Dont take any of the free drink til after the poker.... i was half cut by the time we sat down(90mins later), and i chased a flush 1st hand, silly play but i was tipsy and excited. 2. Concentration is key! with celebrities and 1/2 naked maxim girls walking round looking at tables, its easy to take your eyes off things. 3. If its at Pascha again in London, wear a very lightweight suit, as there was no air con and in the middle of june!, wasnt pleasant!! 4...... well ive ran out but just play as u normally would online, i finished 41st out of 64 but it was my 1st live game, so i cant be disappointed, and im on the video on the maxim site from last year as well. If not you might not want to spend much time here...little sprogs everywhere on the plus point across the road is the Stardust with a HUGE Sportsbook..... Imperial Palace has the best comps on the strip for poker, so sign up straight away for a players card ($3 for every hour played) plus u get fresh sandwiches and cookies every hour mmmmmmm The cocktail birds are weeewoooo stunning. The Standard of poker is also very low. I won a tourny here my 1st time live at a table lol ($900) Stay away Friday Saturday and Sundays as everyone comes in from all over america on those days and the standard of play goes up greatly... For a meal u have to try Ellis Island..It has been #1 on the Las Vegas journal for a very long time now... Ask for the Steak Special (It is not on the menue) you get starter (soup or Salad) 10oz steak with all the trimmings, drinks and it will only cost you $6 each plus ur place mat is a $5 blackjack match bet :ok Also if you have never fired a gun get urself to the Gun Store V V good fun... I have no kids (i think) but a few of my mate who are going are themepark idiots...so circus circus was a decent choice for them lol. I want to stay in all the hotels in vegas hense the moving round a lot, just to experience it all. I cant wait now only 12 hrs to go!!!!!! With a minimum of half the table sitting out (which is always the case), playing patiently, tight and aggressive can get you to 5000 chips easily. Sitting out from there guarantees you around top 30 - and abouth 200 points - SO WHY OH WHY DID I KEEP PLAYING TODAY WHEN I GOT TO 6000? Mixed up my AA with the chip leader/bully and his 56o hit a straight and I was gone in about 150th for 100 odd points!!! I lost 100 points by trying to get the extra 30 points for winning!!! How stoooopid. From now on - I play for 5000 points, then sit out and take my 200 points!!!! The potential rewards to the risk of playing on just aren't worth it!!!! runadrum Posted December 31, 2005 Share Posted December 31, 2005 Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 Think I said earlier on this thread that I now have no life (although not sure had much of one before to be honest !) and certainly no hair to pull out waiting for a weekly Maxim update, so I tracked the top 120 on the current leaderboard in today's two games. 79th and 4th respectively have improved me up to 26th in the table (from 32nd). To my mind the more important figure is how many points I am off the 10th spot - which is now 730 (was 873). Still gonna be tough though. I looked briefly at doing it, but when I could see no way of automating it, I quickly dismissed the idea - much kudos to you!!! Jumped 8 places in 1 day - I'm pleased with that (but would expect nothing less having scored 471 points!! I was disciplined at lunchtime and sat out from the first break. Never quite got myself into the position where I could do that tonight though. Jacks took out by 74off 2pair on the board.
