    System selections for today

I usually stick to handicaps with my system and it's been pretty successful on the whole

But for a change I'll try it out on the group and listed races mainly because there's enough of them to make it worthwhile if I include the Irish races at The Curragh. I'm also including the two year old races as well though logically the system should be better suited to horses with more back form that RPR has built in to the database. Obviously any system that includes a form rating 'should' be less effective with horses that haven't run very often and haven't got much form to their name

But we'll see how it goes ......

    Good 1.50 - Fairy Cross (WON 2/1)
Curr 1.55 - La Dolce Vita
Curr 2.30 - Treasure Trove (WON 6/4) and Studio City (joint top rated)
    Bev 2,40 - Tis Marvellous  (WON 7/2)
    Good 3.00 - Perfect Alibi
    Newm 3.15 - Daneh
    Good 3.35 - Jadoomi (WON 10/3)
    Curr 3.40 - Seisai
    Wind 6.05 - Desert Encounter
    Wind 6.35 - Majestic Dawn

    4 winners .......

    to a 1 point win stake ..... stakes 11.00, returns 14.33

    profit of  3.33

not as good as last time .......  Thursday's handicaps at Newcastle,  but not bad !

System selections for Newcastle ....... competitive card with plenty of double figure fields. It's tempting to pick two horses per race but that's a bit of a cheat for a system ....... so top rated only. I expect some of these will be EW prices.

    5.45 - Wynter Wildes (WON 5/1)
6.15 - Tregony (WON 5/1) and Natchez Trace (joint top rated)
    6.45 - Secret Glow
    7.15 - Honky Tonk Man
    7.45 - Zaman Jemil (WON 11/8)
    8.15 - Thaki
    8.45 - Stone Circle

    Not bad ........ 3 winners

    at 1 point win - stakes 8.00, returns 14.38

    profit - 6.38 points

It's a bookies benefit day once again.  This time at Newcastle this evening with a Racing League event

I will be betting very low stakes and looking for trainers who do well at the track, are in good current form with 50 plus RTF figures, and also have a good current winning strike rate.  I reckon that I will still need a lot of blooming luck.

Tread very carefully at Newcastle, I suggest. ?

I think I might give my RPR/RTF system a run out ....... there's no reason why it shouldn't do well on competitive cards with lots of runners .... apart from as with any other system or selection process you're just mathematically more likely to pick a winner in a 5 runner race than in a 20 runner race ...... even if you're just sticking a pin in

    ...... and Sandown

Some decent sized fields, might be worth EW if the price is right !

    3.42 Miss Attitude
    4.12 Glamorous Breeze (2nd 5/1)
    5.12 Age of Sail (3rd 11/2)
    5.42 Prism
    6.12 Don't Tell Claire (3rd 15/2)
    6.42 Ace Rothstein

More competitive card sees the winners disappear..... would have got some money back doing EW

    7.00 down on win bets

Starting off with Brighton ...... small fields,

    Top rated only ...... handicaps

    1.45 Fair and Square
    2.45 Michaels Choice
3.20 Field of Honour (WON 9/2)
    3.50 Due a Rum
    4.20 Gin and Tea
    4.50 Mint Julep

Only one winner but not too disastrous - stakes 6.00, returns 5.50

    50p down

After Bristol City v Cardiff 12.30

    Leeds v Chelsea 2.00

    Newcastle v Man City 4.30

    Braga v Maritimo 6.00 ( freesports )

Will you have the ? eye ?️ strength for Sociedad v Barca ?

What Sundays are for , not getting dressed binging on Football & junk food ?

I'm concentrating on the cycling and racing during the afternoon and just keeping my eyes on the scores ....... I'll turn my attention to the footy at tea-time then through the evening

I usually bet on games most days ...... in fact far more than I bet on horses

Half interesting observations, The Group 1 1:33 at Deauville had no French horses in it, also Blackbeard improved past Persian Force on previous running, There was lots of "noise" about Persian Punch early season. The Riddler was last of 5 btn 6 1/2l Supports my thinking, just before and after york, that The Fahey Horses are not quite right at the moment.

not a very good sign for French racing

I believe that's the first group one for 2yo horses in the European season and it's been won by some great horses in the past

I'm having a full day of sports watching today so am bringing my RPR/RTF system back out for extra content !

Starting off with Brighton ...... small fields,

    Top rated only ...... handicaps

    1.45 Fair and Square *

    * I'd be surprised if Fair and Square wins as it's a very rare horse that doesn't seem to stay 5 furlongs ..... as such it's winning opportunities are pretty non existent unless it develops more stamina as it gets older

Not sure what the punters were looking at but this horse went off as favourite ....... and given that the minimum trip at Brighton is actually five and a half furlongs there seemed no chance he would get home. And he duly finished last.

The second favourite who won was a good thing !

  11. ...... and Sandown

Some decent sized fields, might be worth EW if the price is right !

    3.42 Miss Attitude
    4.12 Glamorous Breeze
    5.12 Age of Sail
    5.42 Prism
    6.12 Don't Tell Claire
    6.42 Ace Rothstein

all the above races are live on ITV4

(off topic ..... but ITV have signed a deal to show 10 live La Liga games this season, starting with Sociedad v Barcelona on ITV4 at 9pm tonight!)

  13. Interesting runner in the group one 'Jean Romanet' at Deauville (2.50)

Verry Elleegant is a 7 year old Australian mare having her first run in Europe ....... she's won 7 grade one races in Australia from 7 furlongs to 2 miles

Not quite up there with Winx and Black Caviar as she does lose more than she wins ,..... but if she settles in to her new surroundings there's plenty of group one races at the back end of the season to aim her at
