the one if you wanted to take Peveril on. At Carlisle a similar story in the first, the market dominated by debutants and either Rosbay or Washington Irving wont have to be anything special to take this. Midnite Blews is an obvious EW bet. The other race has only 5 runners and Alvarado could follow up his nice win over this course last month, the danger is the McCains Whiteabbey on his hurdle debut. No bets today, taking it easy with so many newcomers this month, its harder than usual and in another month the picture will become clearer.

The fav won last time when goping over a trip for the first time, acts on heavy so should take all the beating, 1/3 isnt very attractive and Lord Singer could make a race of it on his third behind Aegean Dawn. At Fakenham Fanshawe runs a debutant in Peace Corps, rated in the 70's on the flat and looks to have Am I Blue to beat here, he was given a quiet ride on his debut and is expected to improve a lot and be closer to the pace this time. Mymateeric could snatch a place at big odds. The other race sees Pipe Banner running for the Queen and with the stable in cracking form you can see why its fav. Dorothys Freind and Little Eaglet are the best of those with form and will take advantage if the debutant needs the run. No Bet

An easy forecast in the first race paying 36/1, with the 2 that were clear in the ratings. Although it was no bet, shows the ratings are accurate :clap:clap Great thread by the way, and the profit for the top rated's shows that it can definitely work.

Over at Southwell we have three races and nice ones too. The 120 over 3 miles sees Lord Generous back in action after his easy win at Warwick, really stretched them out that day and AP rides again. Chamirey is odds on here but I wasnt all that impressed by his win last time although the extra trip will suit. Calusa Shadow and Alora Money are fair horses and this will be no easy race for the fav. The 1.50 is wide open and a tentative vote goes to Saltigoo who was 4th behind Dont Panic on debut. Interesting clash in the last between two previous winners Whenever and Holoko Heights, my preference is for Whenever, looked impressive on his debut and with plenty of scope I thought. Tuscar Rock has had plenty of chances and has ability but might find this tough on his comeback. Vacario is a winner but has a couple of awful runs to forget while Robo didnt show his running last time and you can ignore that and wont be far away at a decent price. Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Thanks Stu:ok I'll do the round up later, in a rush to get these on. 1220 Ayr: 91 Carters Rest, 87 Bivouac, 74 Grandad Bill 145 Catt: 99 Stormy Weather, 92 Kudu Country, 92 Orsippus 215 Catt: 92 Alegralil, 87 Canadian Blaze, 76 Home She Goes Preview Just the one Introductory hurdle at Ayr and a pretty low key affiar with fav being Bivouac who trotted up in a seller last time, sure to be better than his bare rating and has Carters Rest to beat who ran a blinder when second to Bishops Heir. The well regarded Premier Sagas was a big let down on debut and will be interesting if they back it again. At Catterick we have a 3yo race thats quite interesting, you have to be careful with these because there are so few races for the juveniles that they turn up on what sometimes is not the ideal track/ground etc.. Catterick is a fav for those that struggle with the distance and an obvious race for Orsippus who looks a short runner, ran a cracker at Musselburgh the other day though. Kudu Country was most impressive on his debut and looks one to follow as does Stromy Weather who was beaten at long odds on by Kind Heart who hasnt done much for the form but excuses were there that day. I expect further improvement from the Johnson runner. The last race is a two horse affair with previous winners Alegralil and Canadian Blaze having a match, Alegralil is odds on but I dont think thers is a lot between them and wont be taking anything too short here. No Bet

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 Round Up Kudu Country defied his penalty against Stormy Weather, the latter ran a funny race as between the last two flights was on the bridle and probably trading quite short, however he soon was under pressure and Kudu Country ran on well to win easily, obvious reservations about the runner up now. The other race at Catterick saw Alegralil win very easily, the race was marred by Canadian Blaze pulling up injured, the winner looks a decent mare but didnt beat anything here. At Ayr the well backed fav Turbo Island battled on well to win from the previous disappointing Premier Sagas, I reckon both these are decent types. Stakes: 944.00pts Returns: 930.46pts Profit : -13.54 pts Yield : -1.43% Top Rated Stakes : 362 pts Returns: 368.46 pts Profit: 6.46pts Yield : 1.78%

Re: NH Novice Watch 2009 1255 MR: 91 Gwyre, 86 Sergeant Pink, 83 Space Telescope 125 MR: 92 King Fontaine, 76 Switched Off, 74 Finlay 115 Win: No Ratings 105 Leic: 88 Zepnove, 78 Hailing Park, 76 Dream Risk 235 Leic: 91 Camptho, 91 Cheshire Prince, 90 Pearlysteps Preview At Market Rasen we have two novice hurdles, the first has only 5 runners but any of them have a chance, McCain runs two debutants which have to be respected and the other three all have shown some sort of promise. Gwyre looks to be improving with each run while Space Telescope was brought down early on last time after a fair debut run. Sergeant Pink was presented with his race when two rivals fell so hard to weigh up. The other race looks more straight forward with previous winner Kings Fontaine the one to beat. At Leicester the 3yo race looks a real puzzle, no doubt Zepnove the filly has the form but a double penalty is not easy to carry. Two debutants head the market and dont have to be anything special on these terms. Hailing Park and Dream Risk have shown a glimpse of ability but need to improve. The last race is very competative and perhaps the best race of the day, two very nice horses in Cheshire Prince and Camptho take on the very promising Pearly Steps, should be tight and informative for the future. Bets; 125 MR: Kings Fontaine 4pts (8/11 WH Bog)
