Barcelona have sealed the La Liga title with a few games remaining but there's still things to be decided in the Spanish top flight. Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have secured Champions League football for next season and Valencia need one more win to secure their spot. Real Betis will be in the Europa League next season barring a huge turn around. Villarreal should take the remaining automatic league qualification position for the Europa League but a lot of teams are waiting in the wings if they slip up.

Villarreal vs Valencia

Two of the great teams of La Liga from recent times face off this Saturday in a 7:45pm kick-off at La Ceramica with European aspirations on the line between 6th placed Villarreal and 4th placed Valencia. The bookies are unsure who to back with any real confidence and that is exactly my line of thinking. Go down the middle!

Villarreal have won 10 and drawn 2 of their 17 home matches so far this season. 5 defeats suggest they are far from invincible on their own turf. Fran Escriba has seen his side go their last three league games unbeaten and have scored 8 goals during those matches. They are a team buzzing with attacking flair right now.

Valencia have all but secured Champions League football for next season but it is far from done and dusted. They will want a win here to ease any concerns that may arise heading into the last couple of league games. Marcelino has helped steer them back to the top four after a dodgy era. The only issue is that some players appear to be prematurely on the beach already with the club not having won any of their last four league matches.

I think deep down, Valencia's players think they have done enough to qualify for the Champions League next season. Real Betis are on a hell of a run right now but still need to win all three of their remaining games and hope Valencia lose all three of their remaining games. Stranger things have happened though.

Villarreal are under more pressure to get a result here with teams breathing down their neck. My gut instinct is being lured by the draw but I just have a sneaky suspicion that given Valencia's recent form that Villarreal could sneak this one. I'm keen to also back goals to fly in for this one. Villarreal look like they could score every time they go forward.
