Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! Amongst the hurdles entries, there are 2 Grand National trials in there too. He is rated 139 so its going to be touch and go whether he gets in, unless he can increase his rating on Saturday, which is possible as he is in good form. I've topped up a bit Back - Mobaasher: £7 @ 280.0

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! I have backed Carruthers, thinking he would be an ideal type for the Grand National but without any indication that connections are actually considering the race for him. Well he has an entry in the GN Trial at Haydock over 3m4f which is a clear indication to me that they will now consider it. Its typically been seen as a good prep race for Aintree, as an example 6 of the 14 runners from the 2010 race ran in the Grand National. I think Carruthers could run a big race if he did line up, he looks well handicapped and will respond positively to a step up in trip I think. He is still 200.0 which is tempting. So he is another one I have topped up on. Back - Carruthers: £11 @ 200.0 Back - Carruthers: £15 @ 180.0

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! Interest in the Thyestes Chase today. I'll be looking for good runs primarily forcThe Midnight Club, Whinstone Boy and Ballytrim. I have backed Siegemaster for the GN too but it looks unlikey he will be entered now.

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! Well the Thyestes result was interesting. Siegemaster won and its is confirmed he will be aimed at the Irish national rather than Aintree. Dessie Hughes suggested as much a couple of weeks ago so I have layed £5 @ 130.0. It was quite amusing watching his price plummet to about 40.0, only to creep up to 300.0 again once people heard the trainers plans for him! He is one for 2012.

The Midnight Club made an impressive reappearance in 2nd, beaten ¾ length. He looks sure to be Mullins main representative in the Grand National and could start favourite. I already have a free 10/1 ish bet on him.

Another Mullins horse was 3 lengths back in 3rd – Ballytrim. I backed him for the GN last season and Mullins was keen to run him but he didn’t get in off his OR. He ran off 138 yesterday andwill get a rise of around 4 or 5 lbs for that, I would think. That will be enough to get him into the race and I think Mullins will run him to make up for missing out last year.

He is inconsistent and you could argue the handicapper has him in his grip somewhat but a Mullins train horse who has won over 30f on heavy ground cannot be written off for the National. The Racing Post suggest he will go for the Irish national, but I disagree. Certainly, if these quotes are anything to go by, Aintree will be the aim.

07Mar10 Naas ( 24 Y/Sft ,RPR144 )

He certainly left his Thyestes run well behind him, the light weight was a big help. I`d love to run at Aintree but I just don`t think he`ll get in, so we`ll probably go for the Irish National now - Willie Mullins

I think the price on betfair reflects the Racing Post’s comment that he will be aimed at the irish National but I’m certain he will get an entry at Aintree and as it looks like he is now running into some form, could be a contender there. 170.0ish is certainly worth taking and should be tradeable.

Lay – Siegemaster £5 @ 130.0

Back – Ballytrim - £8 @ 200.0

Back – Ballytrim - £7 @ 160.0

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! I managed to lay off the rest of my stake on Ballabriggs. He may well start as a market leader on the day but 17.0 now is too short and having backed him at 34.0 im very comfortable to lay that off. Lay - Ballabriggs £4.74 @ 17.0

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! Neptune Collonges got a favourable mention from Paul nicholls on the morning line on Channel 4 this morning and he is now trading at 65.0 from triple figure prices. One Cool Cookie runs at Punchestown tomorrow. The Skybet Chase at Donnie was abandoned which is a real shame as Chief Dan George, Imoncloudnine and Killyglen were all due to run.

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! So what do those entries mean for this thread? Well the most notable absentee is Carruthers, who I had convinced myself was going to get an entry. £33 was staked and only £7 layed off so a loss of £26 on him.

Maljimar was another who hasn’t been entered. He hasn’t looked quite right this season. £15.50 loss on him.

The other significant absentees are Abbeybraney (-£9) and Fabalu (-£11) but I had already resigned myself to those two not lining up.

So those four not being entered have alone cost me £61.50, which won’t be helpful when I’m trying to “green up”.

On a more positive note, Mobaasher is in and has shortened in price, irish National winner Bluesea Cracker is in, after connections were uncertain about the race and horses such as Oscar Time, Chief Dan George and Ballabriggs to whom I am highly exposed to are all in.

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! Some more updates: Lay - Ballabriggs: £10 @ 17.0 He is favourite but looks too short a price off the back of two hurdles wins. The McCain factor is driving the price down, as I predicted and I will extract some more profit. Back - Bluesea Cracker £5 @ 65.2 Back - Bluesea Cracker £13 @ 65.0 Irish National winner wasnt originally going to be entered but has been unlucky with the weather missing races and missed the Welsh national through injury. The entry implies connections are still tempted and this price should be tradeable. Lay - Ballytrim - £10 @ 90.0 Lay - Ballytrim - £8 @ 85.0 Glad I backed him now after his 3rd place in the Thyestes. That has caught a few peoples eyes and is now rated high enough to get into the race. Have taken £18 out.

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! :ok COLEMAN DREAMING OF NATIONAL GLORY Aidan Coleman is now dreaming of John Smith’s Grand National glory aboard Mobaasher. The jockey suffered a blow this week when 2009 winner Mon Mome was ruled out of the Aintree showpiece but Coleman believes he and Venetia Williams still have a live contender. Writing in his exclusive Racing UK blog he said: “Mobaasher ran an excellent race to come fourth in the Cleeve Hurdle on the same card and is our big National hope. “He has solid chase form and has shown he is in excellent form this term. Talking of the National, it’s a shame to see Mon Mome ruled out for the season, but word is it’s not serious and he will live to fight another day.”

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! Lay - Ballabriggs £20 @ 17.0

Lay – Ballabriggs £2 @ 16.5

For the same reasons as in post #315

Lay – Niche Market £3 @ 20.0

Possibly a bit short now. Good chance to lay.

Lay – Bluesea Cracker - £18 @ 50.0

Lay – Bluesea Cracker - £6 @ 48.0

Not guaranteed to run, connections have been quiet on the horses aim for the season. I don’t want to get stung like I did with Carruthers.

Lay – Ballytrim - £4.59 @ 70.0

Will be extracting as much as I can out of this one. I have backed him at big prices and am happy to lay off on the assumption he lacks a bit of class required to win this.

Lay - In Compliance - £8 @ 110.0

Having backed at bigger prices, have layed off after failing to impress in prep runs. Likes Aintree though and should appreciate longer trip. A lively outsider and still happy to have him on my side.

Lay – Oscar Time - £22 @ 28.0

Overexposed to this one so have layed off roughly half of my stake. I think he will get shorter when the weights come out and will lay some more off then. He is my biggest fancy at the moment.

Lay – Chief Dan George - £2.32 @ 60.0

Again, overexposed to this one. His price keeps drifting, I think I have taken too short a price in hindsight.

Lay – One Cool Cookie - £3 @ 55.0

Another who may lack the class to win the National. Having backed at bigger prices, extracting a bit of money out seems sensible.

Lay – Becauseicouldntsee - £5 @ 40.0

Injured after last run and now 50/50 to run at Aintree. There was a school of thought that said he was too inexperienced for this year and maybe they will be better coming back next year.

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! Thanks mate, i'm hoping I can match last year's success but a lot depends on the likes of Chief Dan George, Oscar Time and Taranis, who I am exposed to and Mobaasher and Ballytrim who I have backed at big prices and should be able to extract a lot of cash from, if their prices shorten a touch. Its a big day on Tuesday - the weights are announced and its often from this point that the market starts to move a little and become more liquid. I'm hopeful I will be able to green up, but lets see what the next couple of weeks holds!

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! The market has livened up over the last couple of days, with weights day approaching tomorrow. I’ve laid a further: Mobaasher 15.31 @ 75.0 and Chief Dan George - £5 @ 50.0 and £10 @ 46.0 This leaves me with a deficit of only -£5.41 now so obviously I’m very confident of being able to green up in the near future :nana Mobaasher is declared for Saturday’s Grand National trial, for which he is 6/1 2nd favourite. He is in good form and I expect him to run well. His price should shorten further :hope Taranis is drifting on the exchanges and I can only guess that he isn’t going to line up :( Nicholls wants to run him but the owners aren’t keen, and it looks like the owners have got their way. A further £18 down the drain I think but more will be revealed tomorrow. Ballytrim is one I should be laying off but the liquidity isn’t there at the moment. I think the feeling is that he will bypass Aintree and go for the Irish Grand National, but judging by Mullins comments last year, he wanted to run him at Aintree but couldn’t get the horse rated high enough to get in., That is unlikely to be a problem this year – rated 140, compared with 133 last year and I think Mullins will run him. A bit of a gamble that I could live to regret but I don’t fancy laying him off at 100.0 now, when I’m pretty sure I can get double figures in a few days time.

Re: The "All Green" Grand National 2010 - NOW INCLUDING 2011!! I've backed Carruthers for the Grand National trial at Haydock on Saturday. each way at 14/1. Hopefully I'll win back some of the money I lost backing him for the Grand National itself. No doubt I'll be postng tomorrow after the weights come out. Announced at 11a.m. :ok
